Alia's letter to the Warden had been official, respectful, and polite (none of which did she feel particularly inclined to act, and yet here she was), but it had also been lying. In it, she requested a brief interview with the Warden, "at his convenience", to discuss the unfortunate matter of the attempt on his life at the recent hatching. That much was true, they should probably get a statement from him at least, but that wasn't the only thing she wanted to talk to him about. She was using the murder attempt on the Sands as a way to try to waters, and see if she could work in a way to ask her other questions without seeming like she was accusing him of anything.

Making sure the be there a little early, Alia made her way to the place ((hooray for intentional vagueness)) he'd given in his reply. Melangth had dropped her off, then settled somewhere nearby to 'watch'.
<We must have all our wits, Alia Mine.> he said, as she prepared to enter the lion's den. <He is not the other riders, with whom emotions were excused and personal curiosities could be forgiven.>
<I know.> she said, clearing her mind with a deep breath.
<And remember too that we are here to gather information only. Not to take sides. I caution you not to assume this man is guilty because of things we may have heard.>
<Well, what shall I assume, then?> she asked bitterly. One rider missing, another dead, along with a hatchling..
<Assume nothing. That is always best. Assume nothing, and listen impartially.>

((There. I'll leave the time and place up to you, since I honestly have no idea what M'onk would prefer. Hope it's okay.))

M'onk penciled her appointment in his little desk scroll for the day. His time came at the price of being near to his office during the proper hours where he could stand with his cane and smile, pretending not to think about his overly comfortable chair. When his assistant bustled in, saying the bluerider was there and just on time, he stood and slowly made his way out of his office.

He stood small and stooped, wrinkled and skinny fingers wrapped around the top of his cane. A smile spread on his face when he saw her. Warden M'onk walked quietly over to her, his free hand extending out to Alia.

"My, you're so young to be on one of these trips." M'onk chuckled, dark eyes on her face. "Alia, your letter said? I am Warden M'onk. It's quite nice to meet you, my dear."

As the Warden emerged from his office, Alia cautioned herself not to believe her first impression that he seemed like a perfectly normal and reasonable old man (certainly not the crazed meglomaniac you'd expect from people's stories). Still, the feeling could only help her guise, that she was here investigating the matter of the man who tried to take M'onk's life. That she was on his side. She tried to fill herself with the appropriate emotions. Awe, sympathy, respect.. Respect. Smiling, she stepped forward to take his hand.

Alia didn't mind so much the comment about her age (at least it wasn't a comment on her gender). She got it all the time; people said she looked like a rookie or a weyrling, but she'd been a dragonrider for as long as half the people in her wing. And that was, in fact, a small point of pride for her. "Well," she said, with the same fond smile as every rider when they recalled their Impression. "I got an early start."

"And the pleasure's all mine, Warden." she said, shaking his hand firmly. "Thank you for taking the time out of your busy scedule to meet with me."

"Now, I don't want to take up any more of your time than I have to, so I'll get right to it. Would you describe the events of the hatching for me?" There. She would leave the question open and let him tell her as much as he was willing to. She could always ask for specifics later, if she needed.
