Last night was the first time I baked pork chops and sweet potatoes. The chops were breaded in a sort of Shake 'n Bake seasoned crumb mix, and the sweet potatoes baked alongside until they oozed sugars. It was an awesome meal.
Still not as fantastic as the fried-steak-and-baked-Russet-potato dinner I've now made a couple of times, but plenty delicious enough.
None of this means I don't still toss a frozen pizza in the oven on some nights.

Was it one of those Fresh Takes seasoning mixes? Because those are great!
I like cooking, but I mostly follow recipes. There's only a few that I feel confident in messing around with. Mostly meatloaf and meatballs, because I have great basic recipes for those that I can just change ingredients around to have fun with.
It's good that you're getting into cooking! Get some cookbooks to explore what you can do.

Those taste amazing enough anyway, so I don't feel like I have to worry about improving them. ^.^ The internet is where I have been learning because I need basic techniques. I was already baking with recipes from this site. It's time to start delving into their savory recipes. I need to know how to make good fried rice. Meatballs would be wonderful. Do you use them in anything other than pasta? My partner isn't thrilled with pasta.

Do you use them in anything other than pasta? My partner isn't thrilled with pasta. I haven't tried many web resources. My family is really into cooking homemade, so we have a huge collection of cookbooks. Fried rice is pretty easy. I make that for my lunch from leftover scraps sometimes. I use meatballs for lots of things. Meatball subs are great. Make the basic meatball and brown them (I bake them in the oven), then put them in a oven dish with spaghetti sauce to simmer in a 325 degree oven for half an hour or so. When you're ready, put the meatballs in hot dog buns along with cheese (provolone, mozzarella, or whatever's on hand) and the warmed up sauce. Other times, I do a similar process with other sauces for different flavored meatballs: barbeque, Asian, or one time an orange sauce. Then serve them by themselves or with plain rice.

MEATBALL SUBS, I should've thought of that. I love meatball subs at Subway. emotion_drool Ok, I have simply got to try that. Thanks much for the suggestion. ^.^

Oh hey! I use Allrecipes a lot, too! I cook from scratch just about every night. Heh, it's mostly Italian and steaks for my husband. XD I absolutely adore Italian food. Sometimes I even make my own pasta. ^_^
Sometimes I use Cooks.com or Foodnetwork.com, as well. I have about five cookbooks right now from various times, but I would still love more. So yeah, and I have a whole arsenal of dessert and baking sites, besides this. ^_^V

I couldn't cook either for years, and am learning now. There is an endless supply of tips and instructions online. Last Thanksgiving I roasted a turkey breast in chicken broth and melted butter after rubbing it with mayonnaise. Never would have thought of that on my own. Thank you, internet! ^.^

Back home steak was always severely overcooked so I thought I hated it. Now I can't get enough of it. Italian food is to live for. ^.^ One of my goals is to successfully make chicken parmigiana. Wow, cooks.com looks extremely helpful. I don't think I've used that site before, thank you for the suggestion. ^.^

And no problem, it's fun to share tips and recipes for cooking. ^_^V I'll dig some more stuff out. I have a lot of foreign cooking sites, too. Y'know... what happened with you and that steak reminds me of what happened to make me shy away from it. My friend's sister made this steak for dinner one night and I couldn't even cut it with my knife and fork. X_X; It was just bad. But when you cook it right and have it nice and tender with a delicious marinade or even plain with a few choice seasonings, it's simplistic tender goodness. ^_^
