Warner knew Strikeforce had the beer bottle in hand and how legal it was. AJ went for a baseball slide to the legs of Strikeforce in hopes to knock him to the ground and start shifting momentum of this match.

Even to a rookie like Thompson a baseball slide is very predictable...and avoidable. Seeing as Thompson was close to the ring apron he would simply side step Warner and let him slide to the outside again....giving a slight leverage advantage to Thompson who would be on higher ground if Warner went to the outside.

AJ slid out of the ring, but shortly after landing on his feet, he went to pull Strikeforce's legs out from under him. He was pissed that this rookie was reading him like a book.

Well, it doesn't help AJ's case that his book is a best seller. Strikeforce had planned to take a risk and go airborne, but didn't have the time to as The Bad Chyld took his feet out from under him, and he hit the mat with an oversold bump onto his back.
