(I honestly have nothing. It's just a means of fighting and I can't devise any sort of backstory with it without knowing the guild story first.)


Rules for Style:
• Must be Swordsman with a Scythe
• Must have Wind Elemental Affinity
• Cannot be a Beastman
• Must have small frame [Under 5'10" and 120 lbs is required]
• Must learn abilities in order


Style Strengths:
• Uses technical movements that are unnatural to non-practitioners
• Difficult to counter combination movements from this style
• Blends magic and weapon fighting for increased killing potential
• Allows fast movement with a large, heavy weapon


Style Weaknesses:
• Lacks in brute strength
• Does not provide many means of defense
• Countered hard by strong magic
• Ineffective against strong defenses

xxxxxx▪ The practitioner extends their reach with the scythe and swings. They swing so that the blade with end up behind the target and then they would pull. If used with one hand [only once technique is learned in second stage], then the practitioner can use the free hand to cast a wind spell to push the target back and increase killing potential.

xxxxxxD ▪ Physical Method ▪ Passive once learned
xxxxxx▪ The focus of the style is to use ones own, small body to maneuver with the scythe acting almost as a fulcrum point. Learning how to perform the Balancing Act requires that the practitioner not use the scythe to attack directly for a total of fifteen [15] posts. The practitioner must use the scythe simply to maneuver around and attack from while using their own body or magical abilities. Stabbing the blade into the ground and standing atop the end of the staff would be viable training if they can use it to fight against a monster or another person. Once this training is done, the practitioner would be able to use the scythe to hook themselves to any, solid object or can stab the blade into any, solid surface and use it to fight from.
Note to RPer: Think creatively. You can swing from a light post and evade or you can jump off of the end of the staff, grab the scythe, do a flip for aesthetic appeal, and cleave down on a zombie's head. It's like parkour with a scythe. Have fun with it, but keep it within this RP universe's limits.

xxxxxx▪ If the practitioner can come at the target from a high vantage point, they can perform this technique with maximum efficiency. The practitioner launches themselves at a target with the force to knock them over [provided they have enough strength]. They will use a method similar to "Pull" and will place the blade of the scythe behind the target. If they knock the target down while doing this, they will throw a knee into the target opposite of the blade. The hit will shove the body down against the blade and attempt to cleave through them. This technique is intended to be aimed at the neck so that it causes decapitation.

xxxxxx▪ As the practitioner jumps, they use their Wind Affinity to kick off the air with a gust of wind being launched from their feet. This can be used to allow the practitioner to jump higher on a first jump, evade by jumping in a different direction, or allowing the practitioner to get higher with a second jump. This can only be used once before the practitioner lands on the ground again.

xxxxxx▪ The practitioner swings the scythe violently in front of them. As they do this, they cast a gust of wind in front of them. It stretches wide and travels about fifteen meters. It can push back most things and deflect projectiles, provided that they aren't heavy like a cannonball.

xxxxxx▪ The practitioner lifts the scythe in the air and begins to twirl it clockwise with the blade trailing in back. The use their Wind Affinity to cast a magic ability to create a vacuum vortex. This vortex is directly linked to the scythe's twirling. As the scythe twirls, the vacuum grows in power every second and will eventually pull targets closer. Depending on the weight of the target, it takes longer to begin pulling them. Unless they are extremely light, the target will be pulled with resistance and will likely be dragged into the vacuum. Targets can grab hold to objects in order to prevent them from being dragged in.

Stage Two

xxxxxx▪ Now the the practitioner is much more capable of fighting with a scythe at this point, they would need to practicing using the scythe with one hand in order to further massive the tricky fighting style that is learned as they further their understanding of this style. To master this skill, the practitioner must spend fifteen [15] posts in training. The first five[5] posts must be about adjusting to using one hand. The second five [5] posts must be fighting something or someone. Winning is not necessary at this time. The last five [5] posts must involve practicing a modified version of "Pull".
Note to RPer: However you modify "Pull" is up to you. This style allows and encourages creativity. Just keep it within your limits. Also, unless the technique normally requires two-hands to perform it, then you do not need to pay extra cost.


