He was stuck. Hopelessly and utterly stuck.
Now in the early hours of sunrise, he could properly see his predicament - though it did little to comfort him or give a solution. Cursing under his breath he shifted, hearing again the menacing creak under him.
The fighter had foolishly gotten himself stuck up a tree near the outskirts of down. Nearby he could see a building, but with its ledge out of jumping distance he remained as he had since before the sun had rose. He sighed and leaned his head against the trunk of the tree, glaring back down at the absence of reliable branches under him to get himself down. He was at least ten feet up, maybe more - not a decent height to jump from and no hope of escaping unharmed.
It had started innocently enough in the darkness of the morning hours when the overzealous Noble had climbed the tree in hopes of catching some intel from a passing Legion squadron. The branch he had originally picked had broken the moment he'd gotten to it and he had sat precariously trying not to fall in the midst of a legion squadron. They'd been long gone for a long time but with each movement he could feel the new branch breaking under the weight.
With a frantic look he glanced around. No one had been by in hours. As embarrassing as it was he did need to get home. With a whistle he hoped someone would hear him.
But who it would be he'd have no clue.

"Okay, thank you! See you when I get back!" Nivy called as she closed the gates to the Mahua Estates. Some of the hands that helped in the green houses lived on the property. Nivritti didn't mind it since her parents left, it kept her from getting to lonely.
Heaving the basket with flowers and the small amount of produce onto her back she headed off down the road. Any day now she should be getting her acceptance into the Academy and life would change and for the better. But until then she had to make do.
Glancing at the sun she realized she was running a little behind schedule and she picked up the pace in a jog. As she pasted by a street she almost missed the sound... A whistle. The street didn't usually have any kind of activity. She sighed thinking it was probably just a pervert who needed to be put in his place. But then when she listened more it wasn't a cat call. It was like someone calling to a pet or something. Maybe the old lady lost her cat again.
The old lady was nice and Nivy wouldn't want her to get hurt so she turned down the street and looked around for her. However what she found wasn't what she was expecting. There was a young boy up in a tree.
"Are you the one whistling?" It was a dumb question of course it was. But maybe she could pull out of him -why- he was doing that. Maybe he was into birds or something.

The footsteps had come closer and Cais begrudgingly caught sight of a young girl. Well at least its not a Legion Captain... Though to be rescued by a girl wasn't much better. He grimaced and clutched tightly to the trunk. "Yes it was me!" He called out, looking back down at her.
What would he say? Cais couldn't give the true reason he'd ended up in the tree - he was going to have a hard enough time to swallow his pride enough to ask for help let alone admit his mistake. Grunting, he carefully moved his body to get a better look at her. A moment of silence passed before he sighed.
"Look, I'd rather not get into the why, but is there any way you might get me a ladder? Or a rope... or... something which could assist me down?"
He tried his best to avoid the word "help" but still frowned regardless. It was utter humiliation for the young fighter to have gotten himself into such a predicament. Cais wondered if he had come off too forward.
"If you can, I mean." That didn't sound much better.

Nivritti raised a brow at him, before she placed the back from her back on the ground. She knew if she commented on jumping she might get a funny look she knew her hobby might be strange so she tended to keep it to herself. But the boy seemed healthy and strong... "How long have you been up there?"
She brushed her purple hair from her shoulders and bent over to dig into the basket pulling out a length of rope. She almost didn't take it today but thought it was better safe then sorry. Sometimes she had to use the room on the cart to keep the flowers from falling over. Her fingers grasping the rope she tugged it out careful of the flowers.
She walked over to the tree noting the broken branch. "Yeah, I wish the old lady would put up a sign. I got stuck in this tree when I was a little kid and it wasn't very strong then." She pulled her arm back and underhandedly tossed him the rope.
"Don't tie it to tight, I need that rope back." She took a couple steps back and began musing over why he was up there and in all of places. He was pretty lucky she was on her way. No one really comes around here. Once in a very great while she'd see some Legion soldiers gathering. But it was so far and few between she didn't really think of it again.

Cais swallowed. "A uh, while." He said, watching her carefully. If not for the situation with the tree in itself he could have jumped happily to see the sight of the rope. He almost moved into a smile before feeling the tree crack precariously again. "Ughhh."
Reaching out he managed to grab the rope as she threw it, happily taking it up into the tree with him. "A sign could help." Cais sighed, though doubted even if he'd seen a sign that it would have stopped him. Taking the rope around a short branch he managed to tie it somewhat loosely, taking the end of it and looking down.
"I'll try my best." He said, staring back at the rope before beginning a descent. It was quick and he finally managed to get back on the ground, pulling the rope hard enough so it fell. "Ooof." He said, cracking his back and stretching out. "Thanks." He muttered, looking back at the tree with a growl.
Blinking, he finally got a better look at the girl, tilting his head a bit. Be nice. He thought to himself, stretching his arm across his chest. "So uh... is there some way I can repay you then?" He was utterly terrible at things like this and grinned in a stupid, nervous fashion.
Maybe it was just the exhaustion of getting stuck up a tree.

