[Elemental Illusions]

• Thunder Trap
- Lightning
- The target must enter the area of affect.
Flashing a series of signs the user "primes" an area or object with a conditional genjutsu. Whenever someone crosses the said area or tampers with said object loud thunder is sounded and can be heard well from everywhere. While partially unsettling for most people who were just walking around or touching something the genjutsu does nothing more then alert the setter of this genjutsu that someone set off one of his signals.

• Annoying Dust
- Earth
- The genjutsu is active when cast.
This simple genjutsu makes a person feel as if there was a speck of dust in their eye, irritating it. Although not damaging, it can cause the victim to lose concentration and also make him continually rub his eyes in an attempt to get the nonexistent dust speck out.

• Poison Ivy
- Earth
- The target must enter the area of affect.
A genjutsu inspired by the poison ivy and oak plentiful in the forests of Earth Country, it causes the victim to feel as if he was touched by poison ivy. The user feels irritating itching and pain on his skin, and begins to scratch away.

• Chameleon
- Earth
- The genjutsu is active upon being cast.
Forming chakra in the area around them, the user creates a basic genjutsu that’s purpose is to help blend their body in with whatever surroundings are available. The illusion is not perfect however and higher ranked shinobi are far more adept in seeing through the genjutsu.

• Distortion
- Sound
- The target must be able to hear the trigger, even if it is just a word or clap or ping or tick.
This jutsu distorts the hearing of the opponent, causing the sounds of the user to appear to be coming from every direction. Commonly used to confuse the target concerning his foe’s location, or used to intimidate the one’s adversary by convincing him that he is surrounded.

• Do I smell...?
- Fire
- The target must enter the area of affect.
Nobody likes the idea of being burned alive in a big fire, so naturally when someone smells smoke, they tend to want to get out of there before things get worse. So this genjutsu makes the opponent smell smoke, thus leading them to believe that it is likely a fire has been set. This is an excellent distraction that works under almost any circumstance, since fires can exist almost anywhere.

• Whispering Winds
- Wind
- This genjutsu is active upon cast.
After the appropriate seals, the target will feel hot breath on one ear and hear an unintelligible whisper. This usually causes a good distraction.

• Water in the Ear
- Water
- The target must enter the area of affect.
When caught in this Genjutsu, the target feels like a random drop of water has fallen into their ear and worked it's way into their inner ear canal. The user's hearing then becomes muffled, but everything also seems to get louder at the same time, much like when you get water in your ear after swimming. This feeling obviously can serve as a distraction due to the distorted noise around you, as well as the discomfort of feeling water roll around in your ear drum, especially when you can't get it out.

• Cloud Clone
- Lightning
- The genjutsu is active upon casting.
The user creates a genjutsu-based replication of himself, although assuming the speed of a user (if not faster sometimes) this clone is unable to attack an opponent as it is not a physical replication. In return however instead of the bunshin dissipating when hit like a standard bunshin the attack goes through the clone, at the most causing it to separate and then recombine. Can eventually cause overexertion of the target.

• Rotting Flesh
- Earth
- The target must enter the area of affect.
A genjutsu that makes a person imagine the smell of rotting flesh permeating through the air. This causes a loss of concentration, nausea, and sometimes vomiting.

• Sand Storm
- Sand
- The target must enter the area of affect.
The user forces the target of the technique to see and feel a small focused sandstorm. The sandstorms varies in severity based on the users intelligence, and the sandstorm can even carry with it additional objects to cause the target concern such as scorpions or small weapons.

• Heavy Mist
- Water
- Target(s) must enter the area of affect.
In the eyes of the target(s), a large, thick fog has descended upon the surrounding area causing confusion among the senses. Key to realizing that this is a genjutsu and not the actual Hidden Mist technique is by the feel of the Mist. The mist contains no actual substance and will not feel moist when touched and unlike the natural mist, the temperature does not drop even in the slightest.

• Through the Looking Glass
- Sound
- The target must see the hand seals of the user.
With a few hand seals the user shatters their opponent's vision. For the next 4 posts the target will see the world as if they were looking through a pane of broken glass. This type of compound vision tends to make it a lot harder to decide exactly where something is by presenting a multitude of images and if nothing else it is extremely annoying but it isn't inherently dangerous.

• Illusion Bells
- Sound
- Target must be able to hear the user.
The user will create an illusionary ringing at a certain frequency and the sound directly affects the brain. This is able to disorient the opponent and create minor illusions. This will cause the target to become ill, experience headaches, as well as nausea.

• Release the Hounds
- Wind
- The target must be able to hear the user.
The user acts like he/she is summoning a creature, and if the opponent watches, they will hear what sounds like a large pack of hunting dogs appear behind them and run toward him while barking.

