She stands at the unusually tall height of 5' 7" and weighs about 115 pounds. She is small in frame, and can be described as "willowy" in her figure. She has very long brown hair that is more often than not styled in a half pin up, with the rest of her long straight tresses cascading down her back. Her fingers are long and tapered, which helps her with her works as a musician. Unlike many traditional Chinese females, her feet are not bound and broken, so they are larger than an average traditionalist woman's feet. She is heterosexual in terms of sexuality, and has a small birthmark on the right, backside of her neck, as well as another on her left ankle. Her eyes are brown, her facial features are delicate, and her frame is small. She is the tender age of twenty-one, her ears are pierced once, and she prefers Feminine fashion choices such as Qipaos, kimonos, robes, skirts, dresses, and other traditional clothing when not in costume or on assignment.

Optimistic by choice of nature, Qiu Lan is something of a bright persona. She seeks peace out of all situations, and avoids negativity to the best of her ability. She is strong and determined, and very much goal oriented. Once she sets her sights on a prize or goal there is little that anyone can do to stop her. She is fiercely loyal and will fight for those she trusts and defend them with her highest honor. She is patient and can think through situations that others may have difficulty staying still and waiting for. She is very smart and likes to think things through, rather then act rashly and ruin a good thing. She has many opinions about things, but she often keeps them to herself. She is seen as soft spoken about things that bother her personally, but if she finds someone she cares for is hurting,s he will speak up in their defense. She doesn't like bullies and she will not watch those she care for be cut down, especially when they are trying to defend her. She sis self sacrificing and prefers to take others torments on herself. She is empathetic in the way that she can and will try to relate to any with any problem. She doesn't believe in letting a person suffer alone when there are shoulders to be given and burdens to be lifted. Though she may not be or have much, she will give until she has nothing left. She trusts blindly, and is often seen as gullible, as she puts her heart on her sleeve and hopes that everyone will be reciprocating of such a trait, even though that is clearly not how the world always works. She is determined to find the good in all people, even when they show darkness in most of what they do. She firmly believes in second chances and will give opportunities of redemption past the normal point of others, but once her trust has been broken completely, she will turn and can hold a grudge for quite a time if she chooses.

Qiu Lan was born as the second child to a traditionalist family in China. Her father worked as a common laborer in one of the larger factories, and her mother worked closer to home as a seamstress and clothing washer. Her elder brother was her senior by ten years of age, and worked hard around the family home while going to school. As the second daughter in a world where only two children were allowed, it was something of a happy chance that she was born the second child. Sons were coveted and were sought after, so the fact that the she was the second child and her family had been blessed with a boy first only made all the more sense as a happy working. Born in the Year of the Sheep at the time Given to the Zodiac Horse, those who looked upon her promised that she would find a superb match for her future partner. Of course, the only one who looked in on the girl child besides her immediate family after her birth was the village midwife, but even her words were regarded with high stock. The family prayed that Qiu Lan would find happiness and a bountiful life beyond what they could offer. As humble working class citizens in a country that was full of many, hearing news of a superb match for her future was all that her parents could hope for. With the blessing of the midwife, Qiu Lan's mother took her child and spent the first few years of her life in close proximity.

It grew harder, given the economic structure of the country, as well as the income of the family to support their children, spend time with them, and also work. The more Qiu Lan's parents worked, the less time they spent with their children. With their son working, going to school, and raising his sister, it was hard for the young girl child to comprehend much of what she was being taught. She began to form words, working in her native tongue, learning the common dialect of the Village in Mandarin. As she grew, it became clear that she would be a beauty, but with this knowledge came the cursed side of the blessing. There was no place in this harsh part of the country for a beautiful girl child. Not unless there was a desire to mar her pale hands of silk in the wash waters of China. All the while, her devoted parents struggled further and further under the financial burden of their two beloved children. They looked to their son, who was already accustomed to the harsh life ahead of him, and then to their daughter who bloomed more beautiful everyday. There was no place for this daughter they had brought into the world. With heavy hearts, on their precious daughter's fifth birthday, they offered her for sale to the official in their country, hoping to give her some sort of a better life than the one they could offer her themselves.

