Revrend wondered faintly if she greeted most of the new guards because she and Resk would be unlikely to run them off. Her long hair had been combed and pinned back with a dark polished wooden clip with the motif of bird of paradise flowers. Her clothing was a dark purple tunic, sleeveless and embroidered at the helm and throat and a pair of dark subtle leather pants. The thin woman sighed, waiting at the entrance of the walls, breathing in the wet scent of jungle and wishing Stella would bring more than a half dozen arrows and a knife when she hunted.

Her bronze wher settled nearby, hide nearly glistening in color. A tad small for a bronze but with a more agile if longish frame, Resk yawned widely, show a maw of sharp white teeth and dragged furrows in the ground as they waited.

Dino and Disk trudged through the thick jungle climate. They’d been let off a little way’s back. It didn’t look very far from there, so when asked, ‘do you want us to take you up to the gate?’, he’d replied with a polite ‘I can walk, thanks'. Turns out what might not be far in a normal climate can seem like miles in the oppressive humidity. Disk, on the other hand, was doing fine. His curious blue eyes darted all about, until finally they found Dino again, and for the fifth time look up and asked him: Where are we going?

Dino smiled. When it came to Disk, he was infinitely patient. And besides, he didn't mind telling him again. "The new Weyr, remember, Disk? We’re going to work at a new Weyr."
Disk paused to think about it, and then answered honestly. No! He gave a mental shake of his head. Uh-uh! But the tone of his voice was pleasant, excited. He looked around again. New Weyr. He repeated. New friends, maybe?
"Maybe." Dino said, optimistically.

By now, they could see the tall walls of the prison looming, and by its front gate, he could just make out the figure of a person waiting next to what had to be another wher. Dino rubbed his hands on his road-dirty clothes nervously.
"Alright, there they are. Just, ah, try to look.." Dino glanced down to see Disk's puppyish face staring back at him with an innocent look of childish excitement. "..not quite so adorable." he finished, nudging his wher's forehead.
Yes. Disk remembers. he said, nuzzling back into his companion's hand Look fierce. Frighten many. No frightened, no job.
"Good boy!" Dino said proudly. "But don’t sweat it too much today, it looks like it’s just another wher and their handler here to meet us.."
Another wher?!

Before Dino could stop him, or even curse himself for bringing that up, Disk had set off running for where the distant pair stood waiting by the wall. By the time he got there, he was going so fast he dug trenches into the ground with his claws when he tried to stop.

Hello, new wher. Who are you? I am Disk. It's nice to see you. How are you? Who's this? he said, looking at Reverend. It's nice to see her too!
"Uh, sorry!" Dino said when he had caught up, out of breath from trying to keep up with his massive muscular companion. "He's a little talkative. Sorry." he held out his hand. "I'm Dino, the new guard. And this is Disk. Nice to meet you."

Revrend picked out the pair a distance away and lift a brow as the wher, there was no confusing that gait, suddenly shot away from his handler towards her and Resk. She shifted slightly, reading the body language as play instead of hostile but playful or not, that was a lot of muscular beast racing towards them.

Resk grumbled slightly, shifting up and trotted smoothly to her side and cocked his head. The shiny bronze snorted and shifted to stand in front of his bonded, calmly planting his rear in the dirt and snorted at the loud question in his mind. 'Disk, I am Resk.' The bronze calmly looked over the other, younger bronze. 'This is mine.' He nuzzled Revrend and pressed into her hand, pleased when she started to scratch.

"Revrend, Rev is perfectly fine, hun." She smiled and took the offered hand after a bit of awkward shifting so she could continue to scratch the smug wher under her hand and shake the kid's hand. "This mountain is Resk, and we'll start by showing you where to stowed your things and where Disk will be sleeping." Rev pushed against Resk and motioned Dino to follow her into the prison. "Welcome to Warden's."

"Rev, sure.." he said, taking a few more breaths before he had caught his. He shook her hand and smiled. "Great! Sounds good." he said, shifting the bag he had slung over his shoulder. Disk would be holding some too, but the hyperactive brute moved around so much they always fell off, leaving his tiny partner to do all the heavy lifting. Fortunately, Dino didn't have many things.

Disk looked at Reverend and made a proud sound of understanding, indicating he'd guessed as much and was pleased with himself for it. Disk regarded Resk carefully, trying to gauge whether he was annoyed by Disk's questioning or not. But unfortunately, Disk was never a good judge of emotion in anyone but Dino, so he plowed on regardless: She looks nice. You as well. Have you been here long? He lifted his eyes to the tall walls, imagining what lay within.

