GENERAL Name: Vadima Von Ripperda Gender: female Birthday: June 20st House: Slytherin Blood Status: mixed Wand: Apple/ Pheonix / 11 / Surpisingly springy Wand Hand: right PERSONALITY General: Vadima is unusually charismatic and cheerful for a Slytherin with an easy smile and a warm accent and a skill with words that can make almost anything sound reasonable. She has a tendency to laugh and sing and be a good deal more chatty then most of her Slytherin brethren and it’s not unusual to see her striking up a conversation with someone new in the hall. She appears to be quite disarmingly friendly and the word to watch here is ‘disarming.’ Vadima is clever enough to give most Ravenclaws a run for their money only information and knowledge to her is a currency. Her favorite currency in fact. She may act friendly and even truly be friendly, but she’s just as dangerous if not more so then your average Slytherin. Vadima is not so much the troublemaker as the accomplice or the brains behind an idea. She sees little use in silly wand waving and magical combat preferring to solve her problems with intelligence or black mail and vicious tactics in the unusual and rare event that her intellect fails her. However that won’t stop her from making friends who happened to be skilled in such areas if only so they can hold off any attackers from her long enough for her to figure out a plan. In fact most prefer not to startle or scare her since she has a bad habit of producing flame and setting things on fire when surprised that or throwing things. Vadima simply prefers to get others to do the heavy lifting while she does the thinking and is fully capable of leading and working hard for a group so long as such work remains in the research or intelligence area. Her talent with potions and likely later on alchemy will make her an excellent source for ‘eh-hem’ restricted items for any willing to buy from her or bring her the ingredients to brew. She also has a distinct love of experimental magic and has been toying around with the idea of creating miniature dragons. Sadly though her talent with potions is great, if not a wee bit questionable when she tries pairing it with transfiguration during her experiments, most Hogwarts students aren’t willing to risk buying from a first year even if she has an unusually wide selection. Possibly Vadima’s greatest gift though is that of language. The young Slytherin has a natural if not unanny knack for picking up new languages be they magical or non-magical and has a great passion for words. In fact she wouldn’t make a bad ambassador or explorer and is certainly the girl you want with you if you’re traveling. She currently speaks English, Romanian, German, Goblin and wants to learn Mermish or any other new language she can get her hands on. She lives by the saying ‘Knowledge is Power’ and if there is one thing Vadima wants it’s power. She wants to be a wizard of great renown and thirsts for greatness pushing herself relentlessly to achieve her lofty goals. Vadima is a rather quick witted, open minded, and flexible girl however if a project doesn’t hold her attention in it’s fullest it’s likely to be forgotten unless she’s constantly reminded of it. However such reminders may not always be met with gratitude since if there’s one thing Vadima hates it’s being interrupted in her work. However she’s a skilled enough talker usually to get herself out of whatever trouble she’s just gotten herself into. Despite her cheerful and rather uncaring and confident exterior Vadima secretly longs for approval and affection though she’s very good at hiding it. However when someone special to her does shoot her down or a project she’d really put herself into has failed she’s prone to bouts of melancholy and is not unlikely to forget any wrongs done to her. Vadima can be very very vindictive when wronged and with her natural skill at potions it’s best one watch what they eat or drink for a time though that still might not be enough to save you from her long memory.
Habits: She has a habit of making lists of things and tends to double check everything if she can while mumbling to herself. Vadoma also hums while she works and fidgets with her hair clip and hair when bored. Sometimes lapses into other languages when not paying attention. Hobbies: Potion brewing, reading (Mostly books on magical creatures, herbs, and Alchemy), Writing, Attempting to learn new languages to add to her growing collection of them. Likes: potions, dragons, books, riddles, bright colors Dislikes:dueling, cruel jokes, her grandparents, spicy food, confined places with no readily available exit.FAMILY Mother: Merela Gunari Father: Amedius Von Ripperda Siblings: none Extended Family: Urquhart Von Ripperda / alive / wizard / grandfather Lupa Von Ripperda / alive/ witch / grandmother Nacu Gunari / alive/ muggle/ grandfather Drina Gunari / deceased/ muggle/ grandmother Caractacus Von Ripperda/ deceased/ wizard / Uncle Harman Gunari / alive/ muggle/ Uncle Bo Gunari / alive/ muggle/ cousin Tamas Gunari/ alive/ muggle/ cousin Lionza Gunari/ alive/ muggle cousin Tobar Gunari/ alive/ muggle/ cousin
Relationship with Family: Vadoma greatly loves her mother and father and adores her cousins even if they do sometimes give her a rough time for being the only girl out of the lot of them. She loves her grandfather Nacu, but only respects and is somewhat resentful of her grandmother Lupa and grandfather Urquhart. This is mostly due for them taking her away from her parents for the time being. HISTORY General History: The Von Ripperda family was an extremely old pureblood german wizarding family famous for producing some of the finest duelists in the world. However as the world has gradually become safer and life and death duels a good deal rarer the family has lost much of it's fame and fallen out of favor with the high society they once so greatly prized. This ignominy only increased when Urquhart and Lupa Von Ripperda's eldest son Amedius who had shown great promise at school and begun to gather fame among the higher wizarding social circles for his wit and intelligence fell deeply in love with a young Romani muggle girl. Despite his families threats and pleas he married her and followed her to London where he was promptly cut off from the family fortune, disowned, and managed to find a decent if somewhat low paying job working for the Ministry in their magical creature management department.
