Hello everyone!!
I am possibly adopting a corn snake from my work. I work at Petco, and we are really big on adoption, even small animals. Many of our customers bring us their small animals that they cannot care for and we then take them, keep them separate for 1-2 weeks to make sure they are healthy before putting them up for adoption. All proceeds go towards the fund to be able to care for these. Petco doesn't see a dime. ((Sorry, I don't want to sound like I'm all about them cause I'm not, I just don't wanna be harassed for some reason lol))
Anyways, on Sunday a customer brought in a pet corn snake that he didn't want anymore. Apparently it kept getting out (he doesn't do his research obviously lol) and he found out it lived longer than he wanted (thought it would only live like 2 years...hahaha).
So we ended up with it. The snake is doing well, but it won't be ready for adoption for at least another week. They may let it go home with me after a week, and already have a small animal vet to go to in case anything goes wrong.
Does anyone have any advice? I'm going to be getting the basic snake kit from my store, and then add from there. The kit includes a 20 gallon tank (for reptiles, not fish), hides, a heating pad, possibly a heating light and some other things.
Sorry this is so long. I used to help my dad care for snakes when I was really little. However, he is no longer in the picture and now I have no one to go to for snake advice. I want to give this little guy or girl the best life I possibly can.
P.S. If someone could tell me how to tell the difference between a boy and girl snake it would be greatly appreciated
