Hi, I'm a freshmen. I really want to be drum major my junior year. So I thought I was start now, so that I would be ready. I know it will be hard and I will have to dedicate most of my free time to the band. I already do. Band is all I think about. I'm ready for the challenge. All advice can help. Thank you so much.

Howdy. c: What I've seen my friends go through is this: The obvious ones are to -Be outgoing! Everyone looks up to DMs (they have to!) -Be responsible. BDs will look for that trait. By the time you're a junior, they will have a good picture of you painted in their mind. -I would go to leadership workshops, I know it looks good when applying for section leader. -Take up a lot of roles in band prior. -Practice directing. I know at my school, you must know 4/4, 3/4, and 2/4 for starters.
That's all I can think of. Best of luck to you!
