It was a stormy night when I was born. Thunder rolled in the distance, many viewed this as a bad omen at my birth.
It was a rainy day again. Not uncommon since it was the rainy season, regardless it left me with an uneasy feeling. If it was like last year much of my garden was going to be drowned and killed. Killed...some might say that was a weird way to describe it, regardless I would mourn them in the morning like I always did when it rained so heavily. As I lay my head down I knew it was pointless. Sleep would not come to me on these nights, all I could think of was how to save the plants. Alas I could never save them all, they needed sunlight to grow so I could not shelter them. So as usual a lay there waiting for the storm to end staring at my garden of eden, helpless again.
About an hour after the sun came up the rain came to a halt and the clouds continued on their way. Adelonda wearily got up from her bed, it was a massive tree she had taken care of when it was just a sprout and in return as it grew it made a space or her in it's trunk. All the plants in her garden welcomed her in their silent language and she could hear them calling to her. Shaking of the remaining rain that had managed to get on her head from the rain she began moving forward to see the damage and see if there was any plants she could save.

Quickly she realized that none of her plant had died through the night! Shocked Adelonda had no idea what to make of this! It simply was impossible. She knew she was a young dragon yet, barely 50 years! Although long in human terms for a dragon this was not that long. She had no idea how to understand what had happened, Gently feeling around the garden with her paws she could feel they were soaked with the rain from the night before "I just do not understand" Adelonda says in a panicked whisper. She needed to understand and she knew if she could not it may drive her to madness! There clearly did exist a way to save them.

"You know I was hoping you would look a little more happy....and not quite as distraught" a voice from above calls out. Adelonda looks up sharply, only now sensing the creature above her. She was pretty, but small. her hair was a dark blue? Teal? She wasn't entirely sure, her skin was an off yellow and she had a huge fluffy tail to match. Her height was around 5'6"? She of coarse was guessing. "What are you doing in my Territory" She asks instinctively."What do you mean?" She said tilting her head to the side "YOU called me here last night. I could hear your pain calling out to me to save them, I usually I ignore the calls of dragons that do not worship at my temple! You should feel honored." she said with a smile that was pure politeness.
Adelonda sat down to think about what she had been told, if she was telling the truth then this creature had saved her plants for her and she should be thankful. Also she said her temple so she was guessing this was one of the guardian she had been told about as a child. She had never bothered to join a temple because she didn't like to be around other dragons. The ones who had been born around her time had constantly bullied her calling her cursed. When really her only curse was them. That would also mean that she never sensed her because she was telling the truth, guardians were able to move around quite well unnoticed. "Thank you" she said without hesitation. "Would you be able to tell me how you did it?" Adelonda asks hoping to finally be able to end the seasonal destruction of her garden.
Staring at Adelonda for a few minutes, the guardian closes her eyes and a wind passes ruffling her hair. Finally what felt like an eternity to Adelonda, she opened her eyes. "Although I cannot give you the power to save them it can be done. But you are hurting yourself through your seclusion more than you know, you allow the folly of dragons in the past scare you from your own kind. So I will make a deal with you. Go to my temple once a week and bring me an offering and while you are there you must speak to at least one dragon. In return your garden will remain protected." She says frankly, looking at her with her orange eyes.

Adelonda began to open her mouth but the Guardian interrupted her "Take a moment to think about it. Although I know this is something you dearly want, I do not want you to rush to a decision. Remember, you gain what you want but you also will have to face what you hate."
"I will take leave now, she says standing on the branch. Call to me when you have decided." She hopped down and began walking out of the garden "WAIT!" Adelonda calls out to her "You haven't given me your name!!!!" Looking back the Guardian blushes and laughs "You know in all of this talking I suppose I never did give you my name. My name is Karamelo and I am a guardian of life." Karamelo once again smiles politely at Adelonda, turns around, then continues on her way.
Before she is gone from sight Adelonda says to her "My name is Adelonda and it was a pleasure to meet you." not bothering to speak any louder to make up the distance between them. She knew she could here her.

She called Karamelo the next day, and when she arrived Adelonda could tell she was not the least bit surprised. "So soon?" she says raising her eyebrow, clearly feigning surprise. "Yes, I knew from the moment you offered and no passage of time has changed my mind" Adelonda says calmly. This time she was by her favorite part of the garden, she was surrounded by many Lilly's. She knew they would calm her so she would not back out of the offer. Even if it meant having to face other dragons again.
"I will accept your offer and visit your temple and speak with other dragons" she says hoping the conditions have not changed. "I suppose it has been something that has plagued you all these years. I accept then, I expect to see you at my temple on the first day of spring" Karamelo was smiling broadly now "You will benefit from this trust me and so will the dragons you will meet" with this said Karamelo turns to her tail and pets it? This was weird Adelonda thought staring at the weird guardian. When suddenly its mouth, yes mouth, Opened. Huge fangs quickly became visible and a orange tongue came out of it!!!
Startled Adelonda would have pushed back away from the weird tail but resisted the instinct. She was laying with her favorite flowers and doing so she would surly tear them up with her claws. "No need to be alarmed my tail wont hurt you or your flowers. Although it does have a mind of its own, Ultimately, my will controls hers." she then began rubbing under its mouth to coax her "Alright hand it over!" a few giggly grumbles roll out of her mouth and a seed rolls along her tongue into Karamelo's hand.

The seed was no bigger than ladybug and was pure black, there were no grooves in it, it was perfectly round. Karamelo using her short soft fur dries the seed off smiling while doing so, the smile was serine and unto herself. Quietly wonders to herself Adelonda contemplates how such a peaceful creature could exist. She hadn't known her long that was for sure it hadn't even been an hours worth combined. She could feel it though that this guardian must always bee like this the feeling of a warm summer day in her garden with a gentle breeze in the air and with this weird knowledge she knew change was going to follow and she couldn't help but feel that it was going to be better for her.
Holding her hand our Karamelo offers the seed to Adelonda. As the guardian places the seed in her paw karamelo does not withdraw her hand immediately but instead closes her hand over the seed while in Adelonda's and closes her orange eyes. Once again a feeling of calmness passes around Adelonda and she too closes her eye for once enjoying the company.
Then she hears it. It's soft and small yet but it is there.
The new edition to her family in the palm of her hand lies a small Golden Lilly With a yellow light glow eminating from it. Kara opens her eyes also and says to Adelonda. "This flower is all of your hopes in me and in yourself. Should you give up and die, so too will this flower. But as your life grows through your happiness and fulfillment more will surly follow."

As months passed many things changed for Adelonda. She discovered she no longer hated her kind as she had once thought and now felt silly for harboring such feelings for such a long time. With more time she even found herself strong willed enough to have her own harem, even if she did not rule with dominance as some did, it was clear she held the respect and loyalty of her harem. although small she knew with time it would grow. Quick to be by her side and precious to her were Lilla, Mavi and Moriko. She knew they would never know how much they had saved her from herself. She still had to get past her self before she could imagine how to explain to them her past. As for the guardian she visited her garden quite often to check on her and the flower she had left. It had since grown 3 times the size of a common Lilly and a few were beginning to sprout around it though they clearly would not grow to it's size. Adelonda also found out her first impression was a little off, although peaceful Karamelo was quite curious and it led to her falling off places creature her size might have died from. Her tail seemed to even have its own consciousness and liked biting things more often than Adelonda was comfortable with even if Kara (she didn't know when but she had started calling her that) assured her it was to "feel" since it could not see. Laying in her garden with her head resting on a large mossy rock listening to the others activity in the distance, Adelonda knew she need not ask for more.