• Continuous Cloud
- Lightning
- The target must enter the area of affect.
An offshoot version of the original Cloud Clone Technique that is generally used to cause a diversion giving the user time to run away. The user creates around 6 or so roughly generated Cloud Clones, these clones have the same capability as the previous Cloud Clones do. However, when a Clone is hit instead of going through the clone, like it normally does in the technique, the clone instead explodes into a spread of smoke-like fog that becomes denser, stronger, and harder to dispel with every clone that is hit.

• Rapid Mudslide
- Earth
- The target must see the user's hand seals.
The user can cause the opponent to see, hear, and feel a huge river of mud come crashing forward at a high velocity. This confuses, distracts, and, if the “river” hits the opponent, cause the body to believe it is drowning and being hit by mud from all sides.

• Taste of Sand
- Sand
- The target must see the user's hand signs.
The victim will feel as if the sand is filling their mouth, no matter if they keep it closed. It will trick their brain into thinking they cannot breathe and if this genjutsu is not released the victim could definitely pass out.

• Pantomime
- Sound
- The target must be able to hear the user.
For the next 3 posts, the target will believe they are trapped in a small, invisible and soundproof box. They will be granted the full abilities of a mime and as such they can trace the walls, bang on the sides, and scream without making a sound and with perfect accuracy. The jutsu is also dispelled if anything enters the box.

• Drowning Assassination
- Water
- The target must see the user's hand seals.
This genjutsu makes the target believe he/she has been trapped in the Water Prison technique, and the user can take the genjutsu one step further by putting their arm into the prison. At that moment, the target will then believe that they are indeed drowning. The target will feel as if water is in their throat and begin to suffocate.

• Reinforcing Wind
- Wind
- The target must be able to hear the phrase.
The genjutsu is cast when the caster says confidently that they will boost the ninja's speed to make things more interesting. When caught in the jutsu, every time the opponent moves, it feels like a wind is pushing them. As a result, they believe that they are moving extremely fast. This jutsu has two main uses:
1) The target will be too afraid to move and feel that if they do move, they won't be able to keep control of themselves.
2) When they are moving the target will feel like they are so fast nobody could possibly keep up. However, in actuality, the caster is easily able to match their movements. As a result, the affected believes that even with a speed boost, they are more than a match for the ninja.

• Desert Island Hunger Heat Haze
- Fire
- The user must make eye contact with the target.
While locked in this genjutsu, the target will feel an extreme hunger. So extreme in fact that even teammates look like delicious treats, and in this illusion, the target will "run up" and bite a chunk out of a teammate (the one the target favors most, if applicable in either a relationship manner or strategic manner). Upon savoring the morsel, the target will see the teammate as he/she normally is with a chunk missing from his/her windpipe and thrashing around on the ground choking on their own blood. After a few moments of horror, the genjutsu ends. If there are no teammates to "attack" in the genjutsu, then the target will bite a chunk out of his/her own arm instead.

• Burning Earth
- Fire
- The target must be able to see the user's handseals.
In this genjutsu, the target sees that caster perform handsigns and slam his/her hands into the ground. All surfaces of the setting then becomes super hot, heating up the target's footwear to the point where their feet start to burn. As you can imagine, the inability to touch something without being burned is quite frustrating, distracting, and painful (like stepping on a hot frying pan). If the target is somehow capable of keeping themselves from touching their surroundings at all, then their feet will still mysteriously have a burning feeling.

• Lightning Rain
- Lightning
- The target must see the hand signs.
This skill calls on a true lightning storm. Lighting appears to rain down everywhere just missing the target. The lightning appears to respond to movement by the target and will strike closer if they should dare to move. This technique is highly effective as it seems to produce all the smells, sounds, and effect of actual lightning. Its most dangerous aspect comes into play if and when the target makes a lot of movements. The lightning will ‘strike’ the target causing pain and even seeming to cause burns, along with the smell of burnt flesh.

• Forest Destruction
- Earth
- The target must enter the area of affect.
A genjutsu that can only be used in forests (ie. the redwood forests of Earth Country etc.). The opponent sees, hears, and feels trees falling all around him, threatening to crush him. He moves out of the way, making himself open to attacks. He can even hit standing trees by accident, because he sees them as falling and crashing, not standing still.

• Deepest Part of the Earth
- Earth
- The target has to see the user's hand seals.
The genjutsu forces the opponent to believe that he is in a deep, dark pit, with the opening to the pit a hundred feet away. The walls of the pit are slimy, so impossible to climb. The causes the opponent to panic, to become claustrophobic, to suffocate etc. It will appear as if the earth below them has opened and swallowed them.

