It's hard to find an apartment near the downtown core with with a closed bedroom for under $700/month... especially if I want that to include heating and/or have a washer/dryer in the apartment rather than in the building.
I guess I'm asking for a lot without much money to give...

I've been looking at housing for a 1 bedroom suite pre furnished, and they're going around 900. But right now it's just students trying to sublet on their lease for the summer. So I'm moving onto campus for the summer then will have to look for a place for September. It'll be easier once I know if I'm going to need one more term or if enough classes I want to take are offered so I can graduate this time next year.

I've always found the concept of a furnished place kinda gross... no idea how old the couch/bed/otherclothfurniture is.
There are a shitton of summer sublets to sift through here. There are also people trying to give up the end of their lease (thus with option to renew).
Good luck with sorting out your housing.

It's kinda gross, but I'm typically only in school for 8 months so the place at the very least has to have a bed, desk, and perhaps some kitchen stuff.

Wow, my brother Blaine has a 3 bedroom 2 bath apartment with washer/dryer in stuff and it's only 775$ a month (my former residence from June 2009 to Dec 2012).
My brother Brandon and his gay lover also have a 3 bedroom 2 bath apartment but no washer/dryer hookups and is only 699$ a month. But this is Las Cruces, NM.
My girlfriend owns a home in Alamogordo, NM and is like 800$ a month mortgage which I think is crazy. Since my grandpa/grandpa's house in El Paso Texas is only like 795$ month and is 3 bedroom/2 bath w/garage and pool and washer dryer (yeah I said garage, my 2 brothers apartments don't have those). I just think she is paying too much for a house that used to be a 2 bedroom/1 bath w/garage and washer/dryer hookups.

Well price depends on where it's located. I could get a nice big place for cheap if wanted to live in the boonies.
Housing prices downtown are over a thousand for a nice small apartment.

Housing here is just in general expensive. The people around the university know students need housing, so they're willing to rent without following renter codes, and basically cheating students who they think don't know the law.
Right now we're dealing with our current landlady trying to get back in the country after being gone for 4 months and we move out at the end of this month.

So yeah so horrible. My friend Doug decided to go back with his parents in Las Cruces since he couldn't live with us anymore. Even though when we decided to leave with him with his parents they were living with a freaken MOTEL for chris sakes. Which USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN THEY GET EVICTED FROM A HOME THEY LIVED IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you WANNA KNOW THE DEFINITION OF WHAT A POOR DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILY IN AMERICA LOOKS LIKE THEY WILL FILL IT NICELY. THE DONALDSON FAMILY IN LAS CRUCES NEW MEXICO. HORRIBLE!!!!!!! CAN'T BELIEVE MY FRIEND DOUG CHOSE TO GO BACK TO THEM RATHER THAN CHOOSE TO GET A ged TO BETTER HIS LIFEE; HIS FAMILY IS THE DEFINITION OF POVERTY TO THE CORE

Does that suck for us in the southwest cuz if any place is going to turn into another MEXICO is is going to be the SOUTHWEST US which is the states of California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. IF ANYPLACE IS going to turn into MEXICOLIFORNICATION OR WHATEVER IT IS CALLED then IT WILL BE THOSE PLACES FIRST!!!!!!!!!! ESPECIALLY TEXAS/CALIF/AND NEW MEXICO. In 20 years from now every job I apply to will prefer that I am bilingual. It sucks. It will happen in NEW MEXICO first than any other state since NM has the most hispanics AND WILL CONTINUE THAT WAY!!!!!!!! We even elected a ******** new governor in 2010 cuz she won the hispanic vote. It's stupid.