The purchase was made in the way of a young man, rich in wealth and old in age. He took Qiu Lan with the promise that he would educate her and raise her to be a proper young woman. It seemed fortune's star shined down upon her, and the man that had purchased the young Qiu Lan did just as he had said and had her educated. She learned of the arts and or literature and languages and arithmetic. She was a privileged and beautiful child, growing further into her beauty, just as she grew into her height, hands, fingers, and education. She was enlightened by several religious perspectives beyond her formal education. The arts, specifically music were her favorite to learn about, and she worked diligently in them. Her fingers were long and tapered appendages, making them the perfect tools to use to play formal instruments that her "father" provided her with. Seeing the work and skill she had with the instruments, he began to push more lessons upon her, making sure she excelled beyond the simple basics. At the age of fourteen, Qiu Lan was known in many Provinces over China for her musical abilities. She was particularly skilled in strings, both plucked and bowed. Her secondary instrument, only by a few points was her voice. She learned others, but found that strings and vocals often were preferred for performances. Her "father" helped her with getting contracted performances for large and small corporations.

At the age of Eighteen, Qiu Lan was considered to be an adult, and her adoptive father told her of the family she had in the past. Vague memories of them came back to her, and she didn't at first understand why her "father" had kept this truth hidden from her, but perhaps it was not her business. She nodded, keeping her emotions hidden. She was not to argue. This was her father. Her elder. She was to respect her elders. Not to mention, he was also a male, and she was to respect males as well. She simply smiled and went to work more on the performances she was contracted to. When she heard of an opportunity to travel to Japan and work in a themed park as a musician, she jumped at the opportunity. Bidding goodbye to her adoptive father, and thanking him for his support and love over the past thirteen years of her life, the young woman left the confines of her stifling second home and the emotional turmoil there, and moved to Japan. She struggled with the Japanese at first, but picked it up, and bettered her English, dropping some of the accent she had while back home. Knowing multiple languages was something helpful to the young woman, and as she worked at the park, she made man great friends. One, Layla, she kept in great contact with. The two still speak frequently, even though since moving to Japan, Qiu Lan has taken on the route of a contracted performer. She performs for large firms and for orchestra when certain instruments are needed. She is also available for private performance when requested.

Lan, meaning Orchid, was given to her because her parents felt as though she was their treasured Orchid Flower at the time of her birth.

Tall and rather thin in frame for his Zodiac Curse, Ichirou is the Tiger of the Chinese zodiac. A cursed member of the Sohma family, the twenty-five year old stands at a towering height of six feet, eight inches and weights 200 pounds. Though he is a fully grown male, his frame is rather small given his zodiac animal, and the average weight and height of men his age. His legs are very long, and his torso, while still proportionate, is on the shorter side. His features can be seen as delicate, and his face definitely has a boyish charm to it. His hair is the color of starlight on a clear evening, meaning it's Silver to white depending on the lighting, and free flowing to just past his shoulders. His eyes are a crystal clear ice blue, which he uses to his full advantage wen gazing at someone. Sure it might distract them, but it's all fine and dandy when it's actually done on purpose. He bears a small tattoo of a spade underneath his left eye, the right if you're looking into his face and not getting distracted by his gaze and charming smile. Both of his ears are pierced, although, you'll only ever see him in studs. He is certainly a ladies man, which brings out the beautiful Tiger in him. Yet, instead of being a classic orange tiger, this man is a white tiger with beautiful black stripes coursing down his body. His eyes still remain a charming crystal blue hue, and he certainly doesn't lose his gentlemanly qualities when he shifts. He'll still stand by those, and will use his animal form to gain Intel, but only when it's appropriate of course. How many tigers can one really see walking around freely? LIke seval of the Sohma's, the family has some money, and could easily provide for themselves without having to do much work at all, however Ichirou prefers to be hard working, so he models with his free time, rather than let himself sit around and do nothing.

Ichirou is a tender soul. That does not by any means translate to him not being able to take care of himself. He is a lover at the heart, preferring to find what others like and fill their needs before his own if he can. He is loyal to those he holds in high regards, and always respectful to those above him, even when they leave him tongue tied and irritated. He pours his heart and soul into his endeavors and can be seen as a person of great creative vision when he truly tries. He works hard and doesn't believe anything comes for free. He respects what he has, but wants to work for himself, and will work hard. he's not afraid of getting a little dirty or breaking a nail or getting scraped up, even though as a model most would refrain from such. He cares deeply about those who are close to him, and can often tell when something is amiss with those in his inner circle. He tried to keep everyone happy, but has realized there are limits to protect people's happiness. He can also be seen as mischievous, because he is not always straight forward. he likes to talk in riddles, and seeing people tongue tied after he's spoken brings him great amusement on occasion. This tends to go doubly for when he is a tiger instead of a man. Though, it is not always so, as he knows there are limits and is mature enough to compose and handle himself when necessary. His compassion knows no bounds, and he will do his best to help everyone in need that he can, from strangers that are starving on the street, to sick animals, to members of his own family. He may seem predictable to some, but he tried to spice it up often, leaving his best traits untouched and always present, even when it bothers him to do such. He's a true to his word kind of guy, and never backs down from a promise, even if it threatens to break him.

