The flight back had been a long and difficult one and left Devith in a good deal of pain despite his rider's attempts to patch him up. Luckily the healers were able to numb and stitch up the gashes on the growing silvers shoulder leaving the tired dragon to curl up beside their weyr to rest. The two just sat there for a while Hekate stroking her silver's great shining head until he was lulled to sleep. It'd been a rough couple of days and they both needed their rest. She only thanked her lucky stars that Devith had been busy outside and too wrapped up to rage at Kaeyne or the boy would have found himself on the wrong end of a very pissed off silver. As it stood though she managed to keep Devith calm assuring her lifemate that it wasn't worth getting into more trouble over.
Sighing Hekate pressed a gentle kiss to Devith's forehead rising slowly so as not to wake her companion. There were still a few things Hekate needed to check up on before she too could rest. Padding quietly between the weyrs and homes she made a beeline for Z'fer's weyr keeping a sharp eye out for his bronze or any signs of him being home as she paused to knock on his door.

Rough was an understatement. If Cal never laid eggs again Z'fer would be happy. Not that it was the bronze's fault that they'd been stolen or that one of his hatchlings had defected (whether voluntarily or not Z'fer still wasn't sure and was rather unsettled about). betweening from location to location and essentially camping out in the mines hadn't been on Z'fer's schedule either yet there he was.
He'd finally taken a moment to return to his weyr and get himself clean and in a fresh change of clothes. All the dust and dirt had been about to drive him insane.
Now, as he rubbed a dry cloth over his freshly shaven face he felt human again. He'd have to return to the mines soon and get the young girl ready for her return trip to the Weyr, but for now he was home.
Or maybe he could leave her to V'tur and B'nas. It was just a young girl and a green. She didn't need three escorts and he had the feeling that their first encounter wouldn't be forgotten anytime soon.
"Come in." He called as a knock sounded on his door.

Hekate was relieved to hear Z'fer's voice and not that of his roomate's as she pushed the door open and stepped inside. Wordlessly she approached him wrapping him in a hug from behind and burying her face against his back with a relieved sigh. "I'm so glad you're ok." She murmured gently letting go just enough to allow the wingleader to turn in her grip if he wished to do so.
"Please tell me your mission was at least a bit more pleasant then mine? Poor Devith is sleeping off his injuries. A sharding green gave him a number of nasty gashes on his shoulder. No major damage, but he'll be limping for a while. I don't think I ever want to see another sharding candidate again." Hekate continued with a shake of her head and a groan of annoyance giving Z'fer another affectionate squeeze as if making sure he was really there.
"One of the eggs hatched a bronze. Calanoth will be pleased about that at least." She added somewhat reluctantly, but knowing Z'fer would want to know. Personally she'd been hoping for a couple of silvers, but so far had not heard of one being hatched so she doubted she'd be seeing any little light metallic hides scampering about this clutch.

Z'fer placed his hands on hers as they slid around his front, turning when she relaxed and moving so he could hug her properly. "I'm fine. So he matches me huh?" Z'fer smiled for her, referring to the deep healing score on his own shoulder. His sling was gone but he still wasn't supposed to lift or do anything strenuous with the arm.
"I think Narisa's group were the only ones to escape any sort of trouble. We had no real injuries though." The fact that one of their new weyrlings was gone would be known soon enough. He'd rather not stress her with the fact if he could avoid it.
Z'fer laughed as she mentioned the bronze. "Oh I know and He is. We made a quick visit with each of the weyrlings abroad so Cal could see them. He wouldn't stop harassing me till we did. Only metallic in the clutch from what I heard but I didn't expect more than that with the small clutch Suunath laid." Again, avoiding the topic of the missing gold egg. For all the joy that had come there were a couple big open sores that could only be blamed on the revolutionists. "At least there were a couple good looking browns and a crimson from what I heard... too bad they're all looking a little runty. I'd hoped Suunath's size wouldn't breed true."

"Devith rather had his heart set of a couple of silvers being in the clutch, but I think he'll settle just fine for a crimson. One atypical is better the no atypicals as far as I'm concerned." Hekate replied giving him a gentle smile as she reached a hand up to brush a bit of hair behind his ear and press a kiss to his cheek.
"Perhaps they'll grow into their hides a bit." She offered with a chuckle and a shake of her head. "I'm sure Cal doesn't care what size they are as long as they're all healthy. I heard there were no major injuries during the hatching and all the dragons behaved. Can't say the same of the candidates. Remind me to never go along with Kleos again." Hekate added with an annoyed sigh, but said no more giving him another squeeze before letting go.
"You know Calanoth is going to be useless while they're all little and cute like that. I remember when Devith hatched." She continued a nostalgic smile gracing her lips at the memory. "I'm glad we didn't lose any between."