Soon enough Merela and Amedius had a little bouncing baby girl they named Vadima and unable to keep coming up with excuses for the odd and very magical occurrences his child caused Amedius was forced to tell Merela that he was a wizard. She took it well enough though was a bit faint at the idea of dealing with not only the troubles of a normal child, but one that could very well be levitating cookies or blow up half the house practicing magic one day. However after some time the three of them settled in and Vadima grew up in a loving, caring, if not sometimes a little threadbare home. She often on calm days went to work with her father marveling at all the magical creatures and spouting off a constant string of questions about everything she saw and she was happy.
The Von Ripperda's though had taken to pretending their eldest son and his mixed blood disgrace of a family did not exist and began pushing their younger son Caractacus to succeed and take his elder brothers place. However their hopes were dashed when Caractacus was killed in a floo accident and they were left to face a future with no magical heir and the possibility that their line would come to an end.
That is until news came through some of their associates that Vadima had received her entrance letter to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy. Vadima's father was no doubt thrilled and her mother though not quite grasping the prestige of it all was very proud of her daughter. However as the joy wore off the worry began to set it. The little family was barely getting by as it was off of her father's salary and what her mother could pull in with side jobs. Even with her uncles help it was unlikely they could afford the books and many things a young growing witch would need for their schooling. Preying upon this it was then that the Von Ripperda's stepped in. They offered to pay the fees, the books, get Vadima the nicest clothing and equipment. Everything she would need and more would be given to her for her schooling and Amedius wouldn't have to worry about a thing. Like all things though it came with a catch. For the duration of her schooling Vadima would live with them, visits with her mother and father would be allowed during the holidays, but she would be under their custody and act as heir to the family. . .unfortunate blood status or no. With a heavy heart and the understanding that with help a bright girl like Vadima could go far they agreed and Vadima was later sent off to Hogwarts with the knowledge that at the end of the year she would go to live with her grandparents.
MISCELLANEOUS The Sorting: Vadoma stared down at her shoes. They were new and made out of good black leather and chafed a little against the fluffy white socks she wore. Everything she wore was new. Vadoma had always loved change and the excitement it brought, but as she stared down at them waiting with the other first years for her name to be called she wasn't entirely sure she liked new. New meant leaving her parents and cousins behind. However that didn't stop her eyes from roaming as she marveled at the ceiling and candles and all the magic. Growing up in a mostly muggle household her father had used magic rarely since it made her mother a bit uneasy. "Vadoma Von Ripperda!" The sorter called as she stepped up to the stool taking a sit as the big tattered talking hat was lowered onto her head. In the midst of the dark she heard a voice. . .
Such a curious mind, but a lust for power as well. You want knowledge and you don't seem despite your morals to mind bending the rules a little to get it. You want to solve riddles that lead to fortunes, knowledge, and greatness. I expect great things from you “SLYTHERIN!” The hat was quickly pulled off her head and Vadoma slipped off the stool padding over the black and green covered table and the other students who sat there smiling and clapping for her.
Boggart: Being trapped and suffocating alive.
Mirror of Erised: To become a world famous Potions master or Alchemist. Also to ride a dragon.
EXTRA CREDIT
Patronus: Romanian Longhorn (By far her favorite dragon it reminds her strongly of her mother’s heritage.)
Greatest Treasure: Her potions set and the little gold Romanian Longhorn hair clip her father gave her before she came to Hogwarts
Manner of Dress: Neat and usually with some bright bit of color on it and a few burn or soot marks from potion experiments or being startled. (Has a bad habit of accidentally setting things on fire when scared or surprised.)
Favorite Class: Potions and transfiguration which will later on be replaced by alchemy
Worst Class: Defense Against the Dark arts and Flying (Refuses to get on anything that doesn’t have wings and the common sense not to run into a wall with her riding on it.)
