Personality/Mannerism: Hotaka is very quiet and reserved. Due to his past of being orphaned and forced to live on the streets, he was never very social, and often kept to himself whenever possible. Due to this, he has grown to become rather shy, as he is unused to communication with others. This also affects his knowledge of the modern language. Despite these things, he can be very stubborn and will often choose to go about things whatever way that he sees is best. This leads to a lack of caring and generally ignorant nature.
Facial Features: Hotaka's face is rather slim, however his cheeks have a slight bit more tissue to them. The overall view of his face is very defined. His one major difference in his face is the fact that he was born with heterochromia, leaving his eyes as two different colours- blue and red.
Physique: Hotaka is very slim, but this is mainly due to the fact that eating sufficient amounts of food is not very prior to him. Alongside this, his metabolism is rather high.

Kekkei Genkai Jutsu:

With this technique, the user can quickly form a blade made of crystal on their arm, and use it in a manner reminiscent of a tantō. Blades can be formed on both arms if needed.
• Kesshō no Yoroi [Crystal Armour] ~ C Rank
This technique allows the user to cover their skin with a thin sheet of crystal that improves their defence against physical attacks. This armour can also aid the user to perform stronger physical attacks. The crystal is transparent and can only be noticed by light reflecting off it.
• Hyōton: Tsubame Fubuki [Ice Release: Swallow Snow Storm] ~ C Rank
The Hyōton: Tsubame Fubuki technique creates a cluster of ice needles in the shape of miniature swallows out of pre-existing ice, which the user then throws at the opponent. These needles can change direction in midair and will maim the opponent with their sharp wings.

After having formed black ice, the user may manipulate it to create singular or multiple ravens. These ravens may act as scouts, and can either be manipulated through chakra or left to freely roam. This jutsu has a property in which, the user may see everything that the ravens might see. They have no offensive ability.
• Shōton: Shuriken Ranbu [Crystal Release: Shuriken Wild Dance] ~ B Rank
The user surrounds themselves in crystal particles, condensing them into numerous shuriken which then rain onto the opponent.
• Hakuhyō [Black Ice] ~ B Rank [Custom]
This technique has no major additional effects regarding power. This is a supplementary jutsu, in which the ice formed by Ice Release techniques may change in appearance. Due to specific alterations in the chakra flow- which can be difficult to achieve- the user may change the visual appearance in which the ice is formed. These appearance changes are one of two: either, the ice will become practically transparent, in which it might only be seen due to reflections of light piercing the jutsu; the second, is, in which the ice, itself, becomes a shade of black as if the original substance of which the ice was formed of a consistent black tone. Little is known regarding this jutsu, and it seems reminiscent of the black natured element of Black Lightning, regarding the rare colour tone and visual changes.

Kawarimi no Jutsu is a basic Ninjutsu. When in danger the ninja will quickly substitute themself with another nearby object. This can be a block of wood or even another person. This allows the ninja to quickly flee and hide while the original object takes the brunt of their opponents attack.

Henge no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu which every ninja learns at the Ninja Academy. Henge allows the ninja to transform themselves into any person or object. This allows the ninja to move with stealth or to trick their opponents.

Nawanuke no Jutsu is a very basic Ninjutsu that allows a ninja to escape from rope binds.
• Kinobori no Waza - Act of Tree Climbing ~ E Rank
Kinobori no Waza, the art of tree climbing serves a dual purpose. Taking part in Kinobori Shugyou (Tree Climbing Training) helps a ninja learn how to focus their chakra. It also teaches the ninja how to run up trees and walk on vertical walls. The training helps the ninja learn how to focus just the right amount of chakra to a particular part of their body. The amount needed to climb is small but it must be precise. The feet are regarded as the hardest location to master chakra focusing. So by gaining the art of this skill, the ninja will have any jutsu available (theoretically) because they will be able to focus their chakra as needed.

