(prepare your selves for a wall o text)

I am on the quest to find a new job! I love my current co-workers but I hate the clique/popularity contest that is our management system at Target.
As well I am so tired of feeling demeaned/unappreciated by my direct managers and given a floaty schedule that mostly makes me work the middle of the day when I have asked specifically for morning shifts.

They or one manager in particular continues to demean and attack me on a constant basis. She has attacked me relentlessly about me calling out sick, even though it was legitimate and proven by a doctor notes. (I didn't know employers want their employees to come in when they are ill.) and have made me feel like a rather shitty employee when I don't push their credit cards successfully by saying I don't make the customer experience more personal. (even though I ask every one if they want a target red card and have a 'personalized' conversation with them based on what is deemed socially appropriate for a stranger to talk about with a customer.) And after every one of these 'warnings' or attacks made by this particular manager, there has always been the hint that if I didn't hypothetically step up my swagger, I'd be fired based on illegitimate reasons. Such as not garnering enough red cards or being ill.

Honestly I thought my job was to provide a quick and friendly check out service, not to shove credit cards down people's gullets and make them feel uncomfortable with me.

I have talked to human resources about this issue I have been having with this particular manager and about my back being crunched by repetitive movements or just stating still in one spot. And how it would be better if I was reassigned to a different department, where this manager was not my manager and I could have more movement. Since the sales floor managers seemed to have wanted me working for them because I did my job thoroughly and fast. However HR thought it would be better if I stayed up in the front with these managers, but cross trained in other departments like guest service and/or starbucks. And only backed up as a cashier.

Nope, they forgot about my back problem and my issue with a particular manager as fast as lickity split. And I feel awfully particular about reminding people on how to do their job and reminding them about their cashier's nuances such as a hurt back. And if I reminded them, they probably would forget time and time again until I either gave up and/or quit. Quintessentially a never ending battle that is exhausting and rather trival.

there probably other issues I have with them as an employer and how eerily similar they are becoming with wally werld. (walmart)

So I have decided, instead of continuing to fight a loosing battle with this place, it is time for a new job. So when I start actually looking for a new job most places around me are not even hiring, and if they are they are either 15 to 20 miles away and/or I have to fill out the 100 most redundant questions about my work ethic. I have been employed by one business for more than a year, I am pretty sure that is proof of my working ethic. Despite what my current employers may say about me.

But it is so discouraging to look for a new job when no one is actively hiring, they are only looking for seasonal or when their application process is long

Man, it really sucks having to cope with work and an injury at the same time. I've been through the same thing so I can understand. I hope that things get better for you and good luck with the job hunt.

Finding a good place to work is difficult. There is always one thing keeping a lot of places from being an ideal workplace, which sucks. You'd think a business transaction such as the exchange of your labor for their money would call for some common decency for all parties involved, but when it's one person versus a corporation, it somehow becomes okay to abuse your workers.

Here's to hoping you find the place that best fits you and your qualifications. Luck for your job hunt.