The girl watched him as he worked his way down the tree. When he tugged the rope down, she shifted her weight. “Well, I would ask you to carry that basket for me to the market place. But you look like you might fall on your face asleep or something. You got lucky, not many others really travel down this way.” She raised her hand out to him to take the rope back.
Once he handed her the rope she turned and went to put it back in her basket. “Although…” She turned on her heel her skirt flowing out around her ankles. The sun caught the skirt and the gems and sequins sparkled. “You can let me get you something to eat once we get into town. How about that?” It was probably a long shot. The boy seemed a bit uneasy around her as it was… Chewing on her lower lip she had to wonder if she had really gotten that socially awkward. Nivritti was born and raised in this town, but she had pretty much no friends, the people that helped out on the estate could only count so much.
He looked like he was at least of age for the academy.. Maybe he was student and she could ask him some questions about it since she was hoping to be accepted soon.

"I guess it was lucky then." Cais said, looking back to where he'd been stuck with a hint of anger. Shaking it off he blinked, looking back to her again. Before he could answer there was a rumbling in his stomach which shook his body. "Ehe." There was a nervous laugh before jabbing at the noisy part of his body with a hand.
There was the slightest bit of embarrassment visible on his face and he nodded. "I can handle the basket, I'd feel bad for letting you get me something and doing nothing in return." Grabbing it with a hand he picked it up with some easy. "See, just fine." He felt himself teeter a bit on balance but caught it quickly enough.
He began to walk slowly, keeping her near him as they began the journey back into town. Cais yawned, looking back to his companion with some wariness still visible in his eyes. "So I um, didn't catch your name... I wanted to thank you again for the help."

Nivy watched him crossing her arms under her breast. He seemed like he might be okay and he still offered to carry the basket. She wasn't to interested in turning the offer down but she kept an eye on him. "Well, someone agrees with food." She laughed lightly, letting her arms fall to her sides again and missing him teetering when he lifted the basket.
"I guess when you're young you bounce back easier." It was more of a general comment. She had seen her aging parents and they took much longer to heal or get healthy then she did. She then started to wonder what would be a good place to eat at. She wasn't one to go out very often and was now suddenly a bit worried that she might take him to a bad place...
Name... She almost missed the question. "Oh! My name is Nivritti, Nivy for short. " She glanced over at him and smiled. She watched the sun catch his hair and she admired the coloring. "And what is your name?" Nivy was still a young adult, young at 19. But she didn't often to do the same things a 19 year old might do, since she was running the shop for her parents.

"When you're young and hungry." He added. His stomach couldn't agree more and growled louder. "Oye." Cais said with a sigh, staring at the road ahead of them going into the city. What sounded good? Noodles? Fish? Rice? Nearly drooling at the thought he had to look back at her to settle his mind somewhere away from food.
"Nivvy huh? Sounds nice." He said thoughtfully. Cais got lost for a moment, noticing a few more souls on the road as they approached slowly. I really hope I don't run into anyone who could cause trouble. Not that it was likely to be attacked, he just wouldn't know what to do if any certain members of the Legion popped up now. He had enough trouble from them.
"Huh, what?" His head turned back to her. "Oh, I'm Cais." He said with a nod. Normally he'd be more formal, giving his family name as well - but with more souls popping up he didn't need it getting back to anywhere that he had been out there to begin with.
"So, what kind of food are you interested in?" He asked, his stomach churning at the torturous idea of thinking about it again. Better that than worrying himself sick though - or so his head agreed with him.

It wasn't hard for the young woman to notice that the male was keeping an eye out. It really wasn't her to business to ask why. It could be any number of things, he himself could be some kind of a bad person... Though the vibe he gave off was far from it. But Nivy decided to let the thought drop there. She wasn't very good with trying to interpret others.
"Well, there are some small but well known places around here... So it's really up to you. I could probably eat almost anything." She tapped her cheek lightly. Nivritti certainly liked her food, and it was somewhat amazing that the girl wasn't the size of a cow. Her work kept her in good shape.
"Actually, now that I think about it, once we get into the town, if we take a left there's a place there. They have a little bit of everything. I think that'll be suitable for two can't make up their minds." She laughed lightly before waving to someone that had waved at her.
It didn't take much longer after that for them to get into the town and she lead him off to the left to the restaurant. The town itself was much busier then the road they were on. The shop keepers were starting to open up and clean off their stoops. "We might be the first ones here today."

He found himself more involved with his company as the moments ticked by. In his exhausted state he felt his feet dragging under him but remained the course. His bright eyes were settled on Nivritti but his stomach wailed angrily under the distress of talking of food. "I think that sounds wonderful." He muttered with a wince as it seemed his intestines did a back-flip in anticipation.
Cais wondered about the place she was talking about. This was all unfamiliar territory, especially in the daytime. It was not his normal stomping grounds in the least bit but he walked on as tall as possible to not show his reservations about it. When nothing came as they continued he calmed and nearly began to drool at the sight of the shop keep flip over his open sign.
Only one impulse was moving him and that was hunger, though he did flash an appreciated look her way after taking his seat and setting her basket down next to the chair at his side. He felt his body slump over the counter and he looked at her, somewhat pathetically. "Just anything please, I don't think I can lift myself." He muttered again with a slight red pigment coming to his cheeks.