A variation on the Kinobori no Waza (Act of Tree Climbing), the art of water surface walking allows a ninja to walk on water as if it was a solid surface. Focusing an even amount of chakra out of the soles of their feet, they can balance themselves on the very surface of the water.
• Kirigakure no Jutsu [Hiding in Mist Technique] ~ D Rank
The Kirigakure no Jutsu is a speciality of the ninja from Kirigakure village, where one causes a mist to spring forth by lifting up some water from either a pre-existing source or expelled from their mouth, then goes in and out of sight at will from within the pearly-white realm. The mist's thickness is controlled by the amount of chakra kneaded into it. It can't fool the Byakugan, but, due to the mist being created with the user's chakra, any Sharingan and Rinnegan-user will see the mist coloured by their opponent's chakra, which will effectively hide the user from the dōjutsu.

A more advanced version of the Earth Release: Added-Weight Rock Technique, in which the user drastically increases the weight of any object in direct physical contact [this includes the user's own body], but to a much greater extent than that of the original ability. Under certain circumstances, the technique can be used to increase the force behind attacks.
• Hijutsu: Messatsu Suishiō [Secret Art: Flying Needles of Death and Destruction] ~ B Rank
The user gathers a large amount of water from the air and surrounding environment into more than a thousand needles. They then direct the needles to a specific target, whilst leaping back to avoid damage to themselves.

This genjutsu traps a victim in a powerful illusion with no necessary eye contact; similar to Ephemeral. When activated, the genjutsu projects a torrent of crows, leaving the target at the user's mercy.

This technique exerts an hallucinatory effect upon the eyesight, effectively blinding the opponent. No matter how skilled an opponent may be, they are forced to wait helpless in this world of darkness, as this technique allows the user to attack unseen. Although it negates sight, it does not stop the other senses.

This technique is simply a very quiet method of killing an opponent- usually from behind with a blade. Additionally, because the user moves silently, it cannot be defended against, because the attack cannot be anticipated. The user will often slit their opponent's throat, preventing any cry that might give them away. The Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist are shown to be masters of this technique, and were even good enough to track and kill opponents through sound alone. Some shinobi also opt to use a cover such as mist or even frost to rob their opponents of their field of vision and then attack them.

Suigin is a basic chokutō in appearance. Despite the lacking curves in the blade, Suigin was crafted to deal damage both quickly and effectively. Suigin, as a whole, measures in at 139.7 centimeters [approximately 4.5 feet]. The blade, itself, is very thin so as to both slash and pierce effectively. Despite this, the blade is very durable.
When wielded alone, Suigin has no special properties- it is merely a basic sword. However, when wielded by a user who contains elemental chakra of the Ice Release nature, they may infuse their chakra with the blade, to further strengthen it.
Item Background: While Hotaka was wandering the shinobi world, with no aim and no goal, he had left himself to rest in the crystalline fields of the Snow Country. He had been exhausted, and he thought that it was soon to be his time to pass. As Hotaka closed his eyes, he saw in the corner of his peripheral vision a figure. He was a tall, slender man of a pale complexion, and wrapped in garments and cloaks. Suddenly, he vanished, and before Hotaka realized it, the man was standing before him, with a long, black blade unsheathed. This vague stranger was a rogue ninja.
As Hotaka sat where he was, helplessly, he waited for the man to strike him dead. However, this never happened. The man reached down and laid a hand on Hotaka's shoulder, "My name is Vertigo." From that point, Vertigo had raised Hotaka, and by the time that he was forced separation, the blade Suigin that belonged to his rogue master was now his.

Background:
Hotaka was born into Kirigakure, in Water Country. Upon birth, he had been orphaned, and was forced to live on the streets. This was a traumatic event, and it had seemed likely that his fate was going to be death. Despite this, Hotaka continued to strive to keep himself alive, no matter how weak his connection to life might have been. After several years of continuing the same routines on the cruel streets of which Hotaka now knew so well, he had come to the conclusion that it was now time to leave the place. He did not know where he was going to travel to, nor how he would get there, but he had realized that he would rather be living anywhere else, no matter the place. As days began passing, so did the weeks, and months as Hotaka was remained lost in the shinobi world. He was never noticed in Kirigakure, unless it meant for someone to shun him, point him out amongst the crowds, or gawk at him. Now, along the endless horizon, Hotaka simply wasn't noticed. As time and time continued to pass, he found himself in a land of which seemed to be eternally coated with snow, where there was always a layer blanketing the ground, and there were always flakes raining from the skies. Unknowingly, Hotaka had found himself in Yukigakure, in the Snow Country. And even more unknowingly, this was where he was going to begin making his mark.
