<You had wanted to talk to the greenrider weyrling, the one who reportedly attacked a guard?> Melangth asked her suddenly when the two of them were enjoying their lunch outside one afternoon.
Alia looked up. <I had.>
<Well, that is her.> he said, turning her head in their direction.

Alia pushed herself to her feet and brushed the dust off her hands. Looking in the direction that Melangth indicated, she spotted a young woman acompanied by a green dragon, probably coming back from their weyrling lessons. She smiled.

Oh, this would be fun.

Admittedly, Alia wasn't very good with kids (or teens, which she still counted as kids). That was why she'd avoided interviews with most of the weyrlings so far. But upon hearing about a guard-candidate and, what was more, one who had started something of an uprising on the Sands, she had Melangth make some enquiries.

So, dropping her half-eaten meat roll back in the basket, Alia abandoned her lunch and ran after them. Actually, on second thought, she brought the basket with her. It never hurt to use food as an offering in exchange for someone's time, and then maybe she'd get to finish her lunch after all.

"Well-l-l." she said stopping and putting a hand on her hip once she'd caught up. She looked them both over, still smiling. "Atheth and J'akki, I pressume?" she asked, loud enough to catch their attention. "I heard you two got up to quite the excitement this recent hatching. Is it really true you tackled an armed guard?" she asked, showing her teeth in a wide smile.

After giving a look that conveyed a general rolling-of-eyes at his rider's overly approving tone, Melangth turned his attention to the green. <Greetings, young one. What my rider has failed to mention is that we are Alia and Melangth from the Dragonwatch. I heard you may have complaints about the affairs at your hatching. If so, you may voice them now. We will listen and convey them to proper authorities.>
