Ailin
"Inquisitive. Impatient. Not yet in this clutch. There were a couple in Suunath's." Ailin replied with a smile. If he was to Impress... one like the Swelling egg is what he'd like. He joined Niyx at the Misdirection egg. "Maybe this one?" It certainly was filled with flattery. Ailin couldn't shake the feeling that something was off though. It seemed like there was a pressure or heaviness in his mind. Ailin didn't stick around long to figure it out though, removing himself from the uncomfortable situation.
"What about you?" He raised his eyes from the eggs to Niyx and rubbed his hands together, ridding them of an odd slick feeling.
.................................... Z'fer
"If you'll excuse me." Z'fer nodded to D'lin before moving to the stairs and descending from the Stands. He couldn't see the candidates efforts at the Crimsons clutch from where he sat and something more interesting had appeared at the Hatching Ground entrance.
"Couldn't resist a peek?" He grinned and pulled Hekate into a hug once he reached her side, kissing the top of hear head. "Hello Devith." He even greeted her dragon with some warmth.
Calanoth bit back a bugle and settled for a deep rumbled greeting. His eyes whirling green at almost top speeds. ~ They are! Suunath laid well. ~ He spared an appreciative croon for the somewhat agitated queen.
~ Did you see there is a gold egg? You will have to come up here and watch with me when they hatch! ~

Niyx To Ailin and Hyweth and J'len
"I'm sure you'll find one sooner or later though~" and before Niyx could warn the boy about the egg she had just touched he placed his hand on it. Shrugging she shook her head and grinned. "That ones a rather clever one if not a bit disconcerting. As for me well the gold egg is rather pleasant." She continued digging into her pocket to draw out a rolled up piece of hide.
"Excuse me for one moment." Niyx added padding around the eggs very carefully to approach Hyweth and J'len. Bowing low to the crimson mother she straightened up with a smile. "Hello again Hyweth. I brought you and your rider something." She added extending her hand and holding the rolled up piece of hide out to J'len to show her dragon.
"I hope I got her color just right." Niyx said with a slight expression of worry. Unfurling the hide would reveal a carefully drawn picture of Hyweth done in colored paints to add to the one that Niyx had done in black and white so long ago.

Hekate and Devith
Hekate grinned accepting his hug warmly as Z'fer wrapped his arms around her. Giving the Wingleader's midsection a slight squeeze she looked up at him and grinned. "And miss seeing Calanoth's clutch and paying my respects to the gold egg? Why never!" She gasped in mock shock at his statement, her expression turning playful. "Besides Devith would not stop fidgeting until I promised he could at least take a brief peek." Hekate added with a chuckle. Personally she wasn't entirely sure how she felt about another gold menace running about the Weyr, but if it was one of Calanoth's eggs then it couldn't be too bad.
Crooning a unusually warm greeting back at Z'fer Devith turned to peer up at his friend. Well she was well flown! A fine clutch indeed! Devith rumbled merrily back at his big bronze friend more then glad to see him so happy.
I do indeed see a gold egg! Hopefully there will be a few good strong browns and bronzes and perhaps even a silver or two to go with it come hatching time! You know I would more then love to watch your eggs hatch with you! Devith replied cheerfully even going so far as to give a respectful nod to said clutching golden Queen as he conversed with Calanoth. How he hoped there would be a silver or two for him to fuss over and possibly show the ropes. Then he would no longer be the youngest silver in the Weyr. However as long as the eggs were healthy and Calanoth happy Devith couldn't say he would be too upset if there wasn't another of his hide color among the clutch.

