Appearance: Azran stands at 6 feet tall, the frame of his body is thin but muscular and sturdy weighing in at approximately 165 pounds. His black hair is naturally spiky and slightly oily and any attempts to brush it are futile. His eyes are a clear crystal light blue shade and almost seem to have a perpetual piercing glare about them which belays his age. His skin is generally clear of blemishes but has a slight permanent pinkish red tint of someone who has spent considerable hours toiling out under the sun.
His most common attire is a simple dark blue overcoat designed to blend into the darkness of the night with a dull red t-shirt underneath along with rather plain looking light blue paints held up by a simple black belt to which he usually attaches his equipment pouches and weapons holsters too and his shoes are plain black runners. The flashiest and most distinctive part of this outfit is the white scarf he wears around his neck to stand out while around the village though he rarely if ever keeps it on for missions or fights. He also keeps a pair of goggles around either situated above his forehead protected or in one of his pockets when not worn on the head.
At home Azran wears a simple dull grey Yukata with geta sandals as befitting of his lowly status and while off duty and not training he often wears a t-shirt with jeans along with blue running shoes for going around the town.

Personality: On the surface Azran is studious and serious with a tendency to be quite but beneath that lies a burning passion that is reflected in his eyes if not always the rest of his face. He is the type to usually keep calm under pressure and is slow to anger but conversely on the rare cases when he does lose control he does it to the extreme as the bottled up feelings come flying out all at once.
Azran is the pragmatic type, often preferring the practical approach preferring to keep things to the kiss principle when possible over a more complex approach. That said he is not afraid to think outside the box and come up with new solutions to old problems. He believes in hard work, and is not the apathetic type often trying his best at any given task assigned him. He is also generally humble and not prone to idle boasting.
While usually very tactical one of his biggest flaws is that he is very straightforward when it comes to talking and will often not hesitate to speak his mind before thinking which can often run contrary to his best interests. However when not landing himself in hot water this can also be a strength as his openest and honesty make it easier for him to appear trustworthy to others.
When it comes to fights however Azran is a ninja in every sense of the word and will not hesitate to use almost any dirty trick in the books and even some outside them in order to win a battle or complete a mission. However this does not make him a man with out honor as he is loyal to a fault and will always look out for his friends and if he feels he owes someone he will go out of his way to repay the debt. Azran is also a man of his word and will do his absolute best to keep it and thus will not make promises lightly and takes promises made to him with deadly seriousness.
Because of his background Azran equates knowledge to power and status due to this he likes to read and can often be found in the village library when not on duty or training. Though he wouldn't admit it to most people his hobby is collecting toy figurines which he uses to decorate his bookshelf at home. His favorite foods are most meats since he couldn't afford them prior to becoming a ninja, conversely he hates most vegetables due to years of living off them.

Combat Style: Azran prefers to avoid starting a fight with an outright direct confrontation when possible preferring to strike though other methods such as poisoning an foes water supply or cutting them off from supplies in order to weaken them. The more he can stack the odds in his favor the better. If he knows he will be confronting someone ahead of time he will be more then happy to research them and set traps ahead of the battle.
When it comes time to actually throw down he believes in striking fast like lightning and hard like steel using overwhelming force to quickly dispatch a foe before they have a chance to strike back. Because of this philosophy Azran often uses Iaido, a sword technique that involves quickly sheathing the blade after each attack which he combines with his own style that he taught himself, a backhanded forward slash for devastating effect.
Azran mainly uses Raiton for offense and Suiton for defense or to set up for a Raiton attack by soaking a foe. He is most effective and comfortable at mid to close range and weakest at long since Lightning isn't exactly known for precision strikes.

