Though his blood hadn't started to boil with adrenaline quite yet, the young Lunarian still looked on with anticipation as his opponent finally appeared. He gripped tightly to his gauntlets, staring down into his reflection in the blades with a smile. Something had stirred in him ever since he had entered the arena, it was something with purpose. It was a rarity that he, the volcano of emotion, was so poised and for the first time in a good long time, calm.
His eyes flicked back towards the opponent as his demeanor -what could have been seen as a nice, quiet lunarian - to melt immediately as his grin widened and he moved back into an offensive stance.
Control it, don't let it control you. The words came echoing back from an old encounter with a supposed wise man. Cais gnashed his teeth. "Got it." He muttered, taking in a deep breath. The moment before the loud gong went off he could feel it, that same boiling of the blood.
They won't have the satisfaction, not this time.
As the sound erupted, he was off, blades out and aiming for blood.

Cais' competitor was a reed of a woman, preoccupied dragging her fingers slowly and gently through her ankle-length black hair. With big, luminous eyes she stared at the young man, before flashing him a smile. Her name was Hea Jung, and she had no weapon with her: only a series of leather and metal pouches attached to a sash and rope around her waist.
Hea Jung had all the weapons she would ever need right in those pouches. A series of powders applied by Hae Jung's gloved, tiny scale-mail covered hands could do anything from drowsiness, to poison, to a burning sensation, to hallucinations. It was a complicated fighting style, however, and she was only resistant to a few of the types-- immune to none.
And Hea Jung was young. Dangerous, but young. She smiled openly at the young man whom she now faced. "You're cute," she said, giggling. "Are you sure you want to hurt me? I'd rather have a mochi together!"

His eye twitched and he halted the advance with a glare. "Really?" He muttered to himself, moving back down. One of these types. There was a pause as his bright eyes met hers and he grunted. "Maybe..." He said, sharply.
"If you can win."
Cais was off again and lunged at her, blades pointed out, swiping as quickly as he could. She was a lot faster than she looked, which he figured out immediately and twirled back to try another strike.
It was a surge, a huge surge of emotion, adrenaline... near blood-lust. He licked his lips and his eyes seemed to darken in focus. She was annoying just watching her made his blood boil. She's wasting my time. he thought, staring with a hateful look before erupting. "Come on!" He shouted from deep within his chest, slicing at her face with a quick jab.

"Oooh, you're smart, be careful or I'll actually like you," she retorted, her doe-eyed look suddenly collapsing in on itself as she revealed a smile far too predatory to belong to the adorable long-haired girl just moments ago. It was as if she became another person on command. "I plan to win!" she added, darting back and avoiding the blow. The blades, however, appeared to skim her long hair and slice off a small bit.
"You don't like my hair?" she pouted, looking innocent again. Her ploy was interrupted by Cais' strike towards her face, though, and she yelped and jumped back, having foolishly tried to shield herself with her armoured hands. Although the blades did no slicing damage where the mail protected them, her palms felt like they were being shattered, and the sheer force knocked back so that the blade raked her cheek.
Hea Jung whimpered, feeling the blood drip onto her fingers. Her eyes welled up. "I hate you! You and everything you stand for, stupid boy!" she yelled, opening one pouch and throwing a black powder at Cais.

It wasn't enough and the young fighter pulled back. "Tougher than you look, I'll give you that." He was clearly irritated at the lack of a proper strike. Let`s remedy that, shall we? His look seemed almost crazed in a way before leaping back at her with what he attempted as a painful blow.
Talking had disrupted him before but now he was back on his game... for a moment. "What I stand for?" He growled, grabbing her collar and shaking her as hard as he could. "You don't know a damn thing about what I stand for!" And how could you? He thought as his eyes seemed to redden as his anger took hold of him.
With not a word he shoved her forward. Now! The voice called within. Leaping back into her at full force, he held his arm out, aiming for a very specific spot.
But I'll make sure you remember...

At first, Hae Jung was about to yell something back about how she didn't need to know what he stood for, she could smell it on him: the stench of desperation. Pathetic! But she was interrupted in her fury when Cais grabbed her, and shook. She raised both hands, grasping desperately at his wrists and trying to pry him off.
All of Hae Jung's skills required that she not be so close to an opponent, because she had pretty much no physical strength with which to defend herself. It all came down to her powders. And they weren't going to work if she couldn't even get them out of the pouches.
It was at about this point that Hae Jung began to cry: not loud, messy, dramatic tears; the kind of tears that streamed down her face silently, tears that channelled her rage and made her quiver with anger as he leapt at her. "One day you'll suffer for this," she blurted out with her last moments of consciousness.
It didn't take a lot to knock Hae Jung out. One solid blow, and she was adrift in a sea of black.

It wasn't so much a blow with the bladed edges of his gauntlets but rather a smashing into the side of her temple with the hardened topside which made her go limp. A few panting breaths left him and he stared down at her, not even aware if anyone clapped for him or not. "We'll see." He said under his breath, glaring at a nearby official as it was called.
Turning from the fighting area he hopped off, staring aimlessly into the sky with a satisfied grin on his face. Even if he lost every other match, as least he had beaten her. Someone like that doesn't know anything about duty. He thought to himself - whether the words were true or not remained to be seen, but he had completed a small victory.
Most battles he lost or ended up out cold, alive yes but his spirit diminished. Now was the time to change that luck, to change himself. A small laugh escaped his lips as he moved further from the arena.
Who will be next?
