It wasn't simply a forest. It was The Forest, the first and only that the world had ever needed. Under an ocean of starlight, the trees spread out like a school of fish, endless in every direction. Rani looked up at the sky, or at least where she assumed the sky was. It was impossible to see that deep mantle of blue through the thick branches of the trees. The trees themselves were the giants of this world, the skeleton that held the whole forest together. And yet, the snow always managed to fall down between the branches. This annoyed Rani for some reason she couldn't quite define.

Then again, over the course of the day, she had also been annoyed by the fish in the river, the fact that a bush didn't have as many berries as she wanted, and a bird that she swore was following her.

“Piss off, you little devil!” she shouted at the bird. She snorted, a cloud of steam rising from her nostrils, as she glared at the small and relatively inoffensive bird. It's only real crime was singing when she didn't want it too, but that was quite enough for her. “You are so bloody lucky that I can't climb trees, otherwise you'd be tweeting out of another hole,” she muttered, well aware that the bird was harmless.

It was just making an awful lot of racket. Apparently Rani felt like this was a challenge to her own noise making abilities. She shifted from hoof to hoof, still glaring at the bird in the hopes of developing spontaneous glare beams, before she finally decided to at least eat something. She nosed some half-frozen moss hopefully. Nooo, she'd probably just break her teeth on that.

“At least, if you're going to make a lot of noise, you could find another tune. Tweet tweet bloody tweet must get boring once in a while,” she said, for the sake of hearing her own voice. It was swallowed up by the silence, just as the bird's hopeless calls were.

He felt like he haddn't entered the dreaming in forever. With watching over Patia in her older age, he seemed to have gotten distracted from what he was and what he could do. So he decided it was time for a visit. So, Osa had been wandering around 'The Forest' chasing after small animals and just causing a minor ruckus. This was, unfortunately, not far off what he normally did in the not dreaming forest. Nothing really changes.

After crashing into a fallen log while chasing a rabbit, he could hear someone talking in the distance. Even as he got his bearings physically, his ears swiveled to locate the direction of the... rather angry voice. This got his attention even more. With ears and sights locked in on the voice he began to trot as quietly as he could towards it.

The language was crass, and that kind of excited the buck. Soon, he was able to see the disgruntled doe and hearing her plight, he chuckled. He tilted his head to the side and looked up at the bird and back down to her.

"Havin' a bit of trouble, are ya'?" He said with a slight hum of delight in her fiery nature. Osa would identify himself more as water like element, should all guardians have elements.

"Come now, that bird ain't done nothin' to ya, unless he's been peckin' at yer tail before I came on by." Osa took a moment to shake out his fur of any snow flakes and gave an almost playful snort, swirling out a stream of steam from his nostrils.

What? Oh. Another Guardian. Rani pranced briefly to turn around and face the other deer, trying to fit him somewhere on her rather limited spectrum of Friend vs. Foe. Perhaps he'd have to go into the last category of Uncertain. No one ever remained there for very long. “Tell me, you ever accidentally blind someone with your eyes there?” she shot back, unwilling to let even the most minor of minor insults past (ie, that she was having trouble of any sort).

Well. She looked Osa up and down bluntly before her hackles slowly started settling down. He didn't seem dangerous. The least she could do was be rudimentary polite. No, really. That was the least she could do. She barked a laugh and nodded back towards the stubborn little bird. “It's easy for you to say. You're not the one that's been followed around by a one-bird serenade for the past... oh... hell, I don't know how long. Does it matter? Any amount of time is too long when it's constantly interrupted by an animal with the intelligence of a fly.”

Bold as brass, she ventured closer to the buck, head tilted to one side. “What's your name anyway? I could just call you Bucky, of course, but it seems polite to ask. I'm Rani.”

Eyes? He wasn't sure if she was flirting or taking a stab at him. What was wrong with his eyes? Osa shook it off mentally and raised eyes 'eyebrows' slightly. "Nope, not in years." He teased gently, taking the verbal hit and rolling with it. "They usually get it back in a few days though, not to worry." Osa glanced back up at the tweeting bird a moment while the doe went on about it.

When he looked back to her, she was closer. Rani, huh? He thought as he quickly glanced her over. She was a pretty doe, but it seemed most 'doe's were. He lowered his head in almost a bow.

"I'm called Osa." He said then tilted his head up at her from it's lowered position. "But Bucky works if you want to call me that." He offered. It seemed the Buck was rather laid back, having lived with the Gypsy gave him such a demeanor.

His ear flicked lightly, ah he could see why she was getting frustrated. The bird didn't seem to know any other tune but one.

Ha! Not a bad reply. Rani barked a brief laugh when Bucky, as he would forever be known, failed to look even a little bit hurt by her barb. She liked that in another Guardian. Life was no fun without at least a little bit of spice and a healthy dose of snark. If she was aware she was being judged a 'pretty doe', she didn't show it. “Well, that's a relief. What brings you out here, oh bringer of temporary and mildly inconvenient blindness?”

Her joy didn't last long though, since that damn bird kept chirping. She glared at it one last time before making a decision. “Come on then. Let's try somewhere else for foraging. Can't say much for the dinner or the show opportunities out here. There'll probably be something better by the river and at least we can talk.”

She didn't wait for a reply, but started trotting past the buck immediately.

The buck tilted his head this way and that. "Oh, nothin' special just a walk. Stretchin' the ol'legs and shakin' the dust out of my coat." He flicked his ears forward and looked off at the bird again as she seemed to be more and more disgruntled with it.

Ah the river, he knew it well and he'll try not to make a complete fool of himself while he was there. He trotted after her, keeping just behind her, letting her lead the way. He couldn't help but hum softly, seemed like the bird got to him, but atleast his tune was different. If he caught sight of her ears turning toward him, he'd catch himself and stop.

"So, have any complaints about other critters 'round here?" He asked curiously looking ahead to see the river coming into view.