xxx▪ Techniques Name ⊰ Sweep the Leg!
xxxxxxD ▪ Fusion Method ▪ [ 10 ] Stamina
xxxxxx▪ The practitioner performs the move "Pull", but aims the attack at the ankles of the target. This attack is performed with one hand while the free hand fires a blast of wind at the target's torso so that the target is stuck taking the hit at the torso and incapable of dodging the the hit coming from below. This maneuver is intended to remove the feet and/or shins of the target, usually rendering them incapable of escaping or fighting back.

xxxxxx▪ The practitioner will gather winds around the blade of the scythe and then swing violently in a direction, releasing the winds. Two gusts of winds will take on an almost solid appearance, much like a pair of blades. The two gusts will be arranged in an "X" manner and can slice into bone, but not through it on the first try. If a second attack were to hit, then the bones would be torn through.
Note: After using this technique, a one [1] post cooldown is required before using any magic-related technique in this style.

xxxxxx▪ The practitioner will swing the butt of the staff upward from below the target and send a concentrated blast of wind up at the target. As the swing carries through, the target is lifted into the air and left vulnerable.

xxxxxx▪ The practitioner now is becoming so much more comfortable with meshing together magic with weapon fighting that they can use magic in extremely minor ways, but now achieving a very effective end. With every swing of the scythe, the range of attack would normally seem to grow smaller. Enemies tend to catch onto your maximum range in a long fight. A way to surprise the enemy would be to extend the range of your attack just slightly without allowing the enemy to notice. This technique can be used on any swing in the blink of an eye without detection. At a critical second, the practitioner can use a small amount of magic to create a bladed edge of wind just along the edge of the scythe's blade. This extends out to increase the cutting range by three inches without detections. Cutting ability is also increased so that simple iron would be torn through. Steel will be scratched deeply, but not torn through.
Note: This can be activated instantly when the user is not on a cooldown and can be sustained or removed instantly. However, every post it is sustained there is a payment of Stamina and every activation requires a payment of Stamina.

xxxxxx▪ The practitioner readies themselves for a mad dash in one direction. They then launch themselves a full force and let loose a massive explosion of wind magic behind them in order to send them flying forward with incredible speed and strength. As they travel, the practitioner with swing the scythe at incredible speeds. This technique is capable of leveling field of creatures with ease. The ferocity of this attack is also difficult to guard against.


Stage Three

xxx▪ Techniques Name ⊰ Bladed Gale Barrage
xxxxxxB ▪ Magical Method ▪ [ 40 ] Stamina
xxxxxx▪ The practitioner takes what he has learned about applying magic directly to weapon fighting and adapts the original "Blade Gale" technique. The practitioner will charge up a large amount of magic energy into the blade of the scythe and ready the attack by pulling it back for a full force swing. The practitioner then puts all of their strength into one swing and lets loose ten [10] blade of wind that will cure out or up into the air and then converge on and around the target.
Note: After using this technique, the practitioner cannot use any technique involve wind magic from this style until a three [3] post cooldown has passed.

xxxxxxB ▪ Fusion Method ▪ [ 40 ] Stamina
xxxxxx▪ This technique is simple in thought, but difficult in practice. The practitioner will launch their scythe forward so that it spin horizontally in the direction it is thrown. The practitioner can use their wind magic to manipulate it slightly so that it can curve, but they cannot freely control its movement patterns. At any point, the practitioner can create a vacuum from their hands that is link directly to the scythe and recall it back to them.


xxx▪ Techniques Name ⊰ Sonic Cutter
xxxxxxC ▪ Fusion Method ▪ [ 20 ] Stamina
xxxxxx▪ When the practitioner swings the scythe, they can amplify the swing so that it moves at near-sonic speed. By releasing a blast of wind at the butt of the scythe's blade, the practitioner increases the speed of the swing in a short burst so that it moves to a speed that cannot be countered without a Reaction Stat of over one hundred, fifty points [ 150 ] and can tear through any metal.

xxxxxx▪ By distilling the around around the blade of the scythe and causes a severe change in air pressure, electrical field are produced instantaneously and surround the blade of the scythe. The conductivity of a metal blade on a scythe allow the currents of electricity to sustain themselves for up to three [ 3 ] posts. These electrical currents can cause paralysis of living creatures and, in some cases, will kill if the conditions prove deadly.

