Cecil sighed as he slipped his apron over his coiffed mane. It didn't seem quite as professional as the cream coloured apron he began his business with, but then blood didn't show up quite as badly on the bright, flamboyant colour that almost matched his pale eyes. It had been a long day - two tooth extractions in addition to a hoofful of appointments, and he was tempted to close shop early. As much as he enjoyed his work, his heart simply wasn't as in to it as it usually was, in part because he had received word of his delinquent brother's whereabouts and activities from his mother that morning. That stallion was a headache at the best of times. They were born of noble blood, but Cederic was stubborn and foalish, hardly one to take their heritage seriously and certainly not one to engage in hard, honest work. His parents had hopes for knighthood for his brother, something that would never come to be.

He hung his apron gently on a peg none too far from his worn, yet sharp and trusty tools. Clean up was a familiar, almost soothing process and it did not take long for the unicorn to have the wooden floor clean of stray hairs, his tools packed away properly, and his day's earnings tucked away in his coinpurse.

The sun was still out and shining as he emerged from the corner-side shop. That warmth filling his bones and the spring breeze were enough to lift the barber's spirits somewhat and he gave a happy sigh as he set out on the cobbled streets of Canterlot, locking the door behind him with an absent turn of a key, which he then plopped in the coinpurse along with his day's bits. At least summer was approaching and the bite of winter's cold was starting to fade from recent memory.

Moth was potentially born to nobility too. However she never wished to go through with it, her parents always disowning her in the 'balls' and such. But that was all in all ok with her. Moth wasn't the one to get all tightly wound around things like that.

Stumbling about in the fields near the shops she bounced around and said hello to the springs' butterflies. Saying hello to each that landed near her and then made her way to the stores to get food for her family. Moth's mane in a pretty tangle behind her. She was like her hair; not reckless or anything. But free and quite airy to her surroundings. Her walk talked about many happy adventures, but her looks beyond the mess of mane and tail suggested she was very pretty and soft coloured like her mother was. Bred to look good possibly, like a good lady she was supposed to be made out to be. However it just wasn't in the stars for her.

Moving through to the stores' alleyway she hummed as she passed Cecil with all of her hair.. Trotting nonchalantly away with leaves and things in her hair sticking out abruptly.

Taming hair was in Cecil's blood. Something in combing and straightening manes had always been somewhat of an obsession, even as a foal, as he insisted his siblings let him clean them up when they were far too messy or unkempt. His mother would tell stories, all while stifling a laugh behind a kerchief, of the stubborn foal chasing his younger sister with a brush while his levitation abilities were budding.

It was this ingrained need for order and cleanliness that caused the young barber to pause mid-step as Moth passed him. She was a pretty thing most definitely, but that was not the first thing that caught the stubborn unicorn's eye. Some ponies had naturally curly manes... But hers looked more knotted than he had ever seen and it had all manners of plant life tangled in it. Sun above, something might even be living in that mess. His heart practically skipped a beat at the thought of it.

Absolutely dreadful.

"Miss?" He about-faced, hurrying after the mare.
