And for the longest time, the commander was an empty vessel—doing nothing, saying nothing. Any looks or words thrown his way were ignored as he lay against the wall with the spears in his arm. But one by one his subjects left for the battlefield, just like he had told them to. One by one they were heading toward their ultimate death. He could feel Mitsu’s panda brushing against his leg, but still he didn’t move. Not even Elliot’s words broke him out of his shock, not at first.

It was the stirrings of a fight.

He heard the sergeant’s voice, but then he didn’t. This sergeant was different. He moved his head slightly to watch the fight between his officer and sergeant. Lips pressed together. No, don’t fight. He raised one arm, but remember he was trapped by the spears. Gloved hands reached for one of the spears and gripped the handle. Wilson gritted his teeth as he strained to yank it out of his arm. He would never make it in time, he knew that, but he would do something. He had to. The first spear fell to the floor with a loud ring and a small hiss from the commander. The second spear, however, did not join it. Instead he kept it gripped in his hands.

Slowly, he rose.

A whispered name. Emma. “Emmaline. Elliot,” he breathed. “I’ve been such a failure. I’m sorry a thousand times over.”

He pointed a spear to the remaining Silvers. “Do as you wish—stay or leave, join me or join another. But my first request when you first arrived still stands as long as I live—don’t harm my kingdom.” His voice was soft, weak, but his eyes glowed with calm determination.

Nkosazana had to agree with Sinclair, as unfortunate as it was.

"I don't understand what we have to fight for. We could fight, we could try to fight, but what is there after this? Is there even a future for us, in this society that screams about Legends that forget the existence of our very kingdom? It seems almost if we never mattered, that we were some big cosmic joke on the world, and maybe we should just lie down and give up right now, but that isn't what we are. We aren't the Silver Kingdom of Defeat. We aren't the Silver Kingdom of Cowards. We're the Silver Kingdom of Change, Adaptability, and Survival. And you're right, that's all we have left. Our legacy.

"Perhaps that's worth fighting for."

Something in her heart mourned when she realized that it was quite possible she would never see David again, especially now that he wasn't there. But he wouldn't want her to just lie down and give up on what they had tried so hard to maintain. And she certainly didn't want to give up, not when there were other unaligned Silvers left, or even aligned Silvers, attempting to carry the legacy of their culture into another.

But they lost so much when they converted, and the very idea of it left a bitter taste in her mouth that not even the cookie could quite mute. Their ability was adaptability, but their ability was not to give up what they were in the process. Or was it? Perhaps that was all they were ever meant for, a lost kingdom meant to be swallowed by the others as they warred over things she couldn't pretend she understood.

The White King's voice took her by surprise, but she listened, wincing at how weak he sounded. She never intended to make him hurt, and kind as she always was, she walked over, pushing the spear lightly out of her way, and offered him one of the last remaining cookies she had. "You took us in when we had nowhere to go, and I thank you for that. So long as I have control over my own facilities, no harm will befall your men from me."

And Nkosazana meant that.

The crystal met with flesh, but not Wilson's. Her eyes widened in horror as she realized the heart belonged not to Wilson, but Elliot. She immediately retracted the crystal, but it was too late, as the distortion had buried deep within Elliot's core.

A grimace crossed her face, but nothing more. Her feelings for Elliot were fake, and even if she eliminated him, it wasn't ... really him.

Anger replaced the emotion. She'd wasted time and energy now- and on what? A fake that would mean nothing? No progress of her mission.

Her head snapped back to Wilson as she heard the spear being pried out, and he addressed to Silvers. Though he told them not to harm people from his kingdom, Ami couldn't help but feel there was also a warning for her and Dakota in his tone. Still, she had to move.

"Dakota, don't let him escape!" she cried out, reaching a hand towards Wilson. They had a mission, and Wilson had to die. If he escaped, they were ******** class="quote">

"Indeed. If we must take a stand... to stand for the legacy of our kingdom is a cause well-worth the fight." His voice was stronger now, more certain than he felt. He had clung to those words, using them as fuel to drive him, but when all of his noble reasons were stripped away, all he had left was his fear that he didn't want to die.

Still, stubbornly, Sinclair didn't allow himself to think long on the possibility. The battlefield was not his specialty; he knew nothing of the heat of war. Yet he couldn't tell Zephyros and his fellow Silver that he knew they would survive without believing it, and he did, without doubt.

The commander's voice startled him. It was different than he remembered, and even with the spear pointed towards them, Sinclair didn't feel afraid. Even weakened, the man remained a king who thought foremost of his kingdom.

"And my reply still stands, commander. It would be dishonorable to go back on my word. Sir, I promise you --" He pressed a hand to his chest and lowered himself into a quick but respectful bow. "I will do no harm to you or your people. I intend to join them in the battlefield and fight beside them."

He turned to do just that, even as his heart pounded in his ears, but abruptly, painfully, remembered the boy from the marketplace and the soldiers whose names he never heard. He couldn't leave with another regret.

