 Today was the first day of Ruse's three-day break from work- the only one she would allow herself this month, she had promised herself. She had done exceptionally well this past week- a total of ten dresses and two suits done and paid for- and decided to reward herself with a trip out to the woods. She had stopped by her brother's stables, talked to him for an hour or so, and then claimed one of his gentler geldings to take for a nice ride. She knew the beast well, and he knew her weakness of sight, and was always careful to steer her clear of danger. She had been told he was a lovely black beast with a white mane and took well to the sidesaddle, and she appreciated his kind demeanor towards her.
"Come on, Shadow, my sweet... why don't you take us into the woods, to that sweet meadow we both know you love so much..." Ruse grinned gently, leaning forward over the arch of his strong neck, and he seemed to understand, for he lengthened his steps, and turned them both towards the woods, plunging in with Ruse leaning to keep her balance and safe from low-hanging branches.
Soon enough, the geld slowed, and then lowered his forelegs, tucking one under his great chest and then waiting patiently while Ruse freed herself from her sidesaddle, and slid down, patting her dress into place and checking her hat, with its long, tickly feathers, and kissing his cheek when he nudged her. "Thank you, sweets... have a sugar lump... and don't wander too far, I'm just going to take in the warmth and quiet for a while..." she murmured. The horse nickered, and nibbled at the sugar cube when she lifted her flat palm up with it, and then wandered away quietly.

He'd been out in the woods for awhile, relaxing while Calvin was busy writing. As much as he enjoyed pestering the ever so delightful author, he knew when someone was trying to get business done, that it was best to leave them be. After all, he wouldn't enjoy it if someone barged in on one of his hits. That would prove meddlesome, though.. it had happened before. And an extra body had been slaughtered that night. A cynical grin, feline like, curled on his tanned lips in amusement. What a great assignment that had been.
Laying back underneath one of the large elms that overhung in the vast forest, Yusri rested in a leisurely manner. Surrounding him were cats of all sorts, colours, breeds, and ages, most curled up and sleeping, others up in the tree's, or stalking about, and grooming. They were a miniature pack, the lot of them, a few crawling onto the assassins chest or stomach to curl up and sleep. One nuzzled up against the crook of Yusri's neck, making the man chuckle deeply, a hand lifting to rub at the scruff of the younger felines neck. A purr was his reward, as the tiny furry thing pressed its cheek to Yusri's, climbing into the oversized hood to take further refuge. This was the life~ The sun was warm, and felt great for just such an activity. Sun-bathing was divine after all.
However... one of his sharp eyes peeled open slowly as he heard somewhat distant, but nearby, hoof steps. They were heavy, so certainly a horses. A few of the cats lifted their heads to look in the direction that now had a woman walking along through the towering tree's, a cream brow lifting curiously. Huh. And here he thought he was going to get some solitude. No matter. The assassin made no motion to get up though, and instead decided to observe this lady, along with his cats.