• War Brand
- Fire
- The target must see the handseals.
The target feels the flat a heated sword pressed diagonally across their back, resulting in a moment of excruciating pain.

• Scorpion Swarm
- Sand
- The target must enter the area of affect.
A genjutsu that makes the target believe they have dozens of black scorpions crawling all over their body. On their head, face, feet, inside and outside their clothing, everywhere. It makes them freeze out of fear, and if the user decides to make the scorpions ‘sting’, the idea that he has been lethally poisoned can make the opponent actually break out in cold sweat and raise his body temperature to a feverish state.

• Freezing Desert Night
- Sand
- The target must enter the area of affect.
This genjutsu affects the opponent’s eyesight by creating the illusion that it is night time. Everything will appear to be dark and shadowy, making it hard to see. It also makes it feel as though the temperature has dropped dramatically just like it would at night in the desert. The longer this jutsu lasts the colder the target will feel, potentially to such an extent that the target can die, though that rarely ever occurs.

• Painful Ringing
- Sound
- The target must enter the area of affect.
This genjutsu is similar to the Illusion Bells technique. However, instead of causing nausea and vertigo, it progressively causes more pain as long as the target listens to the sounds of the bells. On the first post, the pain is nothing more than an annoying headache; the second post is on par with a serious migraine; the third post is incredibly, throbbingly painful; and the fourth is nigh-unbearable. On the fifth post and up the target is usually unconscious. To stop this genjutsu the target must either disrupt the user's concentration or destroy the bells - their choice.

• Continuous Gust
- Wind
- The target must be able to see the user.
This genjutsu makes the target feel as if the wind is blowing at them with incredible strength, continuously pushing them back. It will make them believe that they can easily be knocked over if they jump and all their projectiles will merely fail in the wind.

• Fathoms Below
- Water
- The user must be in water and enter the area of affect.
After submerging the target completely in water (actual water, not some illusion), this genjutsu can be activated to make it feel as the water is pressing in on them from all sides, kind of as if they were miles underneath the water. At this amount of pressure, bones will seem to break and even those who can breathe underwater will be unable to breathe because of the amount of pressure that seem to be pushing down on their lungs.

• Melt
- Water
- The user must make eye contact with the target.
After soaking the target, this skill can be used to make it seem as if the target's skin has started melting and is being washed off of the body with the water. In addition, the target's movement will become sluggish, as if they were underwater. They will begin to feel the stinging upon their body where their skin has washed away.

• Descending Heaven
- Lightning
- The target must see the seals of the user.
Upon triggering the user will disappear from sight. After a post of noticing this sudden disappearance the target may notice a breach in the clouds with sunlight/moonlight breaking the clouds. Then all of a sudden a huge hand comprised of clouds descends from the sky slamming down onto the ground, causing a massive sound of thunder to the user. The hand will then attempt to grab the target and squeeze him, if the target is unable to dispel this genjutsu he could possibly lose consciousness.

• World of the Dead Fissure
- Earth
- The target must enter the area of affect.
The user makes the opponent see a fissure appearing in front of him. Then, voices begin to come out of the fissure, voices of people that the opponent knows and can recognize. The voices lament their "deaths" and call out to the opponent to join them in hell. This is a genjutsu which can scare the opponent immensely, as well as distract him and psychologically hurt him. The longer this genjutsu goes on the more powerful the voices become, until they are shrieking banshees. Ethereal hands will reach up and attempt to grab the target and pull them down.

• Illusion of Gravity
- Earth
- The target must see the hand seals.
A genjutsu which affects the brain in such a way, the user's opponent feels as if they are walking in an environment of higher G, meaning in a place which has stronger gravity than normal. Consequently, muscles are strained since the body thinks they should work harder to compensate on the higher G-force, causing fatigue.

• Sand Maze
- Sand
- The target must be within the pulse range of 20m
After forming a series of seals, the user sends out a pulse of chakra, somewhat similarly to Yamanaka jutsus for switching minds with their target. As such it is possible to dodge the chakra, but as it is fast moving and invisible, one must be prepared for it in order to dodge. Once the blast strikes, the target will immediately see great walls of sand rise up around them, forming into a great maze. Though the walls of the maze are not vastly high, whenever the user attempts to leap above them, the walls will grow, and the maze is without any exit, as it will constantly change in order to keep the target inside. The user unlike the target of the technique will be able to move through the maze however they wish, and as such they may repeatedly ambush the target while still being able to retreat behind the illusionary walls to avoid retaliation.

