It was a fine day outside. The sun was shining and, for a little while, Lasoth and Leevi could forget all about the Hatching. Well, except for the obvious facts like Leevi had freaking Impressed Lasoth. That wasn't going to be forgotten any time soon.
If you ever do forget, I'll be sure to remind you, Lasoth chuckled as she stretched out in the sunshine. Her wings were spread wide like she was experimenting with photosynthesis and trying to lap up all the sunlight. Freshly-oiled and recently fed, all the baby dragon wanted to do was nap in the sunshine. She scrabbled on the sparse grass of what Leevi chose to think as the 'Weyrbowl' but was, in fact, just outside of the prison proper.
It was comfortable anyway. Just the sort of place to just take a moment and have a bite to eat. That is, Leevi would have a bite to eat. He managed to liberate a few meatrolls from the kitchens with the help of a friendly wherhandler. That, plus a skin of tea was pretty much as close to perfection as Leevi could get. Well, that and he had his research to look over again. Impressing Lasoth hadn't changed his plans at all. It merely made them better.
The opal crooned at the thoughts going through Leevi's mind. See? She was helping him!

A part of the job came in the form of interviewing people such as the newly Impressed babies, not just frolicking around laughing about how he was so glad he didn't have to guard this rat hole of a place. It'd have been rude, first of all, and second, the prison would be an insult to rats. Kr'stof saw plenty of ratholes in his day and most of them were tidy things with soft bundles of cuddliness for baby rats to cuddle up in. That aside, Warden's at least had places beyond the actual walls! It all looked rather gray and disgusting to him but a job was a job, grass was grass, and escape looked like a sunning baby dragon with a sparkle to her hide.
... huh. Well.
Kr'stof paused in his sauntering with his satchel over one shoulder, his lunch heavy in the pack. Xenath walked behind him, a long lithe strip of green casting a spray of shade along him. She skidded to a halt along with him, large head cocked to study the small thing at a distance.
"Princess?"
Of course. Xenath snorted and reached out to the sunbathing plant-dragon. Good afternoon little sister. My rider would like to discuss you and Yours, if you'd allow him to. He's brought food.
Kr'stof continued to saunter. If they said no, he would veer away. If they said yes, he looked fantastic and had food to spare.
... I swear he is as ridiculous as he seems but he's not cruel.

Leevi's first warning was when Lasoth suddenly lifted her head, warily regarding the approachers. Discuss them? What was there to discuss? Leevi was hers and she was his. Mine? They want to ask us about... err... us, she informed Hers.
Then I'd say we're the best people to ask, Leevi replied. He was starting to get the hang of telepathy, although he still preferred verbal communication. As a mindhealer, he told patients, 'people are not mind readers, you need to communicate your desires more effectively', it had become a habit to say things out loud. So... interviews again. Lasoth chittered a bit, wings rustling open and close a few times.
What do you think? Leevi closed his profiles, a sign that he'd already come to his own decision. Lasoth picked up on it. Of course, since she was in his mind, she sort of did anyway.
I think we should, she said. She says that Hers is as ridiculous as he seems.
Don't you mean 'not as ridiculous as he seems'?
Nope. So I think we should talk to them. That sounded like fun! Well, more fun than talking to some of the other far-more-grim-faced Watchriders. Reaching out to Xenath, Lasoth politely replied. Yes, we'll talk to you. I'm Lasoth and this is Leevi. He's a mindhealer. I found him in the Stands.
What. It was important for people to know that. She sat up on her wide bottom and shook herself out a bit to get rid of some of the dust.
Leevi waved awkwardly at the approaching Greenrider and his Green. “Good afternoon,” he said, sounding friendly as always.

See, Kr'stof? They don't hate you off the bat, things are an improvement.. Xenath snorted and nudged him with her muzzle as if the human needed encouragement. Kr'stof laughed and picked up his pace, sauntering to the man and his photosynthesizing dragon without a care in the world.
Xenath turned her thoughts to Lasoth while Hers made himself look silly. It's an awesome place to find someone. I found mine pouting. We are Kr'stof and xenath, watchriders. Has someone else already talked to you?
"Hello!" Kr'stof wriggled his fingers back and flopped onto the ground a bit from Leevi and Lasoth. "I'd apologize for interrupting but I've food to share and am dreadfully curious as to a few things. Before all of that - hungry?"
He flipped open his side bag and sifted through the food items within. "Oh, I'm Kr'stof, in case my dragon didn't inform you. She never tells me if she does and I don't pry."
He is Leevi, she is Lasoth.
Hush now, I've given an opening to not look so odd.
Xenath laughed

W... I spoke to Zamenateth, Lasoth admitted, eyes already starting to whirl at the memory of the intimidating Gold who only wanted to ask after awful things and became very disappointed when Lasoth wasn't a bloodthirsty metallic like herself. Xenath was much less intimidating than Zam (which really went to prove that Lasoth didn't know the warrior-green very well at all). Cautiously, but curiously, the little hatchling went to explore the much larger green.
This involved touching noses. It was absolutely essential to everything.
“Food is absolutely accepted in place of apologies,” Leevi agreed. “Oh, sorry. Uh. Yeah, I'm Leevi and this is Lasoth...” yeah, being a weyrling was a lot like being new to the place all over again. Lots of introductions all over the place, just to ensure that everyone knew everyone else.
Good thing for Leevi that he had a memory for names, otherwise half of his patients would have been 'What's His Face'.
The other half would have been 'What's Her Face'.
“What did you want to ask about?”

Ugh. Her. Xenath leaned out to meet Lasoth's nose with her own. She sniffed curiously; the little one smelled like any other dragon, clearly female, metallic, but not like a gold. Interesting. Very, very interesting.
So, she licked her face. Take that, adorable little hatchling. Warrior princess has dubbed you fabulously cute. Despite all her glaring faults, Xenath had enough hearts to not go around terrifying infants. Not unless they deserved it, of course.
Don't mind her. She makes me in a bad mood look kind and I am terrifying when in a bad mood. At least her rider has some sense. Does yours?
"Fabulous!" And the food started to come out, Kr'stof flipping open his bag to start pulling it out. "Eat what you'd like, I think the kitchen staff is afraid we're about to go haywire and chew off faces if we get hungry. It's good, though, I hate to admit that I'm surprised with this. To be honest, I'm hoping to bribe you with deliciousness into discussing frankly about the ongoings here at the prison and your place in it.
"So. Metallic little girl, huh?"
