Personality/Mannerism: Kanou is a broken man and a psychotic sociopath. He is a generally twitchy and his mannerisms resemble that of a jester or clown. He finds humor in everything, laughs inappropriately and had no shame. Somewhat extroverted Kanou will know let others know that he is around but won't be the life of the party so to speak. His despotic behavior makes him a bad candidate for any leadership or teaching position. His general lack of morals make him ideal for 'dirty' work.

• Kinobori no Waza - Act of Tree Climbing ~ E Rank
Kinobori no Waza, the art of tree climbing serves a dual purpose. Taking part in Kinobori Shugyou (Tree Climbing Training) helps a ninja learn how to focus their chakra. It also teaches the ninja how to run up trees and walk on vertical walls. The training helps the ninja learn how to focus just the right amount of chakra to a particular part of their body. The amount needed to climb is small but it must be precise. The feet are regarded as the hardest location to master chakra focusing. So by gaining the art of this skill, the ninja will have any jutsu available (theoretically) because they will be able to focus their chakra as needed.

A variation on the Kinobori no Waza (Act of Tree Climbing), the art of water surface walking allows a ninja to walk on water as if it was a solid surface. Focusing an even amount of chakra out of the soles of their feet, they can balance themselves on the very surface of the water.
Earth Release: Hiding Like a Mole Technique -B rank
This technique changes earth into fine sand by channelling chakra into it, allowing the user to dig through it like a mole. This effect goes around the body (not just the hands), making it just large enough for a person to move through. The user can pinpoint where they are, despite being underground, by sensing the magnetic forces. They can also sense what is happening on the surface and use that information to launch a surprise attack on the enemy.One can also hide deep in the ground, escaping to a depth where the enemy can't reach. It also appears that after digging, the ground can be returned to its original state, leaving no trace of where the user entered the earth.
Clay Clone-Nendo Bunshin B-rank
A highly convenient technique, characteristic of Deidara. Above all other "clone techniques", this clone has the double role. It acts as a substitute and a trap for capturing the enemy. Made from clay, this clone can take attacks and capture the enemy by taking them into its own body. The clone shows its natural shape the instant a body goes through. While the clay changes in hardness, the enemy is skilfully immobilised. If explosive clay is added to the clone, it can then make itself explode, taking the enemy with it.
Kage Bunshin no Jutsu-Shadow Clone Technique B-rank
Similar to the Clone Technique, this technique creates clones of the user. However, these clones are actual copies, not illusions. The user's chakra is evenly distributed among every clone, giving each clone an equal fraction of the user's overall power. The clones are capable of performing techniques on their own and can even bleed, but will usually disperse after one or two solid blows, though even then it may not be enough, as evident when during the Fourth Shinobi World War a few more notable clones of Naruto took heavy hits but didn't disperse. The clones can also disperse on their own. The clones will be created in roughly the same condition as the original.

This technique conceals the user underground and drags the object of their attack down into the earth, robbing them of their freedom. In addition, they can start another attack.
Earth Release: Earth-Style Wall B-rank
The user creates a solid wall of earth as a form of defence. Chakra is either converted to earth within the body and then spat out to form the wall or the user can manipulate pre-existing earth to form the wall. The earth then instantly rises up and takes form. The barrier itself is also coated with chakra, making its strength incomparable to that of a normal mud wall. Because of the earth's special characteristics, the wall is highly resistant against, for instance, fire and water. Also, for a Kage-class shinobi it is possible to create a vast volume of earth.
Earth Release: Swamp of the Underworld A-rank
By changing the surface of an object beneath an enemy into mud and creating a swamp, the user can sink his enemy into the mud. The adhesive, chakra-infused mud ensnares the enemy's body, making it almost impossible to recover one's strength and escape from the swamp. The size and depth of the created swamp depends on the user's skill and the amount of chakra used, but if the user is an expert in this technique, it will always be possible to make a fair-sized swamp which is extremely effective against a great number of enemies or when having to face gigantic creatures.

