Derek Ballard  Derek did a few things around the barn before heading back outside and dealing with his crops, pulling weeds, picking what was ready and watering everything. He knew that now he'd have a lot more to do since he had the chicks to tend to, as well as Mimi and her three little kittens. He loved animals as much as the next person, though he thought that they took so much more attention than plants did, though you don't get the same kind of satisfaction caring for plants that you do with animals because plants don't love you back like animals do. "I am going to have to crunch numbers and my time schedule will have to be changed, though I can start doing those requests for eggs once the chicks are grown." he said to himself as he walked back into the house after a long day of working on the farm.{{ooc:}}

Katharine
Katharine woke up earlier than usual. She watered her plants before getting on to Jet. She knew her animals would still be sleeping before she came back. She rode her horse up and over the mountain to Derek's house. The young farmer wanted to bring him over to her farm to see the new calf. Katharine got to his house and knocked on his door. Then waited.

Derek Ballard The next morning Derek got up at the crack of dawn, watered his crops, after checking on Mimi and her three gorgeous little kittens. After that he went straight out to the barn and fed the peeps right away because he did not want them getting sick or starving because of neglect. He could only imagine what Katharine would say if the peeps that she had given him charge of would get sick or worse in his care. He shuddered at the thought and he played with the chicks for a bit, though not too much because he knew that they were delicate and shouldn't be handled a lot or they might get hurt. As he placed his chicks down he thought that he heard someone knocking at his door. Walking out of the barn he headed over to his house and saw Katharine standing there. "Morning Katharine." he said as he looked back at the barn to be sure that the dorr wasn't open. It wasn't so he returned his attention to her and asked what was up with her and asked if the new calf that she was expecting was happy and healthy.{{ooc:}}

Katharine smiled to him before saying, "Well I thought you would want to know that my calf is born. I wanted to know if you would like to see it? You have time to come over to my farm?" She asked. Katharine was hoping he would want to come over.

Derek Ballard Derek listened to Katharine telling him that the calf was born and that it was healthy and he smiled. "I'm glad to hear that and I'd be more than happy to come see the calf. I was just feeding the chicks, so that I didn't forget to feed them right in the morning again... They seemed over-joyed that I was playing with them too." he said in reply to her as he walked into the house and motioned for her to follow him. Although, he said to be quiet because he wanted to show her the kittens, though he told her that she absolutely could not touch them because Mimi might reject them if they were touched by people. He wasn't sure that Mimi really would, though he had to be safe. He then told Katharine after they looked at the kittnes that he'd be more than glad to go see the calf. He wondered which of the kittens Katharine would pick. He knew that he couldn't keep them all and he figured that Katharine would care greatly for the kitten she took. All that he wondered was if she'd like the little calico female, the gray tabby tom or his orange tabby brother. He knew they were still going to need their mother for about a week, though he didn't think it would hurt if he showed the kittens to Katharine right now.{{ooc:}}

Katharine nodded as he told her about playing with the chick, "Yes that is important to do with bady animals so that they love you as they grow up." She said. The farmer girl followed him to see the kittens. She was so eager to see the three.

Derek Ballard Derek led Katharine to his room, though he stopped her at the door until he went in to check on Mimi and the kittens. Once he felt that Mimi was all right with having a visitor he motioned for Katharine, yet he told her that she couldn't go passed the door of the closet. The kittens were tucked tightly against their mother, so it looked like there were three tiny balls of fur laying by her. There was a little orange ball of fur, a dark gray ball of fur tucked against Mimi and there was a small bundle that was mostly white, though it had tiny patches of brown and black on it. As he looked at the kittens he complimented Mimi because she seemed to love the positive attention about her kittens.{{ooc:}}

Katharine walked in and kneeled down carefully to see them. She smiled seeing the small puff balls. The farmer awwed at the picture they made. "Hey Mimi, your babies are just cute." She said smiling.

Derek Ballard Derek smiled as he watched Katharine looking at the kittens. He watched as Mimi got up and rubbed her silver head against Katharine's hand and he heard the tiny mewls of the kittens as they protested to their meal being taken from them. "Poor things want fed, but Mimi wants attention." he said with a soft chuckle, before saying that they should leave Mimi and the kittens so they can eat. He then made mention about being eager to see the new calf that was born on Katharine's farm.{{ooc:}}

Katharine nodded before saying, "Ok." She petted Mimi one last time before walking out of the room. She turned to Derek before saying, "Well if you want to see the calf, you know you will have to ride on Jet with me to get to my farm." She teased.

Derek Ballard Hearing what was said by Katharine Derek nodded. He knew that he was still fidgity around horses, though Jet seemed to be a nice horse and had done nothing wrong to him, so he had no reason to dislike him. "I know that, though I can handle riding Jet. I am still a bit unsure about horses, due to what happened, but Jet seems to be a very good horse and I don't mind riding him at all." he said as she led Katharine from his room and out to the front porch, where he looked over to the barn that housed ihs new chickens.{{ooc: Edit - I just wanted to let you know that I may be taking a break from gaia for a while so that I can get some other things done. I have been putting said things off for way too long and I really have to get those done... I am sorry if I'm not on for about a week or more, though I may come back before then. I don't really know how long I'll be away for... I hope that this is not too much of an inconvenience...}}
