Sentry bustled around the shore of the pond, gathering grasses, sticks and mud that she busily tucked around a pair of eggs. She would have liked to keep the eggs in the dam in the center of the pond, which would be more protected. But the structure was unfinished, and her eggs couldn't keep warm enough in there. She needed to make sure her eggs were warm and guarded until they either hatched or could be moved into the dam. She was never out of sight of the eggs, and periodically checked them over just to assure herself they were perfectly fine.
They were her first eggs, and she was both a bit nervous and very proud. She and Warden had made these! When she laid her paws on the shell, she fancied she could feel the new lives moving inside. Her own little babies, born to her and her mate. She looked around for Warden, wanting to marvel with him at what they'd done together.

While Sentry was busy taking care of the eggs, Warden was jumping between trying to finish the dam and helping Sentry take care of the eggs. Why hadn't they finished the dam sooner? Everything had happened so fast, moving here to the human world, meeting Sentry, becoming mates, and now...Eggs! He was going to be a father. It was a strange source of pride and worry. Proud he was to be the father of Sentry's eggs, worried that he might not be such a great father, or that something could go wrong. He doubted them both, but they still bothered him. Warden was in a more frazzled state than usual; his own relationship with Sentry seemed to set off a never-ending chain of events that caused him to lose his cool demeanor. But he couldn't ask for anything better, really.
Packing in more mud and sticks with his paws, Warden almost wished he were evolved. This would be a lot easier if he had the large tail of a Bibarel. Back in the colony on the island, evolution was forbidden, lest you be exiled. The King had liked being the only Bibarel on the island and wanted it to stay that way. But now that he was in the human world...
He would think about it later. Right now he wanted to check on Sentry and the eggs again. He smiled, seeing Sentry with her paws on one of the eggs. Wondering if she could feel the soon-to-be new Bidoofs moving inside, he snuggled against her and put one of his paws gently on the same egg. "" He said softly, as if to not wake the children.

Sentry nuzzled Warden back as he joined her, then turned her attention back to the egg. <"I don't know. I never spent much time around eggs,"> she said. <"They should be alright. They're warm and unharmed, not a scratch on them."> Still, she didn't know if they should be doing something else for the eggs. Instinct seemed to suggest this was fine, but they hadn't exactly been living a normal life in the island, so was worried that her natural rhythms might have been thrown off. Maybe her trainer would know? She kind of wanted to keep the eggs with her though, and her trainer seemed inclined to leave her be with them if the wished. She had little fear that her babies would be taken away if she didn't want it. <"We are very fortunate to be in the situation we are,"> she murmured to Warden. <"We were captured by trainers, but that let us be taken away from the overcrowded island. Then we were allowed to live here, in this indoor pond, and do mostly what we like. We're asked to battle on occasion, but otherwise given as much freedom as if we were in the wild. More even; we don't have to worry about predators, or trainers who'd want to capture us, or getting food. And I'm sure that as much freedom as we're given, we'll be able to keep our babies with us and not have to worry about them being taken away."> She stroked the shell beneath her paws and though she felt the tiniest wiggle in answer.

"" Warden replied. Eggs were not something that had happened very often on the overcrowded island. His instincts were also telling him though, that they were doing the correct thing thus far. He trusted his instincts, not considering if the island had altered them in any way. Instincts were instincts, he was born with them.
He wasn't sure his trainer would know much about eggs, something about her seemed naive and maybe just as feather-brained as the pokemon she kept around her. Warden was aware that she was a great resource to him, however. If they needed anything, they could probably alert the trainers. They didn't seem inclined to take anything from them, especially eggs, though humans were strange. He was wary.
He nodded and nuzzled her again after she spoke of their fortune. They really were, had their trainers not captured them and brought them here together, they may have remained on the island forever, having never met each other and instead guarded the grand gates for the rest of their lives. "" He spoke, also feeling the tinniest wiggle. He wanted to give his children everything he had, and everything he didn't have growing up. ""