He glanced at Dino who was waving a hand at him behind his back, telling him to leave off bothering the poor older bronze. Disk gave a disappointed snort, but trotted over to Dino's side as they followed Reverend into the prison.

Resk gave a slight irritable sound but started to walk towards his den. He wanted to be scratched more and he had been enjoying lazing and generally absorbing warmth. 'She is nice.' His was wonderful and the bronze preened at the observation as if he was the reason Rev was so great. 'Not long... longish but this is not where I was clutch.' Resk hummed. 'Good place, lots of meat, room, mates.' Resk eyed the other bronze and rumbled.

"Don't mind Resk to much, he flirts with everything." Revrend shook her head and started for the wher barracks. "We have our own place, a bit away from the dragons. How well behaved is Disk around other whers?" She questioned.

Disk rumbled pleasantly at Resk's reply. Meat, room, mates.. sounds good! He threw a sharp look at Dino to say, 'see, I wasn't bothering him!', but remained by his side, and resisted asking any more questions. "Oh no," Dino said, waving a hand at Rev's comment. "I'm just worried Disk was pestering him. He can be a little bit chatty, at times."

"Well behaved, well.." he looked at Disk, considering how to respond. It wasn't that he was badly behaved. Just a little.. overfriendly, at times. "He always gets on well with other whers." Dino offered. It wasn't quite an answer to the question, but would hopefully circumvent the issue. "He's never caused any real trouble." he could add, because that too, was true.

I will! I will behave. If you want me to. Disk insisted. Catch the prison things. Put on angry faces. I know how to behave. I have done it before.
And at least try to act like a normal wher? You know- hunt, kill, aggression- all that?
Of that, Disk seemed less sure. He looked away, uninterested. I can try.

Rev looked back, walking casually backwards, she knew the way by heart. She looked over the boy and the wher and gave a soft chuckle. "He doesn't have to be mean." She gave a neat about twist and motioned to her own Bronze. "Resk would rather herd prisoners then take a bite out of them. He has the advantage of size, speed, and being able to show a good amount of sharp teeth."

"Now, my wife. Stella's wher is a predatory aggressive little thing and will challenge your Disk to a fight," Rev warned, motioning Dino to keep close as she headed to the entrance of the wher barracks. "Stelask like to challenge and see where they stand. Probably to see if they are worthy to mate her when she runs."

Resk gave a warm rumble, perking up at the smell of den and other whers. 'Stelask is my younger sister, clutched after.' He couldn't remember how long after, or how many siblings he had. He breath deep, filtering and rumbled, disappointed. 'She is not here.'

"Thankfully they are both at work... So how does Disk handle females? I'm trying to figure out where to put you both for now."

Dino shrugged. "Some Holds expect whers to be like that. Most of them are. Just not Disk. I think he'd rather play with the prisoners than prey on them." Of course, no one really wanted to be involved in Disk's kind of 'play'; one is never guaranteed to have the same number of limbs coming out as going in.

"Disk in a fight?" Dino laughed. "I think he'd sooner talk her to death." Dino ran several steps between strides to keep up with her walk. "But I guess if I told him it's a game.." It wouldn't do for them to think Disk wasn't 'worthy'.

Disk's eyes swirled in disappointment as he looked around the barracks. He huffed out a breath with a heavy air of sadness on it. 'Too bad. I wanted to meet her. It's so good to meet other whers.'

"Oh, he's fine with all that. Likes them, flirts with them, chases them when he can. But he's never possessive or territorial about it at all. He shouldn't ruffle any feathers."

Playing often was the same to prisoners as hunting. Revrend nodded, recalling the empty wher dens and rooms. She listened carefully, nodding at the right times. Disk should be a good addition to Wardens. "All of that is good. I think I have a den in mind for you and Disk." It should be a good fit.

Revrend stepped into a empty den, walking over the sand and opened a door. "It is relatively basic room. Just a bed, a chest, and a table and single chair but we get enough trade caravans in you can batter for anything else you need." She motioned Dino to look around. "The neighbor closest to you is single, so you won't be hearing any funny business."

"The door does lock, but the key is in the office. Remind me to give it to you. I show you where the scheduling for patrols is kept next. Unless you want some time to unpack?"
