"I..i don't know, i've never really done my hair, beyond tying it back i mean" Well there was one time but that was something she didn't want to talk about. "As long as my master doesn't come after me... why not!" she added brightly, she didn't know where the sudden burst of energy and happiness came from at first but she looked over at the pot Happy was busy screeching happily over and she guessed "They're so cute.. i'm surprised your Green had the sense not to hide them, you're lucky" she said kindly.

"She is lucky I didn't break one of them when waking up this morning. She had them on my bed." Mari opened up a small bag and spilled a few dozen ribbons on the floor. She scooped her skirts under her and sat down, looking over them and picked the one she wanted. Humming, she stuffed the rest back into the bag and walked over to the pot. "They are lovely aren't they?" She picked up her brush from the chest and sat on her bed, tapping her brush against the bare mattress. "Sit down so I can do something with your hair."

Becka chuckled "Well not even Gold flits are all that sensible sometimes" she observed "She could have hidden them in a hearth or something, so i'd say you're lucky" she watched as Mari picked some ribbons out "They are" She blinked a couple of times at her when she tapped the brush on her matress "oh. ok" direction, someone telling her what to do, that she could do fine, she plonked herself down on the bed, watching the flits... especially Happy, in raptures at the eggs, trying not to giggle at them too much.

Pleased, Mari settled behind Becka and started brushing out her hair till it was soft and silky and workable. She hummed as she parted it, braiding the strands in a inch wide plait. "I guess I was lucky then." Mari glanced over at her little green. "They are happy aren't they?"
Sokka cooed and nuzzled against Happy. Didn't she have such pretty eggs? She craned her neck, nosing each egg as if taking count and trilled.

Becka's scalp tingled as Mari brushed her hair, the last time she remembered this happening was when she was much younger and her nursemaid used to brush her hair. It made feel Becka feel nice, it was almost relaxing to let the other girl braid her hair. "They are" she agreed, "Happy is almost always.. uh .. happy though" she chuckled.
Happy made a noise, almost like a purr as Sokka nuzzled him she had very pretty eggs yes she did wasn't Sokka a good flit yes happy happy pretty eggs.

"Sokka is between cheerful and silly." Mari gave a soft amused sound watching the flit look over the eggs and coo. "So, have you been here long?" She set the brush aside to finger comb the girl's hair. She hummed and started tugging the hair into three strands to braid. "My brothers are here as well. Do you have family around?"
Sokka rumbled deep in her throat and curled around the bronze.

Becka smiled, she knew a few completely daft and virtually untrainable flits and she'd be relieved that Happy had proved so happy, especially when praised, it had made training him easy enough and he was still fairly young. It was nice that Mari loved her flit. "About a sevenday, my master came here, so i came with him to continue my training here in a weyr rather than back at the Hall. Apparently it's easier to have 'on the job' experience here than there" she said, feeling instantly guilty about talking even slightly bad about coming to the weyr but the Hall was what she was used to.
Happy laid his head protectively across Sokka's back and churred happily.

"This must be rather different then, being so far away from the hall," Mari mused and started to braided the hair into a tight plait. "Will you be staying for the hatching then?" She questioned as her fingers weaved in and out, pulling the strands into a neat length. Sokka cooed and kept snuggled against the large bronze.

Becka would have nodded but it would have pulled at her hair "Probably, unless my master goes back to the hall, he has mentioned something about it though, more 'on-the-job' training.... hatchings are violent i've heard" she said, wondering about what she'd have to face if she was with the other healers on the hatching sands.
Happy draped a wing over the Green and closed his eyes, content for the moment.

"I've heard they are more hungry. Fire lizard hatching are horribly hungry and they can be vicious little things." Mari finished and used the ribbon to tie of the end for now. "Are you excited to see the hatching?" She started combing out the other side with her fingers.
Sokka chirred and closed her eyes, deciding to nap.
