User Image.:. Host Profile .:.
Name: Sap? (May rename herself IRP)
Gender: Female
Species: Memory Fragment/ Human?
Age: Late teens early twenties. It's hard to tell.
Appearance:

Personality:

Sap has a highly odd and unfinished personality. When she dragged herself into a proper existance, her personality- what made her HER- was most of what she retained, but large chunks of herself were sucked away into oblivion before she could catch and hold them, so she has... holes... in her personality that she needs to fill with life experience.

What she has retained is a hyperactive energy. Her energy level goes from extremely excitable and optimistic to rather low and grouchy, almost within moments, springing back again shortly after.
This does mean that she is resilient to stress- she just bounces right back.

She does have an odd stress response. When things get really rough for a long period of time, she returns to a habit she picked up as her previous false existance began to fade away- she retreats inside her memories, real and invented, and relives them/ reinvents them in real time in response to real events. To her the events are happening in the dreamlike setting of her own mind.
For example, if she is in this stress-existance preservation-mode and falls into a lake, she does not percieve herself as having fallen into that lake for the whole time she is in the lake. Instead, a memory, real or created on the spot, plays out in her mind, incorporating the wetness and coldness and lake-ness. Like, a river in a rainforest, or being soaked by lizards.

This stress response is very rare and previously manifested because her existance was crumbling around her, so not likely to happen (I say that now but who the ******** knows)

She isn't a fighter. She's too compassionate to hurt anybody. She just cant bring herself to do it.
She did it once and thankfully they werent hurt badly and that memory was (mostly) lost, save for a residue of reluctance to attack with her silver miasma/magic/whatever it became when she entered this plane.

She also definitely has a strong sense of right and wrong. She knows what an average person- which is surely what she is- should and should not do based on a general morality. She wouldn't kill or steal or... anything like that.

She also has a deep pride in her self and what she can do. She holds onto that pride and that sense of herself, her adaptability, and her positivity to herself. It is, after all, the key to her existance and what stopped her from fading completely away into oblivion. She is Her. She is Silver. She is Change.
And she's proud of it.

She likes plants of all sorts, and especially loves teas. Her working knowledge of medicinal herbs was reset, in part because of the memory/soul wipe and in part because... its all different here in a real reality anyway. She also likes to eat.
Its more than just survival, its plain fun.
She also likes the art of trade. And people. She isn't particularly good at trading but she doesn't care. She just likes to chat and barter. Doesn't matter if she gets ripped off, not if she got to talk someone's ear off.

What she doesn't like isn't so clear. Other than the obvious death and ceasing to exist, the best she can make out from her cluttered, shattered, faded, tangeled, and plain incomplete thoughts of her past is that she doesn't like violence and cruelty.

There are many facets of her personality she is confused by. There are many facets of her personality that feel like gaping holes in a void, like a puzzle missing a great deal of pieces.
Still. She is adaptable, she knows this. She IS this. And so she approaches it with great energy. Doesnt matter if shes got empty spaces. She is going to fill them and more besides!

She is going to live!

    SUMMARY
    Good:
    Adaptable

    Bad:
    Ditzy
    Useless in a fight
    A little crazy/Potentially retreats into her own little mind-world

    Neutral:
    Proud
    Energetic
    Moral
    Terrified of nonexistance

Other:

    Abilities

Miasma : Sap is able to summon her miasma/essence/whatever into an aura around her hands, which she can use to either cast a small bolt of energy or shield with. If she adapts/figures it out, she might be able to heal with it. The energy is silvery and wispy. She calls it her 'Miasma'.

Change : She also tends to take on colors/characteristics of her surroundings if there for an extended amount of time. Usually, these changes are slight and thematic, often cosmetic but sometimes practical. Typically they remain in human range, but can be slight modifications towards what she percieves as 'normal' in the setting she is in. She also will often revert when away from that area.
The whole thing is subconcious, slow-acting, and subtle. She never notices it, and it never causes her discomfort.
Whether its a side effect of her pre-fading ability as a member of the silver kingdom to 'adapt' or if it's because, as an incomplete entity, she is drawing energy or 'inspiration' from what is around her is hard to tell. Perhaps a bit of both.
Example: she is in a forest setting full of elves. If she stays there for a while, she starts gradually getting pointed ears and angled eyes, and maybe a little taller. She also becomes adjusted to the ground and light levels in the forest.
Anybody could tell she wasn't an elf, but she would look a bit more like she 'fit' in the setting...
If moved to a water area where most things were underwater, she would revert to her usual self, losing her elf traits (unless there were water elves or something) and her forest traits and starting to aquire water-appropriate subtle traits. Perhaps not underwater breathing, but certainly better underwater vision, swimming, and breath time. Perhaps cosmetic things like scales.
The ability is simply there as a callback and a theme-fitter sort of thing. So that she isn't out of place everywhere forever. She cant actually shapeshift, and everything is completely outside of her control (except for things she can effect cosmetically, like with makeup or brushes or scissors or whatever)

History

The fragment couldn't scream as it unraveled into it's components. The fragment had nothing. None of it's false life, it's false experiences, it's false thoughts were retained against the swirling tide of unmaking.
All it had was what it clung to itself in a desperate attempt to exist.
It had only a sense of self and a few shining silver pieces of glass-like shattered memories.
It struggled to hold it together, inventing stories to give itself something, some sort of mass to hold it together.
It knew a bit of the truth now, that it was a shadow piece of someone else, someone different, someone alive.
It had wanted to exist before, but this knowledge only made it's desire to live burn brighter and stronger.
It pulled itself together, grabbing at anything that felt familiar, anything that felt like it. It wove stories. All false, but what mattered? Real oblivion or false existence?
There was no thought or true intent. Just the desire to exist.
The storm of unmaking did not let up, and the fragment struggled to survive. It was a falsehood, what were more falsehoods extending out like a mesh to catch more particles of shadows and existence to it. It wriggled like a tadpole in the inexorable tide that threatened to wash it away.
Suddenly, a break in reality/unreality/nothingness. A path? A hope? It wriggled more and flipped inside. Light, REAL light surrounded it.

~~~
If the fragment had stayed and let itself be dismantled, it would have had a chance to return and learn the truth. To speak with it's friends- it's kingdoms- and say goodbye as the world of the Seven Kingdoms ended.
It would have even had a chance to share it's experiences, its life with the Sentient Tree that had lent it the memories that had once given it form.
But it had escaped the simulated reality. It had fled.
The sentient tree in the world of Halloween went about her business not knowing that, in a universe away from her own, another her had lived, fought, and been nearly wiped away.
Because the fragment had escaped.
~~~

The fragment had been through loss. The fragment had had to escape a falling city that, as far as they had known they had lived in their whole lives. The fragment had had to adjust to a new place, new people. New FRIENDS.
They had had to fight a meaningless war, had had to climb hundreds of stairs, had had to not see, hear, or speak as their world fluttered to pieces around them.

They had had to do so much in a false lifetime.

And now... They have a new life.