• Beat Motion
- Sound
- The target must be able to hear the user.
By subtly altering the way the target's brain interprets sound a ninja who uses this technique can cause their opponents to twitch or convulse at every sound they hear. Most sound at normal volume levels - footsteps, someone coughing - will cause slight and nearly unnoticeable twitches in the target. Louder sounds like clashing steel or someone shouting will cause a momentary spasm in usually the arm or leg muscles. Extremely loud sounds like an explosion or someone raking their nails down a chalkboard will cause the target to collapse and shudder momentarily. Anything in the upper echelons of human hearing - say 150 decibels - would cause violent and nearly bone breaking convulsions and if anything this loud was maintained for more than two posts the target would surely break their own back.

• Amplify
- Sound
- The target must be able to hear the user.
This rather insidious Genjutsu greatly distorts the hearing of the target, causing them to hear all noises to be roughly 150 decibels. When under the effects of this technique, even the most simple of sounds, such as the scrapping of your finger against a kunai, can become unbearably painful. The effects of this technique last for three posts, and the victim is then left disoriented and hard of hearing for an additional three posts.

• Raging Fire
- Fire
- The target must see the hand signs.
This genjutsu will make it appear as if the user has created a ring of fire around the area. The fire will seem incredibly real, the target able to feel the heat, smell things burning, as well as hear it. Over five posts the fire will get closer and closer, and no matter what the target does they cannot dowse the flames. On the fifth post the raging flames will envelope the target and 'burn' them to a crisp. Most people pass out from the excruciating pain they would feel.

• Hypothermia
- Water
- The target must see the hand signs.
Over five posts the target begins to grow colder and colder after having been hit with water (real or illusory). Each post they will continue to freeze and feel as if their bodily functions are ceasing due to the incredibly cold temperature. On the fifth post they will pass out from their body refusing to take air in.

• Call of the Lady of Thunder
- Lightning
- Target must see the hand seals.
This genjutsu makes it seem as if the user has summoned forth a very large, very angry, and very deadly ethereal lightning woman. This lady appears behind them and towers over all of the structures. The lady will try to strike out and hit the opponent with her hands. If the opponent is unfortunate enough to not get away from it they will experience a shock so debilitating it will make them want to pass out. This genjutsu seems incredibly real due to the change in the weather, the sound, the smell, and the feeling of the shocks.

• Tear the world asunder
- Earth
- The target must see the hand seals as well as the motions that the jutsu describes.
The user must force create handseals and then perform an action that looks as if they have stuck their hands in the ground and begin to pull it apart. From that small crack they make the target will then begin to see the very earth all around them begin to crack and fall away into lava below. No matter where the target tries to escape to the earth under them will break away and fall down. If they manage to actually 'fall' into the lava they will pass out from the overwhelming fear of being melted alive.

• Tribute of the Sand
- Sand
- The target must see the motions described in the techniques.
It simply starts with the user stretching their hand outwards towards the intended target, and slowing closing as if grasping some invisible object. The target at that point will feel a tightening in their body, as if one of their organs were being grabbed (note: the particular organ is not specific, but it is typically the heart). If the target looks down at their body at that point, they typically will see several claws of sand embedded in their body near the affected area. With one swift motion the user will then pull, and the target will see and feel clearly one of their organs being torn free from their body, leaving a gaping hole in its place. Naturally this is incredibly painful, but that is the nicest part of the jutsu for the target. Their body will quickly feel the effects resulting from the loss of that particular organ, and in the case of the heart, this will quickly lead to an incredible feeling of weakness such that any movement at all can quickly become impossible, as well as numerous other very harmful effects.

• Explosive Anger of the World
- Fire
- The target must see the hand seals and then the motions described in the jutsu.
The user must create the hand seals and then act as if they are raising a giant mountain behind them. On the next post the mountain will reveal itself as a volcano and explode, sending ashes, plumes of smoke, and fiery boulders all over the battlefield. As the battle rages on the volcano becomes more and more active, and seems to be solely aiming for the target of the genjutsu. This genjutsu is incredibly real, and can make the enemy believe they are being burned, crushed, or melting in lava.

• Acid Rain
- Water
- The target must be able to see the handseals.
Storm clouds seem to form and rain down upon those in the battle but, instead of feeling like regular rain, the target feels like the rain is actually acid, and over time the target's clothes and skin melt away due to the acid.

• Calling of the Clouds
- Wind
- The target must be able to see the hand seals.
This genjutsu makes the target believe the wind is lifting them into the air. It will keep pushing them skyward until the are past the clouds and begin to drift off much higher into the atmosphere. Their breath will begin to shorten, their body will begin to freeze until all bodily functions cease, and the target falls to the ground, very near death.
