Sometimes Hekate wasn't sure if she owned the firelizards or if the firelizards owned her. Perhaps both in a way only without the solid grasping bond like she had with Devith. Flitters were more like smoke. Solid and real when they were there yet wispy and intangible in their thoughts. You couldn't control a flitter. You could just try to train it and hope for the best just as you could learn to work with your dragon.
However that didn't change the fact her fair seemed to be growing. Besides her three greens, one brown and her silver there was also Z'fer's black who visited her often and a number of other miscreant she didn't recognize and one newcomer. A young hatchling brown had appeared recently joining in along with her fair at feeding times and continuing to stay for a while after to socialize with her group and be petting and fussed over. Where he had come from she wasn't sure. Lacing her fingers together where she sat at the outdoor table staring at the wide brimmed bowl of scraps Hekate watched as the newcomer arrived taking his spot on the edge with the others to eat.
He certainly didn't look wild and it usually took the wild ones longer to grow comfortable with her presence even if the little winged creatures did seem to flock to her like wherry's to a field.

Wen returned to his room with a bowl of food for his flits and frowned slightly at the slightly ajar door. He opened it, setting the bowl on the sparse candidate furniture, this one a rather beaten up table and did a quick flit check. Noche was fussing over the pot with his latest flit egg, which brought the total of eggs he had received since coming to Trine weyr to four. Rivet was lazing on his bed, the blue just lifting his head when he entered before returning to his comfortable sprawl. Which left Cat.
Who was missing again. Wen pinched the base of his nose, breathing deeply for a moment. Okay, it was time to figure out where his brown flit kept disappearing to before they both got in trouble. Cat was a miscreant, prone to twining around peoples legs till they tripped and napping in doorways. Now where to start?
He first checked on the egg pot, making sure his newest flit hadn't hatched yet. The shell was still whole and not moving yet. Wen covered it back up and rounded up Noche and picked up Rivet before leaving the room. Alright... from his talks earlier with the weyrling it seemed a lot of the riders had flits. He probably should start in their barracks since most of the candidates should recognize Cat. One of them would have found him if Cat had got into their things.
Wen huffed and started off for the other set of barracks.

It wouldn't take him searching for long to find a woman and her silver dragon outside feeding their own flits while the dragon napped lazily in the sun. Leaning against the table Hekate watched as her flits and the few who liked to hang around her fair gorged themselves as she pondered just who the brown belonged too with a slight frown.
It seems like they're multiplying. Hekate murmured mentally to her dragon as the silver cracked an eye open to peer at his little winged cousins.
If you continue to stare at it so Mine you might just burn a hole through it's hide. Would you like me to ask the brown where he's from? Devith rumbled in amusement back to his beloved rider even as he cocked his head spotting movement in the distance.

Cloud of flits in the distance and one silver dragon lounging in the sun was a rather good indicator where his flit got off to. Wen headed towards the feeding fair and gave a wary sigh as Noche flew off to join her brethren, the cheerful stripped flit likely greeting everything. Rivet just curled his tail a little tighter around Wen's neck as he approached the dragon and woman?
She wasn't a girl, that was certain and likely part of the flit mass, perhaps most of it belong to her. Yes, Cat was in the cloud. He made out his brown and his excitable green either playing or heading towards a possible fight. It was rather hard to tell at this stage. "Hello," he greeted.

Hekate glanced up as yet another green that was neither Lady, Countess, or Maiden landed on the bowl edge beside her own brown Baron. Giving the new green a rather pleasant chirp the brown scooted over to make room for her. It was then that she heard the 'hello.'
Half turning she spotted the boy who from the look of his candidate knots was one of the lucky ones to be standing at the lastest clutch. Flashing him a broad smile she motioned him over. "Hello to you too candidate. Can I help you with anything?" She asked rather pleasantly a bit excited that one of the newcomers had chosen to approach her. Most except a for Rochelle and Carltis tended to avoid her.
Tilting his head Devith in turned eyed up the newcomer, but seemed more then content to remain sunning. Hekate had just oiled his hide this morning and he enjoyed how it gleamed in the sunlight allowing other to admirer him while he napped.

