Okay, here is the deal. I been looking at some of the roleplays on here and I want to finally contribute to the School. Sadly, I don't want to put all of my energy into starting something that I have little to no experience in doing.

I have done many one on one here, but this is my first time trying something with a group. However I'll go ahead and shoot for a level three roleplay.

Here is a small little blurb on the idea I had in mind. Ideas, questions, and comments are welcomed.

Quote:
"Welcome to the Recently Dead. It's a pleasure to have another member to our ranks." The silver haired woman smiles at you as she approach and beckons you to stand. Of course, what she just said doesn't make sense...or does it? Flashes of memories fill your mind. Fear, dread, sorrow, waves of emotions watch over you as you recall your last moments in life. Cut down in the prime of your life by...a murderer? No...more like a monster...a demon. Then before the darkness took you...you saw him. A black hooded figure, glancing down at a pocket watch before addressing you, "It seems like your watch is a little fast...you nowhere near your time yet. I shall lend you my time." With those words he pulled a large black gear from his cloak and plunged it into your heart. Soon afterword you blacked out, awakening in this room.

The woman who addressed you helps you into a seat at a table. The room was dimly lit with candles and you can tell how many others are seated at the table with you, only knowing you weren't alone. She take a moment before speaking, "Now I know this is a lot to swallow at one time. But you are all dead...or should I say that you died. But thanks to the benevolence of the Time Keeper, you been given some more time. An extra life if you wish." She paused for a moment, letting her message sink in, "What you were killed by isn't of the world that you know of. Monsters, demons, call them what you want, but their official title are 'The Forgotten'. Monsters that exist beyond time only to pop into your world to steal your time to extend their own life. We don't know much about them, but you sitting here right now are prove that they will strike again. You are the lucky few who can fight them...to drive them back...and maybe...just maybe you'll be able to reclaim your lost time. Now, will you help me...help each other fight them?"

Basic, yes. A bit shy of details, yes But it's an idea and I want to work on it. Constant building here is expected until I open it up to the public. Until then, drop a comment or ideas or suggestions. Anything is helpful.

I really like the sound of this, but I'm a little wet behind the ears in general. I'll definitely jump on in if this takes off.

What kind of time period does this take place in? And how would characters fight off the Forgotten?

This would undoubtedly be a modern fantasy setting. So a time period similar to our own.

As to how you fight the forgotten, you fight with the power the the Time Keeper have given you when he gave you the extra time. The power could be anything you can imagine, within reason. However what the powers use for an energy source is unique. It uses the time the Time Keeper gave to use (at least at first. You could also gain time from destroying The Forgotten, the harder they are, the more time you get.) Also the amount you use correlates with how power your attack is. Minutes are the minimum and are good for a quick boost, so nothing lastly more than...a minute top. Hours are more powerful and can last a good couple of minutes, good enough for a couple rounds in a fight. Days are the strongest, can last the entire fight and can easily be a game changer.

((I just thought of the powers so I don't know how balanced it is. But I liked the concept so I'm keeping it. Thoughts are appreciated.))

I was also thinking of a way of incorporating your powers with your activity. The more you post the more time you have allotted to you for your powers..

That sounds good, but I've got one nit to pick with balance that I think'll probably covered easily, unless you haven't already. If days can easily turn the tables, I imagine they won't be used much, or even be accessible most of the time. How much time would you get from taking out an "average Joe" Forgotten?

Maybe the room you wake up in acts as a kind of safe room where time stands still(?), so obviously you can't gain any time. But outside of the room, since time flows normally, you can?

EDIT: I think they'd have to gain time slower than it actually passes though, for balance's sake.

This is one of those points where an idea sounds good in your head, but explodes in your face when on paper.

For anyone who played Persona (particularly Persona 3) what I had in mind is like the Midnight Hour. I imagine that The Forgotten leave in a time outside our. While in the room (where time doesn't move at all) there is also The Forgotten's world, where time does exist, but at a much slower pace.

It could be something like for every hour you spend in the Forgotten World, a minute is spent in the real world (when means you have one less minute to use)