xxxxxx▪ The practitioner mounts their scythe in any way that would be viable to ride a vehicle. Most would mount the scythe like a witch's broom, but some daredevils go for the cooler route and mount it like a surfboard. The practitioner then applies their magical abilities to create an air current strong enough to lift and guide them through the air while they ride the scythe. Every three [ 3 ] posts, this skill must pay an upkeep of 80 stamina points.

xxxxxx▪ The practitioner now is ready for the most powerful technique that sa master of wind magic and scythe wielding can offer. They will first use their knowledge of flight to lift off into the air and get to a vantage point that is nearly impossible for others to get to. They will use a massive amount of magical energy to call upon a storm above. The storm will roll in and become full after waiting one [ 1 ] post. After the wait, the practitioner will create spiraling winds coming down from above and cause a tornado to touch down on the ground. This tornado will ravage the area for a total of four [ 4 ] posts. The practitioner, during the whole time this tornado is active, can keep themselves from being sucked in and thrown by repelling the gale forces with their own magic. Only those who know this technique can resist the strength of it. Those who know this technique can fight as they would normally, but cannot use any magical techniques other than "Flight".

Style History:
Chinese boxing or gung fu is one of the oldest fighting arts known to the mankind. Gung fu being a part of Chinese culture has a history as long and as confusing as the Chinese history itself. Therefore it is impossible to write about the history and roots of Chinese Martial Arts in a few pages. So what you will find here is a brief history of Chinese Martial arts in general and Hung Gar in specific.

Learning about the history and origins of a style is important as it will help and improve ones understanding of the style and increase ones knowledge of technique, tradition, philosophy and principles of the style practiced. As mentioned before gung fu is a part of Chinese culture and by learning about the history of gung fu you will also learn about the Chinese Culture and traditions. The development of gung fu in general has been greatly influenced by many elements of Chinese culture such as religion, beliefs, philosophy and politics.

Buddhism and Taoism especially had strong influences and played an important role in the development of Gung Fu. For example, a fundamental teaching of Taoism, Yin Yang ; the two basic principles which govern the universe can be found in many different Chinese Martial Art styles. Yin Yang is a cosmic dualistic approach where two opposing forces flow into one another and constantly interact to create all things and all development. Yin represents the negative or passive female principle.Yang represents the positive or active male principle. According to Taoist, these two inseparable forces where one can not exist without the other are the basic principles of the universe. These principles had a strong influence on the development of Chinese martial art systems.

Like Taoism, Buddhism has also played a great role on the development of Chinese martial arts. Legendary Siu Lam - Shaolin kung fu of the Buddhist temple Shaolin(Mandarin)/Siu Lam(Cantonese) is the best example of this.

xxxxxx▪ The practitioner begins their training by honing their resilience to damage. If a blunt force were t impact their torso, the practitioner could easily take the blow while using this technique. They will tense up their body and inhale deeply. Right as the moment of impact arrives, they would release the air in their lungs and remain tense for only another second. They will then loosen up and follow up with their own reaction. The breathing technique has been used for many centuries in martial arts and is an effective way to reduce the damage received in a physical fight.

xxxxxx▪ The practitioner rotates their body and pivots on the ball of their front food. They move their body inward and shove their leg that's coming around closer to the target. The goal of using this quick motion is to place the practitioner's body in as close as possible to the target. This makes it difficult for the target to attack and allows practitioners of this style to gain an upper hand by using other techniques learned.

xxxxxx▪ The practitioner simply shoves a straight palm at the target, aimng at the sternum. The strike is dealt with the heel of the palm. Masters of this style could easily shatter the sternum of the target with this blow. It is also intended to be used with either arm.

xxxxxx▪ The practitioner now uses one of the traditional movements of many martial arts forms and adapts it to their elemental affinity. The practitioner will raise their front leg and drop down their foot with tremendous force. As they do this, they send a shockwave through the ground that will knock most targets off balance within five feet.

xxxxxx▪ The practitioner simply lowers their body and then shoves two palms at an upward angle, aiming at the sternum. This technique is meant to shatter the sternum and launch the target back with a powerful blow.

xxxxxx▪ The practitioner will perform the "Upward Double Palm" technique, but this time will not aim to make physical contact. Instead, they will manipulate the earth below then to create a short pillar of earth that rises from below the target. The pillar comes out at an angle that is directed to hit the chest of the target and launch them back. When paired with "Quake Stomping" this technique can be used with extreme effectiveness.

xxxxxx▪ The practitioner can skillfully and quickly slide their palm onto the arm, leg, or weapon of an attacker and push the attack down. This is easily followed up with a counter strike to higher targets on the opponent's body, such as the throat or face.

xxxxxx▪ Any attack coming straight at the practitioner will be easily parried by this technique. The practitioner will push the attack upward and then wrap their hand around it if able. They then follow this with up to three, rapid palm strikes to two areas, the sternum or the throat.

