Ophelias Bathwater
Since I haven't participated in a while, I decided to do something I thought would be on the easy side. Turns out giving up fried food was a little harder than I anticipated. I've also been making more time to read the Bible so I can find a translation that I enjoy reading.
I probably shouldn't hate on simple things like giving up certain foods. I guess it actually often is harder than it seems. I went vegan for Lent once, but I had to stop early because I was losing so much weight (and I've always been underweight to begin with).

Not quite as hardcore as giving up opiates sweatdrop . That's pretty amazing.
Thanks. I didn't quit totally cold-turkey (tried, several times, oh man is it terrible), but I found a drug-assisted system that worked really well for me. I did it myself, though, rather than going to a rehab clinic or something. Seeking professional help for my drug problem always seemed like sort of admitting defeat to me for some reason. I don't know why. I have no problem with others doing it and in fact have frequently encouraged many people I know to seek professional help. I just never could bring myself to make that phone call, though.

But my DIY detox seems to have worked. Two years clean.
