Quelos'nira Clan
Inspiration drawn from the legends of the Tuatha Dé Danann, 'His Dark Materials', 'Mists of Avalon' and other sources.

One of the clans that was once closely bound to the courts of the fae. They are mostly human now, though at the beginning that was not the case. Most of the clan members can trace their ancestory back to one who is fae born, or at the very least fae blooded. Ties were renewed generations later in exchange for access to greater magic to augment the power that dwindled as the fae blood thinned. They were taught how to call and bond animal spirits to serve as companions and familiars. The power the animals granted was based on the form they took- often if a bonded clan member was capable of magic the bonded would take a shape that augmented it, if not then there was the potential for new abilities to surface.

The practice of bonding spirits has continued until present day but the reason behind it has changed- it is more for the sake of tradition rather than power. Bonded spirits take the shape of animals that suit the one they are bonded to- they serve to balance out the clan member's personality. A spirits form generally is not settled until adulthood; the creature shifts between a handful of shapes depending on moods. The spirits themselves have no physical gender, but usually they refer to themselves as the opposite gender of the one they are bonded to. (Though from time to time there have been same gender pairs- it is extremely rare, usually only one or two per generation.)

Homeland
The villages of the Quelos'nira are not far from fae lands, or the great labyrinth, but they have not dared ventured into either place in many generations. They do what they can to live in harmony with their surroundings. Houses are built primarily from stones and clay brick with thatched roofs. The houses are collected in small clusters, surrounded by bits of land tilled for farming and small fields for livestock.

Social Structure
Villages are ruled over by a male chieftan (or the first daughter's husband if the former chieftan had no sons) as well as a council made up of both men and women. Usually the council is made up of both the old and the young- the high priest and priestess as well as the village guardian and healer. Decisions are discussed by all and voted on, but ultimately the chieftan has the final decision.

Language
Most speak what has become the common tongue of Gaia- perhaps with little bits of Elven and other languages mixed in. Some of the elders still speak the ancient language of the fae.

Festival Days
??? - Fall Equinox - The start of a new year. Honoring those who have passed and looking toward the future.
??? - Winter Solstice - The festival of the cold months to warm the hearts of the clan members.
??? - Spring Equinox - The festival to celebrate the return of light and life to the world.
??? - Summer Solstice - The festival of fertility of both of both the land and its people.
??? - Midsummer - The last day of the harvest to be enjoyed by all.

Notable Customs
- Bonded Spirits- At each new birth the high priestess bonds a spirit animal to the child.
- Runic Tattoos- Traditional markings given to the priests and priestesses.

Spirit Animals
The shapes of bonded companions are not entirely unique, though there are some types that are more rare than others- smaller animals, such as rodents or birds, are most common; larger animals, and predators, are generally representative of those with stronger personalities. Animals are almost always mundane, though magical creatures are possible.

Magic
- The high priest and priestess are said to blessed with magic by the god and goddess they serve- there is some truth to this for they command powers that few can.
- Often the healer is capable of some small magic to work in addition with herbs and other healing components.
- There are few true mages within the clan, it is usually connected to those with the strongest fae blood.