To the girl whose kindness extended even to offering a king cookies, Sinclair offered her a genuine smile. "On the off-chance that we don't see each other again... which, if I may so, is unlikely... My name is Sinclair." He held up a hand, a slender, long-fingered hand, and closed his fingers in a brief wave.

He waited for her name before he steeled his shoulders and tried to pretend he too was a soldier. Sinclair was an excellent performer. He was certain he could pull it off.

Nkosazana would keep her word--of that, there was no doubt. She was honest... enough. There were points where, within the Silver Kingdom, to serve her now bizarre king she had to play on the defensive side, keeping her cards close to her heart and omitting key words and phrases which might make the difference between innocent information and secrets which should not be spread, but she did not like lying. She was someone who was not outright deceptive unless the situation absolutely called for it with no other option.

And, even then, she tended to avoid such things.

She was pleased to see that the man next to her was of similar option. They wouldn't harm the White Kingdom. No matter what they did on the battlefield, they would avoid harming the White Kingdom. As they said, they couldn't kill the people who had taken them in so kindly. That was the deal.

Sinclair took it a step further and pointed out that he intended to fight alongside them. Nkosazana's personal determination was to stay alive, and she supposed if she was only not going to fight those of the White Kingdom, it made sense to align her cause with theirs, no matter how painful it might have seemed to do so. For now, White was close enough to Silver, right? And together, they would survive.

If the White Kingdom became the true kingdom, it would never be her home, but after the kindness they showed her, it would be ... acceptable. Besides, the people here were of technology and advancement she had never truly known. Perhaps it made the most sense for these men and women to become the True Kingdom, as much as she would have thought it would have been her own Kingdom.

But she had looted her own Kingdom, and saw the proof of otherwise.

When Sinclair offered a wave, she took her glove off and lifted her own hand, signs of needle pricks from knitting all over, and waved in turn. "My name is Nkosazana, and I dare to say we shall see each other again."

Hopefully, this would be over soon.

Dakota watched as another body was added to the pile of bodies of bodies. For being a dream, this place sure racked up the count for the dead.

Instead he moved slowly, trying to focus on what Ami was saying and looking at Wilson like it wasn't his best friend or brother.

That this guy was a fake cause Wilson was at home in a coma in some weird a** tube he had been sporting from the bathroom visit.

And some colored marks on his face from Ryan and Dakota's little love session.

It was moments like those that made him move just a bit slower, just a bit slower then he usually would.

Or it could be Madeline really ******** packed a punch to his motor skills.

"Don't do anything stupid Wilson."

Their words set him at ease. His shoulder relaxed—when had they stiffened up in the first?—and he carefully reached for the offered cookie. Wilson eyed the two Silvers before he walked back toward his fallen PDA. He brushed away the dust with his thumb and managed to swipe his hand across the cracked scene. “Don’t be reckless,” he murmured quietly.

He easily stepped away from Ami, ambling and turning away from his supposed sergeant. “Do you really think I’ll stay here on this ship after all that’s happened?” he asked wryly while he pocketed his PDA and scooped up the second spear. He twirled the one clasped in his right hand.

“You talk like we’re best friends.”

He hummed thoughtfully before he disappeared entirely.

Ami tried to give chase, but how did one give chase to a man who'd disappeared. She close her eyes for a moment and murmured, "less than desirable, he was the only one left on this mission. She'd need him.

"Alright, let me explain ..."

So she did, explaining what had happened to her after Madeline knocked her out, about the headset, the crystal, everything.

Dakota hissed as Wilson disappeared, adding a short. "Because we are dumbass." He looked over at Ami next and sneered. This was the most ******** up since being bait for the damn horsemen.

So instead He shoved the pair of daggers back in their sheaths and tugged on his gloves. "Finally, so I can ******** do what I need to." He listened to her intently.

Once the explanation was over though he nodded and frowned. "Alright. We need to follow him out then. I'm ready to go when you are..." Dakota hesitated, "I got your back so don't worry about being attacked so much. It'll be me just playing moon for you here like back in out world."

He wished Chama was here, the silence the pheonix's voice had was almost like a void. Especially since he was still trying to recover from the whole Madeline fiasco.

Confusion aside, he was ready.

"Let's move out Ami."

[ This post is backdated for the game thank you! ]

An android on the loose? Marosa could perhaps try for that... The Ganerie watched Sharra go, a small smile playing on his lips. He glanced over, spotting a free bike and figured he could give it a go.

Climbing on the foreign thing, Marosa revved it up and hit the gas before it jerked off uncontrollably, crashing into a vendor stall with ease.

"Oi'm sorreh!" The Ganerie cried, face pale as he backed it out and attempted to go again. How had they made this look so damn easy!? He revved off again, running into a few corners as he attempted to turn down corridors. It wasn't easy to turn the bike, but he managed while putting a few dents into the thing. They would come out... right? He finally spotted the rogue android, a smile playing on his lips as he got closer. He was nearly there...

And then Marosa hit the gas harder, lost control, and crashed into the other bikes. He flew over the handle, landing on the bikes with a crunch, tangled in a heap with his wings askew random places.

Well, s**t. That was coming out of his paycheck.