It was truly a terrible time to be born, when Icirou came. His mother, dazed and confused with all that went on, was merely a human. Of course, she was a member of the Sohma family, but not one that actively knew of the Zodiac curse. His father, also a Sohma was a well versed business man who had clearly been warned that his child was susceptible to the curse. His mother, oblivious to the situation and possible outcomes in her pregnancy did not suspect anything could go wrong with her perfect son. His father, while he had been warned, dismissed the thought. he wife was strong and healthy, and she would bear no cursed child. The timing would be opportune and allow no wiggle room for mistakes or chances. Their child would be a normal boy, and there would be not further discussion about the silly curse that plagued some of the Sohma family. In fact, once the child was born, they might even pull away form the main estate and go to live out in the country in a separate place so that the child would never know of the silly curse, just like his mother. this was the plan. This was the intention of the father and mother. A normal, perfect child, with their features; brown hair, wonderful gemstone green eyes, tall like his mother, delicate like his father, happy, healthy, and absolutely one-hundred percent normal. This was of course, not the care or the result of said pregnancy.

When Icirou was born, it was clear that he was cursed as a member of the zodiac. The tiger to be exact. This was the start of everything going down hill. It had been said that the mothers who bear children cursed by the zodiac either become fiercely protective of their children, or reject them completely. In the case of Ichirou's mother, the latter was more appropriate. She was in disbelief. This child that they presented her with once he was cleaned up, and bundled, was not her child. He looked nothing like them! His hair was as pale as the stars in heaven, his eyes were crystal blue, though she hoped they would change. But the curse that plagued the child was unfamiliar. She had never heard of such a thing in the Sohma family! It was some sort of cruel joke. This boy was not her child. The father looked on, dumbfounded. he had seen his wife birth this child. It was undoubtedly the result of their procreation, but it could not be more a stranger to him. It mystified him, but in the end, he only blamed himself for not taking the warnings more seriously. The fact that he had been warned at all meant that it was a possibility to have a cursed child. He should have been more attentive to the warnings and the signs that he was imagining to have existed. With the mother in denial, the wife of his child, the father took the child away. The mother would not look upon her child. She would not believe that she had birthed a monster, and instead asked about her child. When telling the woman that her child was indeed cursed by the Zodiac to be both Man and Tiger, the woman continued in her refusal, and asked again after the whereabouts of her child. It was impossible to reconcile with the woman, and in the end, the answer came that the child had died shortly after birth, and that there was nothing to be done about it. Distraught, the woman began to be reclusive.

The child, Ichirou, was turned over to his paternal grandparents for raising while the father dealt with the distraught wife and mother. The grandparents were just as shocked as the mother, bu they accepted and welcomed their grandchild in open arms, seeing it as a blessing, rather than a curse. Of course, to publicly announce such, would be close to a crime, but they would not speak of such. Only to their grandchild would they revel how happy they were that he was special. They taught him, as he grew from infant, to toddler, to a young boy in their care, that he should not be ashamed of what he was. That he needed to be careful with how he acted. He learned quickly that hugging members of the opposite gender was something he couldn't do. he wasn't allowed to go outside and play, or go to school when he got sick. He had to keep his "secret power" to himself. He could not share it with the other children, because they would not understand it. Of course, he was visited by his father frequently, but his mother stayed away. In fact, his mother did not even know that he existed. She had seen him for fleeting moments right after his birth, but she quickly dismissed that the monster was her child. He stayed with his grandparents, raised by their tender hands, and rejoiced in the times when his father would come and visit, even if they were strained. This was probably the beginning of his intuitive perceptions. When his father came and visited, even though he was only a young boy around five or six, he still understood that when his father smiled at him, the lines around his eyes were forced. He was deeply saddened that his wife had rejected their child. he blamed himself for not being able to properly care for the boy and raise him on his own, but there was not much to be done about it. Fate had not been kind. The smiles and tension mixed together became more and more clear as Ichirou grew.

