Dawn Landers Thorn apple Dawn Landers One thing about this Allah I fell to understand, he seem distant and behave or else. While Jesus Christ and the father they are active daily in my life and provide understanding when I need it in prayer, one question i have i get all my answers from god Your English is a little hard to understand, honey. I don't mean any insult, I'm just not certain what you mean to say. Oh sorry I was typing in the worst rotation. I had seen on tv Muslims leaving the faith then you all kill them as if they are your pigs. Why does this so called LOVE ALLAH require five time prayer every day, and dare say Islam is above all? To me this Allah seem as if he was made to be almost human like with to much power, a fool trying to be mister big shot like your average human. Why does this ALLAH require a name since he is the true god? Why haven't this ALLAH been amongst you in spirit with his own version of the holy spirit? Why haven't Allah sent the holy angels of his domain to his people before the enemy. Why is it a man of the Islam faith called on Allah on his death bed to save him, and instead Jesus Christ of Nazareth spirit showed up in Allah's place? Surely if this Allah is powerful he don't require my Jesus and my father in heaven to do another god's job? If all these other god's had lived like a race and another god did another god's job, the not lazy god would invade a weak kingdom. To me this ALLAH seem like another version of Zeus, Thor, Loki, Hades, and etc. Assalam alaikum, peace be upon you. I've studied the bible quite extensively and just want to ask (as you seem to be a Christian) what attributes of Jesus (peace be upon him) are God-like. I mean what characteristics about his personality. To me it has always appeared as if the characteristics listed in the bible are those of a great man, a perfect man, but I never read anything that painted him beyond that. Perhaps I missed something and you could enlighten me?

LaceNChains Thanks for all the answers everyone! biggrin I've been watching videos on YouTube by someone named Zakir Naik I think. Nouman Ali Khan, Mufti Menk, Ahmed Deedat are all great speakers. Ahmed Deedat is especially good for people who aren't as familiar with Islamic terms. To answer your early question, specifically about covering the hair, I will give just my perspective (as all textual and scholarly facts/opinions can easily be found online. Hijab (veil) is something every girl I have met except one has chosen to put on. Not only that but she actually likes. Loves it even. One who is not accustomed to covering her hair or being in a region where it is heavily practiced may find the concept of the hijab strange, perhaps even oppressive. Some even go as far as to try and "save" those wearing the hijab by creating government bans or ripping them off girls' heads. The reality is we don't want to be saved as the hijab is saving us.
Haven't you ever walked down the street and had some man you didn't know holler at you like you were some kind of purchasable item? If you are a girl in the West and have ever left your house, then I can say with 100% certainty it has happen to you or you have witnessed it. Didn't you feel so disrespected? Degraded? This is why so many girls chose to wear the hijab.
Obviously men should pipe down and show minimal respect by at least keeping their thoughts to themselves, but the reality is they won't, and if you think of all the men who have said something explicit out loud, think of all the men who have thought worse to themselves. Even if a man decides to say something to a girl wearing a hijab, his words carry much less weight: her hijab acts like a literal shield or barrier between her and the lustful eyes of the man. Another reason (going along with this) is so non-Muslims know that we are Muslim. When you see a Muslim woman, a person can't help but giving her a certain level of respect (even if they don't intend too!) They know this women adheres to a certain way of life and won't enjoy an invite to go get a "drink" from you, she'll see right through your intentions as to why you want her number (hint, it's not because you care what she has to say), they know she won't join in on swearing, gossip, lying, and all kinds of negative behavior. Of course even a girl wearing a hijab struggles and none are perfect, but wearing the hijab signals you follow what is perfect and that you are struggling every day to come closer to it.
I myself wear the veil (and the added face veil-niqab) all by my own choice. I love it and wouldn't give it up for the world. It is like having your favorite blanket around you all day: you feel comfy, you feel safe, you feel at ease. There's no pressure to drop hundreds of dollars on the latest short-lived fashion trend, or spending hours of your day putting every strand of hair perfectly in place or caking yourself with makeup. You get to direct your attention to valuable things and don't have to put up with the negatives of judgments on how you look. I swear hijab is one of the most precious and beautiful gifts in my life.
Each girl is a priceless jewel. How oppressive is it that in the West we are often only as valuable as the price tag on our clothes?
