Frost clopped through the long grass fields that led up the sloping hills and eventually ended at the rocky edge of the mountain range his family called home. He didn't mind the long journey from the mountains to the lower valleys where he spent most of his time in the company of friends, helping those in need, he thoroughly enjoyed his young life. The chill wind tousled his short mane and he held his tail high as he broke from a easy canter into a full on gallop, racing through the hills, a spotted purple and blue streak, heading straight for the blanket of snow that lined the area. Recently he had met a mare, a very exotic, friendly, and, dare he think of it, beautiful young mare. He had never really met many mares in his yet young life, most of the time they were older and already had mates and children of their own. He hadn't been necessarily sheltered, but he had spent most of his childhood being the big brother to his younger ones, his mother and younger brother especially had trouble with their vision. He, luckily had not inherited that problem.
He had invited this mare, Kihaku to join him on his journey up the mountains, she had never journeyed so far up and wondered what it was like. He enjoyed showing others beautiful places, there were things in life that definitely shouldn't be missed, and the scenery from a mountain top was certainly one of those. He trotted to a stop at the gnarled roots of an old elm that was the landmark to the entry road up the range, catching his breath he raised his head high, looking over the land. She'd come. He was sure of it.

Kihaku still felt a little silly for telling a stallion she didn't know that she never been up the mountains, and even more so for agreeing to his offer to take her up the mountains. If her father knew, he would truly think it was a hoax to get her alone and take advantage of her and prevent her from going. And true, it was a possibility, but she trusted Frost and was certain he truly just wanted to take her to a location that he always been, that she hasn't. He seemed to be a nice stallion, but then again, ever since growing into a young mare, she has yet to come across a mean one. But friendliness seemed to exume from him, so she knew she had nothing to fear from him.
So, going to meet him, she went through the procedure she normally would when she would leave the teepee. After giving her older brother speaking lessons, she spent time with her mother and father before finally leaving the boundary of their keeper's land. Once free, she made her way through tall grasses, hoping she remembered the directions he described. Not wanting to keep him waiting too long, she sped up into a steady canter, but nothing too fast that she would miss landmarks, she would hate to get lost... though if she did, it wouldn't be anything new. After some time, at a short distance was the sight of an old elm and at the roots, a figure, a bright blue figure. A smile came to her face as she slowed to a trot and approached him.

A smile lit up his face as he caught sight of a red maned figure trotting up the way, she had come after all. He walked up to greet her with an easy pace and a welcoming look. " I'm glad you found the place Kihaku, my directions are sometimes all over the place." He laughed warmly "the way here is pretty though, ah, but not as pretty as the mountains." He glanced up the route past the tree. " It gets a bit nippy up there but besides that, it's all easy hoofing." He looked down at her, such a wild spirit in a little body. He spared a glance at the single spiral horn poking gracefully out of her red hair, he had never met anyone with such a horn, it was very pretty.
He had lived most of his young life in the mystical mountains here, normally they were covered in snow, sometimes in the heat of summer it was all rock and greenery. The only thing that stayed consistently beautiful was the scenery; the land stretched out before you in ways you could never have seen it from below. He hoped she would find it as brilliant as he did, he wanted to impress her, he didn't stop to wonder if there was a reason for it, he just wanted to. Simple.
" Shall we?"

Seeing the smile on his face as he approached, widened her own. "They weren't bad this time I guess, I got here with no problems." She comforted with a giggle, braided tail giving a light flick. She smiled more as he spoke about the view of the mountains, "I can't wait to see it." She told him eagerly, looking over the path behind him. She wasn't worried about it being nippy, the garment she wore kept her pretty warm, though even to this day has been curious as to why she, her sister and her father wore them. But that was something for another time, right now, she should enjoy her first trip to the mountains.
She nodded, bowing her head for him to lead the way. "Let's shall."

" Oh good, i'm very glad to hear it!" his bright chest rumbled with laughter. He walked alongside her as they traversed the path, his short tail flicking about behind him like that of a happy puppy. He much enjoyed company, and it was even moreso when company was a pleasant adventurous mare. " Have you explored much in your life Kihaku? There are many places like this that I've likely never seen. New adventures." He cracked a goofy grin " ah but that's just me, some people like home the most." He turned a bend in the path, the wind tousling his short mane, the beaten path lay before him, long and straight, the ground covered in a thin blanket of snow. Spring was here, and the snow was still clinging to the ground, making it's last stand. " Here's the straight n narrow. All the way to the top for us!"

She smiled happily as he laughed, traveling up the path with him at her side. At his question about exploring, a small frown blipped on her face as she gave him a small shrug. "I think I had enough exploring that I needed as a foal, that I tend to stick close to my family." She knew it wasn't intended, but she let out a small sigh as the memory of the chain events that happened to her in her early life flashed through her mind, trying her best not to look at the scars on her legs that were her reminders of the incidents.
She shook her head, trying to get the thoughts out of her head. "But, being with my family is enough for me. I have to admit, I'm a bit of a Daddy's girl, so most of my time is with him." As they turned a corner and the path stretched ahead, she smiled at the snow that seemed to refuse to melt. "Is it a long trek?" She asked, more curiously than worriedly.