"I was looking for my flit. Seems I found him here." Wen glanced up noticing Noche had landed on the dish. She must have gotten tired of chasing Cat and decided food would be better. His blue was still being a lazy jewel piece around his neck. "I hope they won't be a bother." He didn't seen any queens and Cat was rather... shards, his brown flit oozed independent arrogance.
She was taller than him, not unusual, Wen thought as he walked closer. "Are those your flits?" He nodded to the ones calmly eating with Noche. Cat had left the bowl to side up to one of the greens. Wasn't Cat too young to be flirting?

"Yes I do seem to have a knack for attracting the little winged things." Hekate joked flashing Wen a rather friendly grin as she patted the spot on the bench beside her. "Don't worry they're no bother. Come grab a seat. We'll let them get their fill and then they'll be easy to nab." She explained and at his questioned turned to glance at the bowl.
Cat wasn't the only brown there. In fact Baron, Hekate's brown was full grown and rather massive for his color, but seemed not to mind the cocky youngsters presence. If anything he continued eating minding his own business and not caring so long as Cat made no trouble. However on seeing exactly which green Cat was sidling up to he raised his head chewing on a piece of meat as he watched with interest.
"Oh the brown there is Baron. He's mine and the silver there is Prince. I then have three greens Lady, Maiden and oh dear. . ." Hekate trailed off spying what her brown had seen as Cat sidled right on up to the red haired rider's third green Countess.
Countess was albeit a very pretty green. She was unusually tiny for being full grown and a bright bright vivid neon green however that wasn't what Hekate was concerned with.
Lifting her head from her food Countess blinked up at Cat who even as a hatchling was still bigger then her and for a moment the whole flock seemed to hold it's breath. Then with a leap Countess let out a piercing chittering shriek of joy and greetings and ALL THE HELLO'S as she leaped at Cat's face aiming to wrap herself around it and him in a over exuberant hug.
"And that would be Countess." She added with an amused shrug. "She's a bit overly friendly. My lifemate lounging in the sun over there is Devith."

Wen sat down at the edge of the bench, unsure of the proper decorum of how close he was suppose to sit to a member of the opposite sex. A easier to nab Cat sounded good though and he turned his attention back to the bowl. He listened in attentive interest as the silver rider named her flits. Wen shifted slightly as she paused, glancing at her and then back at the dish, feeling the weight of his blue shift from around his neck and small claws trail over his skin. "What are you doing." He stopped, blinking at a tiny green suddenly shrieked and face hugged his brown.
"Very overly friendly." Wen said dryly and nodded to Devith. "Greetings Devith. I am Wen," he said and looked down at Rivet as the blue gave long trickling trills falling and rising in pitch like burbling. Rivet was laughing?
Cat had fallen over with a startled chirp of shock as the tiny green suddenly was in his face. He flapped his wings, trying to right himself and remove the warm body suddenly wrapped around him. OFF, OFF, OFF! He gave forceful demanding hisses, trying to get the green removed from his person. Cat did not want to be glomped and the blue was laughing at him!
Rivet continued his burbling laugh, the sight of the brown getting tackled by a green deemed important enough for him to move. His eyes whirled, mirthful as he perched on the fair's tall gangly two legger. The blue pushed into the hand, enjoying the scratches and ruffled his wings.
Noche gave a high pitch trill of amusement as well, the green hatchling watching the sight of Cat flounder and hiss under the green flit. She flapped her wings and glided down, landing beside the tangled pair and prodded them with her tail.