Background:
For one to understand how the child of two simple villagers became the Jester of Sunagakure they must start at the beginning. Kanou Kyosuke is what he is today because of a smile. This smile however, was anything but ordinary! It was so bright that it could outshine the desert sun, so nurturing that it could make flowers grow in the desert, so pure and innocent that it could purge the evil in a man’s heart. This smile belonged to Miku Kyosuke, Kanou’s mother the desert rose that tamed the wild Sasuke Kyosuke. Kanou’s father was the notorious Sasuke 'Oni' Kyosuke, a shin obi of Iwagakure. He was renown for his extreme and borderline villainous professionalism. If the job needed to be done he would be the one to carry it out. If an entire village needed to be razed to the ground he’d do it without second thought, everything was a means to an end. The few who knew Sasuke thought he was cold and distant, eventually people began believing him more demon than man. This was when he received his moniker. This evil taint would be passed down from father to son.
Kanou's parents met rather unexpectedly, Sasuke made his way through the streets of Suna on a mission from Iwagakure to better tensions between the villages. He bumped into the young Miku as she exited a store. She apologized immediately when she noticed the headband. To no surprise Sasuke responded coldly but admitted it was his fault. That was when it happened, Miku smiled at the man's response. This action forever changed the man. His heart melted, there were no other words to describe what happened to him. He became instantly infatuated. After a couple of years of visiting and courting Miku eventually fell in love with Sasuke and the two married. This was a rough patch in their lives as she would not leave her home land. Sasuke Knowing it was the right choice decided to retire from his life and immigrate to Suna. This was easier said than done however, as his career made him a dangerous and wanted man. After much paperwork, favors and luck he was able to leave his country and his duties so he could start a new life with his young wife and unborn child.
Kanou was born a few months later in Sunagakure. Sasuke became mail runner knowing that his life as a shinobi was over. It was honest work and his family could live comfortably. As a child Kanou was energetic and and troublesome. He would give his mother all she could handle. There was nothing more important to him than his mother. Since his father's work caused him to be away for relatively long periods Kanou spent a majority of his time by his mother's side. Always listening to her words. 'Smile and be happy.' Around the age of 5 Kanou's parent began discussing the possibility of him entering the Sunagakure academy. His mother, a pacifist, was against the idea while his father who was a product of the academy system felt that there were many benefits beside the military training. Eventually the couple agreed and at the age of 7 Kanou entered the academy. This would have repercussions neither would have expected.
Sasuke Kyosuke had a very unique Iwagakure kekki genkai, by allowing his son to join the Sunagakure academy he'd had been branded a traitor by the new administration. One night during the summer break Kanou was woken by the screams of his mother. An elite squad of Iwagakure shinobi had crossed into Suna with the sole purpose of eliminating his family. The young boy ran into the his parent's room t see blood and corpses all around. In a corner his father laid lifeless bleeding from multiple wounds, he'd killed the squad but had been fatally wounded. The traumatized boy stood quietly trying to make sense of the carnage. When he heard a cough, causing his entire body to shake. He moved slowly towards the sound, he rounded the the bed to see his mother trying to raise herself from the ground bleeding much like his father. When she noticed her son standing silently and waved him over. Smiling even in that situation. She held him in her arms and whispered that it would be alright, repeating the words, 'Don't worry just smile and be happy' until her last breath. Kanou stayed there smiling and chucking, trying to be happy just as his mother wished until a Suna squad tore him from her arms the following morning. The Kazekage was outraged upon hearing the story. Iwagakure's temerity could not go unpunished. However, The Kazekage would not risk war over one family especially considering Iwagakure had suffered more casualties from the endeavor. Instead the Kazekage chose a different action, he would train Kanou hopefully nurture his hate and make him an indisputable asset to Suna. Eventually Kanou rose to the rank of Chunin. His has yet to be promoted due to a legitimate fear that if he were let loose he might set off a war. At the end of the day he is more a weapon for Suna than a human being.
