The clearing stood as empty as it had the night before. Relic scented the air before pushing forward out of the bushes that had concealed his form. Here and there were faint traces of the individual that he sought out. The trace scent was enough to confirm that one of his daughters had passed by recently. This was a good sign. The message that had made it's way to him seemed to prove accurate. Sangria was somewhere in the nearby vicinity. It would be pleasing to set his gaze upon his daughter again.

However there was also an unfamiliar scent that overlaid his daughter's particular scent. This new scent held an intriguing bouquet of information. Relic was absolutely sure that the new scent belonged to a young male. There was something else about it that caused Relic to pause deep in thought. He continued to follow the signs of Sangria's passage. Soon he'd catch up to her and this mysterious traveler.

Zacharael snorted softly at the scuffed ground. His mother had just covered up a kill that she had made. His motions didn't go unnoticed. A sound of one clearing their throat had Zach looking at the mare that he called mother. Sangria's muzzle was stained with the blood of her victim and Zacharael paused in thought. What was it that drew their family to end the lives of others?

Zacharael shrugged off the thought. He wanted to experience freedom and soon. It was getting too crowded in the mysterious cave that Sangria returned to now and then. Zach pushed ahead through some foliage before catching a strange scent on the breeze that came from behind him. He turned in time to catch that his mother now scented the air as well. She gave him a strange look before muttering for him to stay put. Zacharael watched silently as his mother moved into the bushes. Strange.

What was this? Sangria lifted her head into the wind that blew from behind and inhaled deeply. Her gaze sharpened as the scent she now smelled became clear. How could it be possible that he'd find her here? Sangria heard the noise that Zacharael made as he nosed at the site that she'd covered up moments ago. Anger flared in her mind that he'd resort to scavenging a meal from her kill before she shrugged the matter off. There was something more important at stake now.

Knowing that there was no time at all in which to improve her appearance Sangria merely stood still. She knew that the one tracking her was closing in. No time like the present to greet one of her own blood. The secret that she'd left back behind her though struggled to choke off her words. They came out anyway as a figure strode into view. "Hello father."

Relic heard his daughter at the same time that he caught sight of her. The stallion paused to critically examine Sangria's appearance. The first thing he noted was the obvious signs of a recent kill. His daughter's muzzle was dyed red from whatever had fallen victim to her lethal combination of needles and weapon. Besides the most glaring aspect of his daughter's appearance Relic had to admit that she looked extremely well. There was an expression of contriteness that had him instantly on alert. Sangria would never fool him with the innocent routine.

Relic could still identify traces of the younger male. He raised an eyebrow towards Sangria before moving forward. He now stood beside his own flesh and blood. Relic gazed around the area and shook his head. "It is good to see you again Sangria, but what are you trying to hide? Or should I be asking, whom are you trying to hide?"

He could barely hear the conversation. Zacharael shot a quick glance to the foliage that concealed his presence from whomever his mother was addressing. He spread his wings and fanned the air before snaking his tail around his knife. Swinging his tail around Zacharael buried the hilt of his weapon into the ground that covered what had once been a living creature. His mother's work undoubtedly but hunger licked at his belly and Zacharael felt that since his mother was occupied that she wouldn't mind.

Slowly he used the prehensile nature of his tail to direct the knife through cooling flesh. The resistance factor barely fazed him. It was like dragging a hot needle through butter. There was no resistance at all. The kalona-esque stallion stared at his work before sampling a piece of flesh. He chewed thoughtfully before assigning a mental grade. It was fairly pleasant but carried a lingering aftertaste. Zacharael scowled before spitting the meat out. It wouldn't do. He'd need to find something else to sate the hunger within.

Sangria's expression of polite innocence faded at Relic's accusatory tone. The manner in which he phrased his question grated her nerves. Sangria stared down her father's supposedly knowing gaze before she lowered her eyes to stare at the ground. It wasn't fair that to be reduced to the feeling of being a filly in trouble. She was older than that now. Sangria's head rose slowly as she began to stare defiantly at Relic. Her mouth twitched with amusement at the thought of literally shocking her father once more with her newest secret.

How well would he take it? Her thoughts took on a more sadistic nature as she imagined informing her father of just how this secret had come around to be. Just how would he react to the knowledge that she'd been affected by something from his past? Sangria gave a small, but evil chuckle, as she closed the distance between them. "You are absolutely right. I was trying to hide someone. I guess perhaps now is the time to introduce you to your grandson." Sangria's voice, which had been growing quieter, suddenly rose as she pitched it to flow towards the one she beckoned, "Zacharael!"

The fact that he had been right had Relic giving himself a mental pat on the back. He'd still not lost his touch when it came to his family. Sangria's strange absence of late had concerned him enough to seek out his daughter. He'd picked up traces here and there but this night had led him to discover his daughter's whereabouts to a precise location. He paused to listen to the words that Sangria spoke to him and he narrowed his eyes once again. So she had been hiding someone from him.

It was at that moment that he took in ALL of his daughter's words. Relic stood motionless as the knowledge that his little girl had children of her own struck him dumb. For a few minutes all he could do was stare silently. Words had failed him now. The smirk that Sangria wore told him that she knew exactly what she'd done. Relic's gaze widened at the sight that emerged from the woods. A rather large black stallion stood behind his daughter. Relic noted the strange wings and tail that the male possessed before gaping. A burst of laughter from Sangria broke his trance and Relic spoke but one word. "How?"
