A turn-based strategy game on an X, Y plane where units move to accomplish something. FE practically almost IS a virtual board game. Throw in some PvP (like⦠FETO) and you're there. Only thing is odds are determined by an RNG as opposed to rolling anything.
Fire Emblem has PLENTY in common with board games and could totally work as one. But I find the idea just as redundant as I find it viable.

I see it working more as a tabletop game (like DnD) rather than an actual board game (ie, Monopoly or Clue, though could probably work just fine if it was something like Risk ((oh, oh! Make the teams the various countries or factions in FEF or any FE game and the generals are the leaders of those armies like Marth or Chrom and the units you command in your quest for dominance or mission card are the people who fight under you. Naturally not all of these will have named units and could work just as well with nameless units. It'd be an interesting variation to Risk))).
I am curious to see what ideas he could offer though.

You read my mind exactly about Risk. >>; To OP: To be honest, it depends what sort of game are you making? Like will it be strategy game like Risk or an DnD version type? You need to be specify as to what sort of game you want FE to be.

Fenixfury ok then how about a Fire emblem game for PC? As in, having the same game format and mechanism that was in its system (aka: FE7 and 8 on GBA, FE9 on Gamecube, FE10 on Wii, etc)? If like that, I will SO buy it, especially if Nintendo decide to use the previous FE games (aka: FE4 and Gaiden) in its original and not the remake. There are times where I want to play those games again, but don't have the emulator and such. gonk Yes, I'm aware we can download the FE games in emulators and stuff, but I don't know if I have enough space as well as the emulators to use. >>;

I definitely agree with the idea of if FE was made into a board game it would be much more like a tabletop; easy to customize all kinds of session ideas, although the mechanics would probably have to be whittled down a bit, like make the system on a less than d20.
Personally having FE on PC wouldn't be much of a selling point. I suppose it's just the compact feel that does it, but being able to put FE on PC is a call for more opportunities, to make the game bigger than it already is.
A FE MMO would be interesting, if done right. I guess the overall inclusive feel of the game makes it difficult to imagine overall, but in the end more games never hurts.
