In the Roman Empire, the rise of Gods is indisputable. The bounty they have given their loyal subjects is evident as they conquer, expand, and invent new things. The people worship the many Roman Gods, and they in turn help their people, but can one person throw off that balance?
As the empire expands, they conquer even more countries. Along the way, they make it almost to Egypt and take the cities, trying to build a stronghold. Killing the men and taking the women and children as slaves, they ship them back to the Holy Roman Empire, and among them is Kaiah. Having just turned 16, she is sold as a pleasure slave and is bought by her master, who she learns is abusive, but she puts up with it in hopes that she can one day get her freedom, though her master looks as if he will never let her go.
When Kaiah first comes to the capital, a lone god finds her and watches her in the guise of a human form at first. As his feelings begin to develop, he starts to watch her from Olympus, keeping his eyes on her and realizing soon that she is a slave. Not being able to stay away, she in turn starts to fall for him, but her master soon sees something is wrong and begins to get even harsher with her just as the war starts to escalate, and her master becomes a general for Caesar.
What will the God do to keep his love safe? Will he win her love, or will she turn from him in order to escape her master's wrath? And what happens then the war starts to interfere with their lives?

Name: Kaiah Tornin Age: 16 Bio: Kaiah was raised along the borders of Egypt along with her mother and father. As an only child, she always recieved love, and even some schooling from her father. She knew she was privelaged, and she never took it for granted. One day when she was out gathering water, she was stolen by the Roman army and shipped to the Capital. When she arrived, she was sold to her master as a pleasure slave, and now she endures him as he takes her, uses her, and hurts her. Now, she just wants to be safe somehow and feel loved, though at the moment it seems impossible. Appearance:

Name: Kaen (pronounced Ka-ena)
Age: 4522 years old, give or take a century or two
Bio: Kaen was born as the God of Strength while his parents were the Goddess of Hatred and God of Warcraft respectively. His true name is not Kaen, but Jaerus (pronounced Hae-rush). He has, frankly, become bored and lonely on Olympus and is barely tolerated among most of the other gods.

As she was being pushed through the market, Kaiah only stared at the ground. The large rope tied around her wrists were starting to hurt. She knew that once they were taken off, there would be sores and blisters there, but she endured and made not one sound to her captors. Her eyes stayed trained on the ground as she watched the feet of the slave in front of her moving. All around her, the smell of disease, decay, and death was around her, but that was because of where the slaves were from. Most of them were injured in some small way, except for some of the women and children. They had been stripped of most of their dignity along their trip to the capital, and it was obvious from their dispirited looks. The men looked broken, and the women would hardly look up. Kaiah broke this cycle however as she turned her head and gazed around her, wanting to know what would befall her. Her heart dropped into her stomach as she recognized the large dirt path as a makeshift slave market. She would be sold soon. Her eyes turned bleak as she looked at the masters that would be buying the prisoners of war to work in their houses, fields, and do other more... primal... things.

Kaen cocked his head, his leanly muscled form hidden by the dark red cloak he wore over the gray clothing he preferred. A gladius hung by either hip, showing he was used to combat. He tilted his head slightly, seeing a girl staring at the ground with a dusty and ragged red dress. He saw that though she seemed like the other broken and battered souls, he could tell that deep down she was far stronger than she appeared, which interested him. "Intriguing," he murmured in a deep rumbling voice. He wasn't all that bothered by the scents around him, but wasn't amused by the scents of diseas and decay. His dark brownish black sandals made a low whispering sound as he moved through the crowds before he cocked his head fractionally, a momentary flicker of brilliant prismatic light deep in his irises the only outward sign of his true immortal nature.

As she watched the people in the market, her eyes searching everyone elses. After a few hours of standing and registering their papers, they had been led to a scaffolding. Kaiah watched as woman after woman was bartered away. Her eyes sadened as she watched a child ripped away from it's mother as she was sent to a scaffold. She could only be grateful she had yet to marry or had a child when all this had happened, because if she had, they would have had to kill her in order to separate her from the child. This mother was different however. She meekly walked to the scaffold and for a moment, she hated the young mother, but her eyes widened and she looked back at the ground. It was not for her to judge after all. As the line started to dwindle down, she soon realized it was her turn. Kana stared at the ground as they walked her to the large platform and they raised her face, revealing her startling bright blue eyes that did not go with her olive skin tone and dark hair. She was aware she had been an anomaly, but her mother had taught her to be proud of it. Now as she stared at the greedy crowd, a chill ran down her spine as she saw the people that seemed almost... hungry... for her. As the auctioneer started to call out for bids, she froze at a word he used. Pleasure, and then slave. She was being sold to please someone in such a way? Kaiah realized she had reached a whole new low, and now she had no idea what she should do. Her eyes dropped and she felt like crying, just when she heard someone bidding more and more. Her eyes looked up to see a lone man dressed in a rich cloth. Her eyes widened as she watched him, until soon she was lead off the stage to him. Shyly, she didn't look at her new master until he put his arm around her waist and began to lead her away from the depraved alleyway.

Kaen's eyes narrowed, his topaz eyes glowing faintly. I tolerate most things these mortals do, but this is disgusting, even by my standards, he thought grimly. As the girl's new 'master' led her past him and close to him, he shifted, slipping something hidden into her ragged robes. It was a sky blue rose blossom, quite rare among the mortal realms unless you knew where to look. "Never give up," he murmured quietly, making certain her master didn't hear him, though he knew she would.

She saw the man come closer to them as her master lead her by the many people. Her eyes went back to the ground as they went by him until she felt him put something into her hands. Her eyes widened and she gently took it from him as she heard his words. "Thank you." she said softly before her master lead her away. She tucked the blossom into her clothing, holding it close as she was taken to a carriage. She got in and looked out on the slave market, watching the young man until the carriage pulled away.

Kaen kept his eyes on the young slave girl; her unbending will, determination, and strength intrigued him. He could see it, though he doubted anyone else knew it for what it was; they most likely assumed her a broken, fearful young woman. Perhaps she is fearful, but she doesn't let that stop her, he thought. He noticed that the symbol for the house the man had was that of a captain of several cohort legions of soldiers. He walked swiftly in the opposite direction from the carriage as he lost sight of it, his hair darkening from a deep gray to pitch black before he whistled softly several hundred feet outside of the muddy clearing. Almost the moment he did, a large black horse with silvery fetlocks and a silver mane, his personal mount, cantered out of the mist before pausing beside him. He mounted it and rode idly in the same direction of the carriage. He had to seem as if it were sheer luck that he happened to be going in the same direction.
