In a street fight (knives, guns, hand-to-hand, etc.) Anita would SO kick Merry's a**. But officially, Merry has more metaphysical weapons in her arsenal, so.... Yeah, let's call this a draw.
With magic, I think that although Merry has been surrounded by it her whole life, and is not afraid to use it, Anita has applied it better. It's not the amount that matters, but how you use it. ^^
And with dating.... I think that Anita wins this one hands down. Anita practically sat on her a** and had men crawling to her bed without her doing anything except being herself. Merry only had Galen and Roane until Andais decreed that she had to shag multiple men. In my opinion, using Merry as an escape from celibacy isn't on par with the men just lusting/loving Anita.
Wow. This sounds incredibly biased towards Anita, but I honestly am not impressed with Merry as much as with Anita (duh hello, necromancer versus sidhe princess? obvious choice here). Although if this was like a Miss America pagaent, then Merry would SO win the swimsuit and formalwear contests. whee

Dating it would be Meridith I think becuase not many men would want take on Anita, I mean shes kickass and all but having to deal with all the s**t she does, and he would probably seem realy weak.

The only one I think there is an outright winner in is Fighting because Anita can just kick butt....
On dating they both have issues with it. Mainly because of either the Arduer or the going to be Queen thing. So they both have issue choosing partners. Anita is more moral based though.
In Magic I think they both don't really know what they are doing. Yes, Merry grew up with it around. Yet they both keep getting new powers and have no clue what they are doing.

Well I'm not entirely sure.
I mean for fighting Anita would kick a** with guns, blades, etc, but Merry had her good fighting points too. If they went head to head I guess it would be and all out draw, but I think Anita would win but thats just because she's Anita lol and she pwns all.
And Magic ... well I guess Meredith would probably win on that one hands down, but I'm not too sure. Guess it depends on the view of how you use it.
And dating ... it would be Anita. Merry might have had a lot of men but thats not really the point. Anita has had a lot more relationships based on more than just sex.

Well for pure one on one fighting I'd have to say Anita, that girl could kick a** with a toothbrush.
Magic wise, I'd say a tie, simply b/c they're both so different in what they can do magically speaking, Merry can bring death with a simple flick of her hand, Anita can animate the dead-on two different sides of the scale if you ask me.
Finally dating wise...it truly is a toss up again. Simply for the fact that although Merry has less hang ups and problems when it comes to sex, I haven't seen any major relationship developement in the books. Anita on the other hand attracts people by being herself, but she's not so good at juggling everyone's feelings and addressing all their needs, she has too much going on in her life for that. Though if it were up to me, I'd choose Anita's way of thinking when it comes to relationships, sure the sex may be great, but is it truly the same without the feeling that comes from being in love?

fighting without magic= Anita
fighting with magic= Anita without a chance
but if we are just comparing the magics they're about the same seeing how both have sex blood and death involved
dating men= Anita
sex with men= MERRY!!!

i like merry better than anita, evn though i read anita first..i think thts because merry is about faeries which you don't see that often.. anita is better at fighting because she's BA, merry is better at magic because she grew up around it and is a magical being whereas anita isn't, and as far as overall storyline i think they're both tied to be honest.