<"Yes,"> she agreed. <"We should instead raise them as we ought to have been raised. To fight and defend as needed, but not to the exclusion of all else. To have the chance to relax when defending isn't needed. To learn about more things then our immediate surroundings, if they wish. To know love and have fun."> Both love and fun had been in rather short supply on the island, almost as much as food. Just like food, they were often guarded and shared as little as possible, except in private with those closest to you. These babies deserved to have a better life than that. She leaned against Warden, glad they would have a chance at something better. Lyle slung his backpack over his shoulder and left the dorms to head to school. Spinel padded along beside him; even though he couldn't come along, he liked to walk his trainer to the door and be there to greet him when he got back. As he headed through the garden of the Gym, Lyle swung by the pond to see how the Bidoofs were getting along. He liked seeing their dam come together bit by bit and wondered how far they'd gotten now. But when he got close, he saw that instead of working on the pile of sticks in the middle of the pond, Sentry and Warden were huddled around something on the shore. Lyle slowed, them paused, craning his neck to try and see what it was. Finally he asked, "Hey Sentry, what've you got there?" When his Bidoof looked up at him, he saw two round shapes beneath her paws. Two smooth, brown things, gently swirled in colors matching her fur. He stared at the objects for a moment, making sure they were what he thought they were. Then he ran back to the dorms yelling, "Sienna! Hey, Sienna! Sentry and Warden have eggs!" Spinel paused just long enough to say, <"Congratulations!"> before scampering after the boy.

Warden nodded along, nuzzling Sentry as he did so. He agreed with everything she was saying, and felt he could not reiterate anything better himself. He could not wait to start raising their children, and raise them properly. Warden didn't think he had ever been this happy in his life.
Like Lyle, Sienna was also headed out of the Gym, but to do some errands. The rest of her flock trailed behind her noisily. She couldn't leave them alone in the gym, they'd probably cause mass chaos, though they weren't unlikely to do that at the grocery store too.
As she was leaving her dorm, she heard Lyle shouting for her. Eggs? How and when did that happen? It was weird to hear, the thought that the two Bidoof might produce eggs hadn't crossed her mind. She ran over toward Lyle Her birds flew along side her, also excited at the news of eggs. Sienna found him quickly at the entrance of the dorm, "Eggs! That's awesome, what do you think we should do with them?" She asked. Frey had been the only pokemon of her's to father an egg before, now Warden was the second. So weird. Frey obviously had wanted to raise his own egg though, not really letting Sienna do much with it. She felt like Warden might want to do the same, "Our best bet will probably be to leave them alone with them," The bird keeper said on their way back to the bidoof. She wanted to see the eggs for herself.
The two bidoof were huddled closer together now, talking quickly in their own language. They grew quiet when the human approached. Would they take their new eggs? They hoped not.
Sienna spoke to them after cooing over the eggs, they had such pretty markings! "Congratulations you guys!" Her birds echoed her noisily. "We don't want to take your eggs, by the way, their your's. Good luck!" She said and her birds echoed her again before they headed out for groceries. "I hope they'll let us see the babies!" She said to Lyle.

(OOC: Bleeeeeh, here's anything at all to get this going again! Because they're just so cute to RP together,) Lyle watched Sienna as she left, thinking about what she'd said. Take the eggs? The thought hadn't even occurred to Lyle. Though truth to be told, he hadn't thought at all what would happen to them, he was still processing the idea that his pokemon had eggs. But the Bidoofs seemed to be taking care of them already, with a very sturdy-looking nest underway that certainly had not been there last time he stopped by the pond. He turned back to the pokemon to agree. "Yeah, they're all yours! I'm sure you'll be great with them. It would be nice to get a closer look at them sometime, though," he added, a bit wistfully. Now was not the time though, he had someplace to be, and if he didn't hurry he'd be late. "I'm off to school now. See you later!" he said, waving at the pokemon before dashing out of the Gym. Sentry had appreciated the news from Sienna, but had not relaxed until Lyle confirmed it. He was her trainer after all, and she would have to abide by his ruling. She was just glad he'd made the decision to let her keep her babies. She nuzzled Warden again. <"All the more reason we were fortunate to come here,"> she told him.