History:
As a young child Azran was nothing more then the son of a poor low class farmer living in a rural village which was virtually in the middle of nowhere. With no money or status, his family did not even have the right to possess a last name. To make ends meat Azran was forced to help work on the farm from a young age, preforming what ever tasks to which he was physically able.
Resenting how the rich Samurai lord of the village treated him like dirt, Azran dreamed of nothing more then to raise his status so that his lord would treat him with respect and perhaps allow him the honor of establishing a surname for himself but he lacked the power or knowledge to do anything and thus normally would have been doomed to a life of servitude growing crops.
However when Azran foolishly called out the Lord about his unfair treatment the Lord was not totally with out pity. In need of workers to modernize his village with the wonder of electricity he gave Azran a basic education he otherwise would never afford allowing the boy to learn to read and write in exchange for his loyalty and services working as a electrician.
On his twelve birthday Azran was working on installing a live high tension wire when a bolt of lightning struck the electrical pole he was about to climb. Extremely startled by the flash of light and confronted with great danger he instinctively unleashed his latent potential to use nature manipulation in order to generate lightning chakra and unknowingly formed a a crude proximity of the lightning release armor which protected him for the shock wave that followed in the lightnings wake greatly reducing the damage he would have otherwise received.
Having preformed such a flashy feet directly in front of several witness word quickly spread across the village quickly reaching the Feudal lord. The Lord knew that Azran's ability was still raw and unfocused, just waiting to be polished. With the right training the boy could become a magnificent weapon. But where to get that training when Iron country was a land with out a ninja village of it's own?
The obvious answer was to send him to the village hidden in the clouds, the place where lightning elemental users where the most common and also a place the Lord paid tribute to in return for protection from bandits. The way the lord saw it giving them a fresh academy student as a bonus along with his annual payment would go a long way toward furthering relations between the two lands. Before parting the lord granted Azran a Tantō & scabbard, a weapon normally only used by Samurai, this wasn't so much altruistic but to insure he would make a good first impression.
During the screening process it was discovered by the elite that Azran was a descendant from the Kousen clan. His grandfather Gen had been the runt of the litter who showed no signs of having inherited the bloodline and was deemed unfit to waste academy resources on. With no prospect of ever becoming a ninja he had left the village in order to find a living for himself in the nearby Iron country. A civil war between Samurai lords broke out soon after and Gen took up arms and as sometimes happens during the chaos of battle was accidentally reported dead. As far as the village knew he had perished during the fighting. In actuality Gen had survived and after the war was over settled in a small village where he fell in love with a local farm hand and got married, passing on the potential of his bloodline despite the fact he himself would never manifest it.
But instead of making this information public it repressed, secret to all but a select few so that other villages would not take advantage and try and steal the bloodline for their own by going after the rest of Azran's family back in iron country. Those in the know have kept Azran at an arms distance, feeding him some clan jutsus and traditions and monitoring his progress as their new secret weapon, even while they keep watch over the rest of his family to protect them...or if necessary eliminate them.
Years of working at a farm had built up Azran's physic making him fit and able as well a giving him a decent sized chakra pool to draw upon for someone his age. Thus when he joined the ninja academy he was not at as large a disadvantage as one normally would be joining the school so late at life. Trusty for knowledge Azran adapted himself quickly to the ways of the ninja and rose to prominence in the academy and within four short years graduated near the top of his class.
For graduating with such high grades, Azran was given a small scholarship of sorts in order to equip himself. Money he spent commissioning his specialized Claw shot weapon. The unique weapon was specifically designed to take advantage of his abilities and hopefully give him the edge he would need to survive and grow as both a ninja and a person. Now Azran loyally serves the village in order to pay back the enormous debts he owes, both to the them and to his former lord. His dream the same as ever, to earn distinction and respect and one day establish a clan of his own and finally earn his long sought last name
Roleplay Sample:
Ayumi trusted her arms towards Azran just as he was thinking about how long she could hold her charge. Her chakra bullet was incredibly fast but luckily for Azran he had been prepared, his hand on the hilt of his tanto ready to attack or counter attack.
He was a man who had rose to prominence in the academy for using a self taught style of Iaido. While by no means a master of the art, he had practiced it for many long hours and could quick draw his sword at incredibly velocity, far in access of how fast the rest of his body could move, especially when he was using chakra to enhance his reaction time.
Reacting with out conscious thought he drew his sword so fast that the naked eye could not even see it being drawn. In one split second the metal of the blade flashed out colliding head on with the small purple ball of chakra slicing it out of the air, an easy target compared to the tiny marbles he sometimes practiced with by having people throw them at him.
A clap of thunder filled the air as the electrical charge he had built up into his short sword was unleashed upon contact with the charka ball, the energy of the two canceling each other with explosive impact. With a loud boom Azran went flying towards the bottom of the fountain even as his Tanto was spent spinning out of his hand. With a kersplash Azran landed in the shallow water which thankfully cushioned some of the impact even as his heirloom weapon sunk blade first into the ground several feet away by an unmarked grave side.
Jumping to his feet a few seconds later, Azran sputtered as bent over and coughed up liquids that had made their way into his lungs during his short immersion. Steadying himself with one hand against the statue he cursed as he rubbed his right shoulder with his other hand.
"Damn that hurt." He thought with a slight curse. Sure he had bested her attack rather then take the brunt of it, but it hadn't exactly been a walk in the park to do it. Recovering quickly thanks to his great stamina, Azran clambered out of the the fountain then slowly walked over to retrieve his blade, spinning it around once to fling the dirt off it before returning it to it's sheath. Then turning towards Ayumi he slowly walked over towards her, knowing that she had exhausted herself during her last strike. Standing so that his tall form was looming above her he raised his left hand up, pointing diagonally so that all five claws of his gauntlet where aimed down at her.
"Give up short stuff, it's over. You've seen what these claws of mine can do to solid stone when I launch them. At this range, I'd hate to see what they would do to your flesh" He commented dryly, secure in the knowledge that he had just scored a prominent victory in the eyes of the exam proctors.
