I got a second credit card so I could move out of state and they immediately gave me a $1000 credit line which was all used for a U-Haul, gas and food to get all moved. Never used it again and was even making good payments. My job went down hill as my hours got cut so I stopped paying it. After my dad passed away I was even more reluctant to deal with it. Then they sent me a letter saying they were going to take legal action against me but thankfully I got a check from the gov. for my fathers bacnk pay of disability. The balance was $1400 because of all their damn fees. I had to pay $1200 to get it all cleared and they waved the rest. But serisouly, how much do they think they need to charge for fees alone? Craziness! Could have used that money to pay a lot of my truck off but nooooooo, the million dollar credit companies freak out over $1200. They were even calling me over 200 times a month. All that money, down the drain.... FML....

That sucks. The people who work for credit card companies are dumb sometimes. American Express thinks my mom is dead. They called an old phone number due to a clerical error, and some stranger picked up. When they asked to speak to her, the stranger said she'd died, so American Express cancelled her card. When she called the company to fix it, they wouldn't believe her when she said she wasn't dead. While they were perfectly happy to cancel her card without proof of death, they refused to re-open her account unless she could prove she hadn't died.
Now the reluctance to re-open a dead person's account is understandable due to identity theft risks. Their willingness to just someone's word that one of their customers died is not.

They may be large businesses that make a ton of money off of other individuals, but you are still borrowing their money.
Essentially utilizing a credit card = borrowing money.
It would be like, if some one you knew borrowed 1,200$ from you and said they'd pay you back with interest. Paying it off would mean that they are credible and that you will lend to them again some where in the future. However, if they didn't pay off their fee's and what they borrowed then that means they are not credible and you would be least likely to lend to that friend again.
And from not paying off your card, or making payments to it over that course of time. Your credit score might have suffered because of it.

I fully understand what having a credit card means and I only got it because that was the only way I was going to be able to move to a different state. I just believe that the interest that they charge you is rediculous. I wouldn't interest on money someone borrows from me so thats not really a good example. Them not paying it off at all I can understand but I paid $100's at a time until I missed one payment and they hiked the min. up so that I couldn't make any more payments. I paid around $1000 more than I should have. I have one card that I havent used in a couple years yet I keep getting charged over my limit because of their damn interest rates. And yes, my credit score is probably extremely horrible right now but there's really nothing that I can do about that atm.
