█║ WHO: Sige & Arden (Aric Val), Garrett & Aravel (Chrystali)
█║ WHAT: Sige decides to go with Garrett on a dangerous job.
        █║ WHEN: Morning.
        █║ WHERE: Sige's home.
█║ WEATHER: Heavy snow, the storm blustering in and out.

The sun was barely rising when Garrett was up, a sure indicator that the man had a job he had to do. There was little else that could remove him from the warmth of Sige's bed.

He'd already put on two layers for his pants - thermals and the outer leather, though he was still debating a third layer - strapping a dagger on the inside of his ankle and another long enough to be a short sword on the opposite side. The soft clink of the metal buckles against the well-worn straps was always ominous; it meant the job the raven-haired man had taken was dangerous, and that even Garrett was acknowledging it with precaution. Granted, he'd been much more careful when accepting jobs that put him in immediate danger at Sige's behest, but some he just couldn't pass up. The thrill of a good hunt, the danger it promised, and the spoils at the end -- saving someone, putting another to rest, or just gathering valuables -- it was a strong lure for the mercenary. He'd argue that the 'saving people' part was more his shindig, but he had been getting restless lately. The wolf attacks, Aravel's unrest whenever they were near the woods, it was adding up and taking a heavy toll on his thoughts.

The job called for him to approach the outskirts of the Wardwood and retrieve a missing hunting party. Bloody stupid nobles thinking now was a good time to execute their little glory raids! Garrett wasn't above letting them die for their stupidity, but the idea that it had been by a wolf sighting, the rumors of howling and whispers of carnage -- he had to go. He had to see for himself, and either put his mind at rest of prepare for the worst. Garrett wasn't overly religious, but he knew enough of the Old Ways to know of the Guardians and their Chosen; the days of Wardens and Wolves. If it was coming - if it was real - he couldn't be caught unawares.

And so, as silent as the sun that was rising, Garrett prepared for his job with war on his mind.

The man wasn't much of a deep sleeper, stirring slightly when the weight on his bed shifted. But usually it was the merchant who usually woke up earlier -- even though these days it was merely to watch Garrett sleep beside him -- it was certainly a different kind of life for him that he had ever known, and a more blissful one.

He could feel the sun wasn't up, which made his senses more awake as he heard the small sounds of dressing, confusing him --- he also wasn't sure why he was keeping his eyes closed. Sure enough his lover was the adventurous type, but dressing up at this early morning and without any warning? It wasn't really like him. And it worried Sige, especially with the unrest around the city and the strange happenings. The man wasn't much for the Old Ways, religion, traditions but slowly he started to believe in things that he didn't expect to, especially with the full grown buck that was inseparable from him.

Finally he turned, ocean-green eyes peeking out from his lids, a worried crease on his forehead. "Garrett."

The raven-haired man paused at the sound of his name, cursing inwardly. He knew he should have dressed elsewhere, but it was hard enough to know he'd be leaving Sige's bed empty that morning. He was merely trying to siphon what time he could, in any manner possible.

But he was caught. Garrett sighed through his teeth and turned to face Sige only half dressed, smiling in his crooked, I'm-in-so-much-trouble manner. "Sige," he replied with a playful lilt of his voice, another tell-tale sign he was trying to make light of a situation. Even so, he approached the man yet in bed and sat on the edge, smoothing his fingers through the brunette's short hair. "Hey, handsome. Go back to sleep, it's not even dawn yet." Leaning over, he pressed a lingering kiss to the merchant's cheek, breathing in the familiar scent of his skin. It was soothing, and sitting upright, some of his nerves felt less harried.

The frown was still there, though soothed slightly with the kiss to his cheek and the dark haired man close to him, the merchant had to fight the urge to pull Garrett back into the sheets and keep him there for the whole day. Yet he definitely sensed that something was on Garrett's mind, and he didn't really like not knowing that.

"You're awake, so I'm awake," he sat up from the bed, sheets falling from his chest. ""Somewhere important to go?" Sige asked carefully, leaning in to Garrett sat and kissing him on his shoulder in good morning.