"Yeah she does that." Hekate apologized with a small smile and a shrug as she watched the pair struggle. It didn't seem that despite Cat's hisses that Countess was going to let up any time soon as she crooned and chittered and rubbed her head against his. All while still pretty much wrapped around him like a glove. Even Noche's poking didn't seem to do anything to dissuade her. She was so happy to meet him! Hello! Hello! Hello! Hello! Oh he was such a pretty brown! Such a pretty pretty brown! Countess seemed to chitter drawing a chuckle from Hekate.
Even Devith raised his head to peer at the two flits eyeing them before giving Wen a light rumble of greeting even inclining his head to let the boy know he had been seen and acknowledged.
"All right you two love birds break it up." She joked reaching out and carefully taking hold of Countess to peel the little bright green off her target. Spying her favorite human in the whole of Pern Countess trilled wrapping herself around Hekate's hand and thrumming loud enough to vibrate with happiness.
"Nice to meet you Wen. I'm Hekate by the way." She added realizing she'd neglected to introduce herself while she'd been so busy introducing her flits.

Cat huffed, puffing up and gave a displeased snap of his tiny jaw at Hekate's hand and Countess before slinking over to Wen and clambering up the youth's leg and perching on his knees. The brown grumbled, eyes a reddish orange as glared at the green, displeased with her and everyone else.
"Hekate," Wen acknowledged. "The angry little brown is Cat." He was going to leave the brown alone to sulk. Cat would demand attention if he wanted it. "Noche is my green and the lazy fellow around my neck is Rivet. I'm beginning to think it should have been lounge or some other variant of lazy."
Rivet shifted, eyeing the bowl before launching off Wen's shoulder and instead of landing on the rim, preceded to drop in the middle. The blue chirped and poked his head out, chewing a piece of meat.

"Well hello to you too Cat." Hekate chuckled peering over at the displeased little brown. However perhaps now the young flit would think twice about whom he flirted with. Not that he hadn't gotten a pleasant reaction, just overly pleasant. Countess of course was too busy being lovey dovey to notice Cat's ill mood and was busy enjoying having her human all to herself.
Eyeing Rivet Hekate's chuckled turned to a full blown laugh as the blue peaked his head out of the bowl drawing a confused chirrup from Prince her silver. "I can understand that. Prince is the same way. Only ever moves from napping about my hair to fuss over a misplaced strand or coo at something he thinks is pretty. That or food." She replied with an understanding nod as she watched the two fairs interact.
"How long have you had your firelizards? They all appear to be rather young." She questioned glancing Noche over with a careful eye as she checked the green's hide to see if she'd been oiled properly.

Rivet answered Silver confused chirrup with a snort and dunk his head back into the food dish he had sprawled in. He was comfortable and surrounded by food. What else could a flit need?
"Not for long. I got Noche 's about two seven days ago?" Wen paused, attempting to calculate how long he had been in Trine. "Rivet's egg arrived after and Cat I'm not sure where he came from." Wen looked over the sulking brown and moved a finger, gently rubbing between the flit's wings. "I went to remove Rivet's egg pot and Cat's egg was just there." He shrugged. "Same thing happened a few days ago so now I have a fourth egg."
Cat huffed but grudgingly accepted the touch. He curled up a bit on Wen's lap, folding his wings down and gave a little pleased rumble.

"Maybe one of your flits is finding the eggs and bringing them back to you?" She mused as she stroke Countess's little bright green head. The bright green in questioned cooed as her second eyelid slid closed with pleasure. Having eaten her fill Hekate had no doubt the hyper green would likely be fast asleep soon.
Prince merely looked down at this new blue and gave a snort of disapproval! Look at him! Getting his hide all dirty! The silver seemed to say as he took another bite to eat mantling his wings and flitting over to land on his owner's shoulder to twine himself about her neck liking a shining silver gorget.
"Have you been oiling them often? The young ones need a lot of oiling at first specially the bigger ones or metallics." Hekate asked lifting a hand to give Prince's head a little welcoming pat.

"Perhaps." Wen eyed Noche watching the stripe green flit prance about Prince. Noche was the only one he could see bringing at least Cat's egg back. It was her or Cat on the newest red egg in the pot. Rivet was too lazy to leave his room, let alone bring back an egg. "I hope I am." Wen looked over his brown, gently rubbing area's to check for patchy skin.