The practitioner will stomp on the ground, creating a small quake around ten meters of the epicenter and then will slide their foot forward about five inches. The earth below the target will shift back behind them and cause them to fall forward. If they managed to maintain balance, the practitioner can reach out and grab the back of their neck to keep hold of them. As they either fall or are pushed down, their throat will fall down to the knee of the practitioner. This is then followed up with an elbow strike from the practitioner's free arm. The strike is aimed at the back of the neck, right above where the practitioner's other hand would be. This pincer strike could shatter the spinal column in the neck and destroy the trachea instantaneously.

xxxxxx▪ Like in the "Rock Palms" technique, the practitioner wil hit the ground with their palms. The earth, however, will not create something like a gauntlet of earth. The earth will encase the fingers only in sharp spikes. For ten posts, the practitioner will fight with claws on their hands, raising the Physical Strength by 15% (minimum of +10).


Stage Three

xxxxxx▪ As an attack come straight at the practitioner, they will parry the attack outward and then claw at the target's eyes. If intended to kill or blind, they can gouge the eyes of the target. They then follow up by shifting one foot back about an inch, causing the earth to shift and send the target's legs flying in front of them. The practitioner then lifts the target and brings them down head-first and shoves their head into the earth all the way to their collar bone.

xxxxxx▪ The practitioner will parry any attack to the side and, when able to, place one their legs between the legs of the opponent. A palm strike will be aimed to the sternum as the free hand grabs the back of the neck and pushes the opponent down, bending their body forward. With a tap of the foot, the practitioner causes a pillar of earth to rise from the ground and slam into the face of the opponent. The practitioner then grabs the opponent and throws them away.

xxxxxx▪ The practitioner can evade a low, sweeping attack by jumping upward and placing both palms on the head of the attacker. The practitioner uses this movement to vault over the opponent. When the practitioner lands, then shift their feet by turning them outward and then pivoting on one foot to face the attacker. As this movement is made, earth will grasp the ankles of the opponent. The practitioner then lets loose up to five palm strikes to the kidneys of the opponent. As this occurs, the practitioner stomps on the ground. Every stomp sends a chunk of earth flying upward from the ground and at the gut of the opponent. After the five strikes and stomps are done, the braces on the opponent's legs break.

xxxxxx▪ If a two-handed physical strike (no weapons, just hands) comes at the practitioner, they will parry by grabbing the hands of the the attacker, twisting them outward and bending them back. This could easily snap the tendons in the wrists. The practitioner follows up by three quick finger jabs at the trachea.

xxxxxx▪ If a strike comes at the practitioner, they grab the strike, pull it closer, and counter by kicking the target. The kick is aimed directly into the side of the target, below the ribs. Before the practitioner kicks, though, they will twist their heel into the earth and raise it, bringing with it a spike of earth on their heel. This spike can pierce easily through the body.

xxxxxx▪ The practitioner will grab hold of the opponent and then stomp on the ground. A vice made of stone will appear about three feet behind the target. The practitioner can shove the opponent into this vice and then stomp again to shut it on them, skewering them and likely ending their life. The vice will remain closed for five seconds before crumbling. If the vice doesn't shut within two of the practitioner's posts.

xxxxxx▪ The practitioner will focus all of their magical energy through their legs and take a firm stance on the ground. With a powerful stomp, they will cause a dragon made of earth to rise from the ground and fly forward toward the target. It is as large as home and as long as a football field. This dragon cannot be redirected, but can turn slightly so that it is harder to evade.

If the afflicted target speaks more than six [ 6 ] words while under the effects of this curse, they will lose their ability to speak until their wounds can be healed by Purity Magic. This seal lasts four [ 4 ] of the caster's posts.