When he was ten, he started visiting his mother. In small doses, he was said to be an orphan taken in by her in-laws, and that he was living close by and had wanted to see the couple's daughter. It struck the mother odd, that the boy spoke so formally, and familiarly with the grandparents, calling them grandmother and grandfather, but the couple was old, and it probably gave them comfort to have a child that called them such, when she had not been able to produce a grandchild for them herself. It perturbed her at first, and she looked to Ichirou with disdain, not knowing that he was indeed her child, and it wounded the boy. It deeply frustrated him, given that he had been doted upon. He had been given anything he had asked for since the time he was a little boy. He hadn't wanted or needed for anything. Of course, he was respectful and not terribly spoiled, but he had never come into a proximity with something that he could not have. His mother's affections were the first obstacle. And try as he might, he could not win her over on the first visit. Nor the second, or the ten to come after that. It was polite conversation with an air of rash judgement and distrust underlying everything. And so, that was the turning point. it made Ichirou work hard at something for the first time. he wanted more than anything to gain his mother's affections,ad n he wanted to do it himself. not with the help of his grandparents or father. He didn't want to seem like a charity case anymore. he went out and began to work. It was frowned upon at first by all parties that were in charge of his guardianship, but he told them it was something that he had to do. It was something he needed to do desperately. This boy, now fourteen, would get a job to woo the mother he had been trying to get to know and get close with for four years. He worked odd jobs until he came to be discovered by a modeling company. It was extensively researched, and also made very clear by his guardians that there would be no shoots with women. It would be single shots, or other men. The reasoning behind this was that the lotions and perfumes that women used were unsafe for Ichirou's health, and that it caused a severe allergic reaction. While this was not a steady excuse, it worked for the time being. his agent was remarkable and did what Ichirou and his guardians were comfortable with.

When he had saved money, and had pictures and a magazine spread from a shoot, he visited his mother, taking her out to lunch with his own money, and telling her that he wished to be closer to her because they were family. His mother scoffed at him, telling him blood family was the only family that would ever matter. He was an illegitimate add on. He was of no importance to her. She pined for the child she had lost years ago. The child that had died with her birth. She hated the monster that had been given to her instead. She loathed this boy who sat in front of her, looking so much like that monster had as a child, and wanted nothing to do with him. She didn't want the memories to resurface. She didn't want to think about this silly child. Ichirou was wounded. his mother would never see him for what he was. Why hadn't his father simply had her memory wiped? He had heard tales of one cursed as he was, that had the power to wipe memories clean. Why had his father not done such? Why had he let his wife suffer and carry bitter resentment in her heart for fifteen years? Over a child that existed all along, that she had scorned because sh could not accept him? Taking her home after lunch, he looked to her fiercely once they were back at the main estate. he had been warned not to speak of his birth and his true mother and father on visits, that his mother was too fragile to know the truth. It seemed more like his mother was an ignorant old woman who would not see the truth. She was not fragile if she carried such bitter resentment in her heart. He ended up telling her the truth. He told her that his grandparents had raised him because she would not look at him. he told her that she had called him a monster and scorned him without ever truly knowing him. She had scorned him as a child when he could not fend for himself. She had cast him away, and all he had done since he'd met her was try to gain her affection. Her love. Her acceptance, and she had not give it to him. What kind of mother was she, to throw away her own child? And she thought she would excel at motherhood?!

That revelation was what shattered everything. His mother went reeling, screaming and cursing at him, and it broke Ichirou's heart, he was sure it shattered his mother's mind. She was never the same afterward, and only a few short weeks later, she committed suicide, taking her own life and departing from the wretched earth. Ichirou blamed himself, as did his father. The man was incensed with his son, asking him why he couldn't have held his tongue and been fine with the way things were? Why couldn't have have managed? The grandparents merely chastised their son for delivering such blame, and tried to console their beloved grandson, but it was of no use. No matter where Ichirou went and fled or stayed, the haunting memories of his mother were everywhere at the Sohma estate. The young man, not even yet eighteen left the main house, and sought his own place. With his savings, he managed to rent a condo on the other side of town, still close enough in proximity to be reached as he worked. his grandparents, troubled as they were with him leaving allowed him to have his freedom, and when he became legal, he bought his own small home up in the mountains close by. he was never too far, as he was certain he wouldn't be allowed to live too far away, cursed as he is, but at least, he would be by himself and out of the constant scrutiny of the Sohma main estate and the horrible memories there.

Now grown, Ichirou still visits the Sohma house frequently, and whenever commanded. he visits his grandparents often, and occasionally stays a few days but much prefers the solace in his own home. He models for his wages, and although he isn't by any means famous, he does several shoots and makes a sizable income to support himself without the mass of his father's income. He still meets with his father occasionally, but prefers to stay away from his immediate family, outside command performances, his grandparents, and other Sohma members who he finds himself rather close to.
