When she said that she liked baseball Gretta smiled. "Then I guess that is something we have in common! Maybe we can play together some time." she suggested. She swore that Sally's smile became more friendly and less menacing, but she wasn't sure. When Sally asked if she went into haunted houses and abandoned mines she wanted to laugh, but something held her back. This was a serious question. "Um... Well I normally just go in the woods, but I have been in abandoned houses before. No abandoned mines, but that's just because I don't know where there are any." she said with a shrug.
When her brother came back he seemed to be exhausted. Honestly, what did he think was going to happen in the few moments that he was gone. "Good. Breathe." she said putting her hand on her brother with a smile.

Breathe?! BREATHE?!
He shot her a glare.
Here he was concerned about her safety and all she could do was tell him to BREATHE?!
Well fine. He was BREATHING. He caught his BREATH.
"Yeah. We're regular explorers"
He'd managed to catch the tail end of the conversation, but he put so much aloof hostility into the statement that it felt off putting.
He didn't like her. She wasn't welcome to join them in thier explorations.
That was a thing that He and Gretta did. Nobody else.
He started taking out the Jacks.
Of course, it would be just his luck if Gretta invited the girl along. Just wonderful.

God ******** damn it what was it??!!
"Oh."
Well, woods and abandoned houses were pretty creepy too!
"We should go find one and explore it!" she said.
She suddenly realized she had used the word 'we'.
"Er..." She shrunk back a bit, blushing at her boldness, "If you want to... of course... I mean, I bet it'd be okay because I'm... practically an adult..." she didn't know what she was babbling about.
"So why do you go into hau... I mean abandoned houses?"
Her newfound energy dribbled away a bit when Han returned. Why was he scared? Why was he scared of her?
Why didn't he like her?
She didn't understand.
She felt queasy when he opened the box of jacks, but she didn't want them to think she was crazy or mean. She kept her opinions of jacks to herself.
"Do you go into caves too?"
Caves were cool. Mom had promised to take her, but then... hadn't. Sally didn't know why.
Wereloc did but wereloc was distracted trying... to remember... auuuugh!!!!

Gretta nodded, pretending to not hear the hostility in her brothers voice. When Saly said 'we' she smiled. "Yea, I'm sure my father wouldn't mind if we went exploring together. Though I don't know where we will find a mine!" she said laughing. "Well you know what you can find in abounded houses, Han and I have found many fun thing. Isn't that right Han?" she said nudging her brother. "And no I haven't gone into a cave, but that sounds like fun!" She was trying to make up for her brother's angry nature. Hopefully if she was nice enough it would make up for her brother being so mean to Sally.

"Caves are pretty! My Mom has a book full of pictures of caves! Did you know that they are formed by water? Isn't that incredible? Can you imagine water just... carving that away?" she had started to smile creepily again while she had said that. She was getting animated, sitting down to play.
She brought a claw up to her mouth and looked away shyly. She bet she had just said something wrong...
"... I like caves..."
Please... Please don't be angry... she silently begged of Gretta.
What if she was too interested in caves? What if the twins thought it was scary?
What if...?
Oh my god stop thinking about caves Wereloc snapped, You're so boring I can't believe they're still listening to you!
He went back to his ruminations.
Soccer. Soccer.
What was it?
Did it have to do with an old lover of his? Had he dated a soccer player?
"I just think that they're so neat... and dark... and pretty... and spooky... They drip, you know, and the drips echo... drip... drip... drip..." she flinched again.
"I'm.. I'm sorry..." she said, looking away.

Seriously. She was, like, twice their age.
And then she went on and on.
Caves?
What the hell?
He set up the jacks.
Okay, so caves were pretty cool. And she was into them.
Yeah. Come to think of it, they'd never gone into a cave. He decided to research it and try to sweet talk dad into letting them go see one.
Exploring caves had a special name, didn't it.
"Spelunking, right?" he said, watching her jabber.
When she said drip... drip... drip... his blood ran cold.
She was so... damn... creepy. He felt his stomach clench.
"Riiiiight. So we're playing jacks."

Gretta smiled, watching both Sally and Han. All this talk of caves made her want to see them. "Water can be prettttyy powerful." she said with a smile. It was wonderful what nature could do. And when her brother jumped into the conversation as well she smiled, maybe it was just taking him time to warm up to Sally?
"Sorry? For what? You didn't do anything wrong. I think exploring a cave would be fun, maybe I could find pretty stones." she said with a smile as she looked over at her brother. He had set up the jacks and she was happy to start playing with him and Sally.

"Sorry for being a stupid, no good, FREAK" laughed Wereloc.
Ah! There it was. It had been a lover. Of course, he had broken her heart, silly girl. And then he had harassed her, and harassed her. it didn't matter when she put up the restraining order. He'd just laid low and then blackmailed her with some lovely photos. He got her money- not that he had needed it- and then he had released the photos anyway.
Mmm... News of her suicide had been the perfect finisher.
A bribe here and there and nobody noticed or cared.
His private enjoyment.
He reminiced, cackling with glee.
Oh he missed those days.
Sally didn't want to know why her headmate was laughing. She was suddenly uncomfortable- well, more so. And... she felt wrong. So wrong.
"I... uh... Well Its just that..." she looked away, "Sometimes I say things, and sometimes people aren't happy about what I say... They get unnerved..." She blinked, "You... you mean... you weren't creeped out by me? Saying Drip-drip-drip?"
