"Ugh," Oliver sighed, rolled his eyes and tipped his head back, chewing his lower lip slightly. "So, talking let see... I guess from the beginning." Which would be, yes. "So, I was born when 'dust turned illegal but turning things illegal just makes people crave it more. I'm sure you know that already, it makes it more of a thrill. I think my father was educated, I have a memory of him doing some sort of trade." He couldn't remember what, that time was hazy. "But by the time I was six or so, whatever work he had had either dried out, or the foreman, master, found out he was a duster and fired him."

"Should I pause, let you get record things or do you just really want me to talk?" Oliver questioned, looking at Jessan. "You probably have a clear memory then I do about that time in history."

Jessan ticked off her list in her head, hands once more in her lap, fingers laced in silence.

Argumentative, willfully ignorant, unwilling to accept assistance.

She had a few more ideas but that, she decided, would wait for further conversation. Instead she watched his face and listened to his tone more than his actual words. She caught the part where he insinuated she was old (true, since she was at least six years older than the prisoner) but otherwise she was contented with life. Being 32 didn't bother her; at least she'd never ended up in prison.

"What is your relationship like with your brother? I've been told he is here as well." Her eyebrows quirked. "And no worries, I have an excellent memory."

Caught off guard, Oliver managed to reply "Good," before strangling off the sentence. Crackskull. He thought and sat up tensely, alert and uneasy at the sudden topic change. Sudden topic changes did not end up well... not usually. "Why?" He questioned, lips pressed tight and coiling up, defensive posture on the verge of possible offensive.

Could this lady dig herself any deeper into a pit? He was wrong at the voice, not overly sweet but the general unmoving pleasantness grated. The words were condescending at times... actually, they started out condescending. She had no reason to tell the guards off, unless she wanted to attempt a separation of I'm not like them. And that smile, it never wavered and it crept him out. And now he was talking, like she asked and she sharding changed the question?

"I think I'll like to return to my cell," he managed to get out, keeping his voice calm but firm. Being out of his cell for half a candle mark wasn't worth this.

"I've been told you two are... close. Interestingly so." Her eyebrows rose again. No insinuation rested in her tone, nothing to give away the possibility of an innocent inquiry. "No real reason. We were discussing your past and history, he seems to be a significant figure."

Oh, but he wanted to leave. Poor darling dear, scooting like a scared rabbit back to the cell near to his brothers. She stood smoothly and nodded, moving to the doors to fetch the guards.

"Would you prefer for me to set up an appointment with a different mindhealer?"

Oliver snorted slightly, watching her leave. If she had let him talk, he would have gotten to his sibling soon enough. He was nearly eleven when half pint had been born; shaffit, couldn't she wait a bit? He really hated to leave on such a note. Why did he have to be so defensive? Think of something!

"Perhaps we should try a other session when I'm not cranky from caffeine withdrawal." Oliver missed tea, the taste, the warmth, the buzz that kept him moving and focus during a long day. It also made a very good thing to blame at the moment.

Shafting lack of tea.
