Gabriel had gone out with the other exiles to see what they could find. The usually were out here hunting, but they were still vikings and vikings brought back loot. They had been going crazy with not having anything to raid. Mostly because the main pride was still looting nearly everything in the area, and they had to be careful not to be found since they were exiles. Thus they came to the situation they were in now. The group had scattered, each with the knowledge that they had a day to spend finding something to raid and bring back what they would.
Right now shiny things were great, but more thralls was just as in demand since they used thralls to form the main part of the hunting parties and do the majority of the work. Stormborn or not, they did not want to have to keep working so hard when they could catch thralls to do it for them. Gabe's mission was like everyone else's, bring back loot in whatever form you felt like. The lioness was hoping for something that wasn't a thrall. When she spotted the leopard, she thought his little shell purse looked like good loot.
Gabe also made note of how healthy the leopard looked and debated taking him back. If he resisted, she might. If not, she would just take the thing on his back. She leaped out from behind the rock she had stopped behind and cut off the leopard's escape. "Hand over the shell." She could have just beaten him and taken it, but she liked giving him the option to just drop it and run. It was easier on him that way. Of course he likely would keep it and run, and then she'd just take him and it.

"The pride whose lands you pass through gave me the right, leopard." Gabriel made his species sound lower than dirt. In her pride, they were only good for thralls, as was anything not lion. Really, his arrogance actually earned him some points with the lioness, but she was not going to show it. She still was going to press the issue of the shell that the leopard had. She debated saying more to him, explaining to him how stupid it was to fight her over the shell, but really where was the fun of that?
Gabe wasn't sure why, but his arrogance made her want a fight out of him. The kind that she had had with her now thrall hyena. She turned that over in her head as she watched the leopard. If he fought, she should take him as a thrall on principle. Was that really what she was aiming for now? To bring back another thrall seemed an odd goal for her. The lioness had not really wanted the first one, so why bring back another? Then again, she had come to really like having her hyena thrall. But this one seemed like he would be more trouble than the hyena. There was just something about him.
Maybe the male leopard could keep her female hyena company, or give her someone to boss around. Gabriel thought that idea was quite amusing, since Tatit would certainly enjoy bossing another creature around. The lioness was becoming quite fond of her hyena thrall. She did not wait on the leopard's answer to her statement before taking a step forward, trying to intimidate the male. She stepped over the spot he had spit in. "Hand over the shell and you can leave."

Gabriel should have seen that the male was baiting her, and maybe she did deep down. The problem was, she reaaaaaally wanted this fight, so she did not pay attention enough. This was the kind of mistake she was always on her brother about making, and here she was, assuming the leopard was legitimately going to run. She SHOULD have let him run if he wanted. And yet, the way he was talking, she just couldn't bring herself to do so.
Gabriel lunged at the male and took a swipe at him, a grin on her muzzle now. Oh she was up for some fun and he was providing it. The problem here was that this kind of fun was dangerous, and she really could end up digging her own grave this way. As much as she grumped at her brother, maybe she should listen to him more. She didn't think so, but hey, even a genius can do stupid things.
