Yesterday I went down to Gamestop to pre-order Pokemon Y, and while I was there I asked the guy if he knew when Animal Crossing was coming out. He told me that they finally got a solid release date for it, May 2nd. So, we could have the game in a few months! I'd say that's not too shabby for a release date, even though we were strung along for a couple of years.
(I would have posted this yesterday, but my internet crapped out...)

I haven't played AC in years, not since the gamecube game. My mom was super obsessed with it.

Lol Gamestop. lol I wouldn't get your hopes up. It's just a placeholder. There hasn't been an official release date, and trust me there would be one listed other than at GS if it were true. I usually find Amazon to be more trustworthy with their release dates, as those don't really update (from what I've seen) until they get an official date.

There hasn't been an official release date, and trust me there would be one listed other than at GS if it were true. I usually find Amazon to be more trustworthy with their release dates, as those don't really update (from what I've seen) until they get an official date. I understand and respect your opinion, however, I disagree. I think it's entirely plausible that May 2nd is the release date. It's in the first half of the year, isn't it? And that was the release window? Just saying, it seems accurate enough. Also, I know that most pre-order dates are placeholders, but after 2 years, they don't tend to stay placeholders.

Yeaah...GS listed the same date last year, with Kid Icarus and Paper Mario on the same "release" date. >_>
I'm just saying it would be more logical to wait for the company itself to post a release date than a store that can only guesstimate. It would save a lot of frustration and disappointment.

I really hope that's true. Can't wait for the new AC game! I've played the others a lot (WW being my favorite)

Every date GameStop has had so far has been a lie placeholder. I think we'd see every gaming site singing the word if it was a true date. I certainly hope its around then, but no way to know for sure yet. I'm kinda thinking its going to be more around summer.
I should go reserve X...

As others have said, I wouldn't get my hopes up on that being the release date. I personally wish it's sooner than that because Japan has had New Leaf since November, and a May release would mean we'd have it six months after them. Dx
