"Ow!" He held his head in his paws until the pain subsided. Then, he looked up through the sewer's entrance. Light shone through the opening and illuminated the area. He could see it was uncovered. "Who left the manhole cover off? An employee, perhaps?"
He knew answering questions wouldn't get him anywhere. Not fast, anyway. So, he decided to look around for a way to get out of here. "There should be a ladder somewhere..." His voice trailed off when he saw a ladder on the ground next to him. It was rusted and looked like it had been torn off of something bigger. He looked up at the entrance again and saw that the rest of the ladder was there -- the top part. Unfortunately for him, he was neither so good at jumping that he'd be able to reach the ladder nor did he have anything to stack up, so he could climb up to it.
He sighed, dejected. Now, he'd have to walk all the way to the next exit with a ladder and hope it was in better shape than this one. With that decided, he began walking forward.