Ailin
He smiled. "Oh?" He'd barely brushed it so he could really judge for himself. Playful...maybe? He wouldn't rule it out. So far as he knew his friend could very well be a candidate for a queen. He watched her as she departed to give her gift to the rider of the crimson mother. Who knows. Maybe the strange girl with stranger ideas would find her lifemate in this clutch.
It was interesting to think that so many of his fellow candidates put all their hopes and dreams into these events. They lived their lives to Impress a dragon, or better, one with a metallic hide. Yet here he stood among them, almost wishing he didn't have to be here. Here, not because it was his own dream but because someone else picked him out for the task.
While he waited for Niyx to return he turned and placed a hand on the Damaged Eardrums egg.
...and wished he hadn't. Never mind sticking around to find out what that one was like. His brain hurt. It literally hurt. He hoped it had got a good look while it'd had the chance because he was NOT doing that again.
He rubbed at his temples, his eyes squeezed shut.
..................... Z'fer
Z'fer raised an eye as she mentioned giving her respects to the gold egg. It sounded strange coming from her mouth. He laughed anyways before lowering his voice. "I'm hoping they take after him personally. He'll be crushed if they're all like their mother...or her rider."
Calanoth thrust his chest out with pride, angling his head down to stare at his eggs. ~ There will be Bronzes, and Browns, and Silvers, and all the colors! And they will all be strong and I will be proud of them! ~ Calanoth said in response to both Devith and Z'fer.

Hekate and Devith
Heakte stuck her tongue out at him and winked to signal she was teasing him grinning good naturedly at his suspicion. "I think Devith agrees with you there. I know he's is hoping for some little silvers to fawn over. Though really I think once they break shell it won't matter what color they are to these two. They'll baby them all the same." Hekate joked in a low whisper glancing over at Z'fer's big and very happy looking bronze. For all their sakes she hoped the eggs didn't take after Sunnath or Kindra. One of those pair was enough. The Weyr hardly needed another set like them.
Devith's eyes whirled a rich blue and green at the sight of his friend's pride letting out a low rumbling draconic chuckle at Calanoth's antics as the bronze survayed his eggs. Of course they will be strong Calanoth. They will be yours. How can they not be glorious? Devith crooned eyeing the clutch with almost as much pride as the bronze did. It was a pity he had no interest in flights. He knew his was rather fond of eggs even if she wouldn't admit it simply from the way she tended to go to great lengths to rescue every single battered little flit egg she found.

J'len wasn't sure what to do when Niyx offered her the painting. She gave the girl a smile and a nod. "Thank you," she said. "Hyweth's been rather troublesome about that, you know," she said, lowering her voice. "She keeps demanding that we plaster the weyr's walls with things like this. She likes to look at herself. Half the time, I think that's why she goes down to the lake so often." The crimson rider turned the painting carefully, so Hyweth could view it.
"I think that's about right. What about you, Hyweth?"
Hyweth was silent for a long moment, lowering her head to study the painting carefully. She gave a rumble of approval, flicking her tail. This pleases me. Have this candidate bring more. You will put this one next to the other? And for a moment, it seemed the crimson was going to calm, certainly she was pleased by the gift--and then she set eyes on Ailin.
She did nothing; simply stared, allowing her eyes to flicker from green to yellow, and then red. He would not move away from her eggs so quickly! He would respect them! And she would watch.

Z'fer
Z'fer grinned. "Calanoth won't care what color they are. They're good sized eggs. I see a couple that could produce bronzes I'm sure. As for silvers, we'll have to wait till the rest of them are hatched. I'm interested to see her reaction to breaking open the atypical eggs." He tilted his head towards where Kindra stood. He'd be just as happy to have silver's of course, though what he'd give to have eyes on THAT conversation among the weyrwomen.
~ They couldn't! ~ Devith was only encouraging the bronze's elation and pride. Of course they couldn't be anything less than wonderful. Not with HIM as their father! He 'humphed' Why could they not hatch now? By the look of some of them they were ready! They were hard enough for the candidates to touch and they were so active! He wanted them to hatch now.

Niyx
Considering J'len's words for a moment Niyx tilted her head fingering the brass of her goggles thoughtfully. It was a look of concentration and invention as creativity sparked in her eyes and suddenly she grinned. "What if you ordered a large piece of metal to hang on the Weyr wall and shined it up so much that it acted like a mirror not unlike the lake. That a way she could look at herself as much as she liked and from any angle!" Hekate suggested giving a respectful not to Hyweth.
"After all I can hardly do the likes of her justice with my meager skills. If you will however excuse me I would love to return to admiring Hyweth's beautiful eggs." Niyx added giving another deep bow to dragon and rider as she backed away returning to Ailin's side even as she spotted Hyweth's less then friendly glare towards him.
"Compliment how pretty the eggs are or maybe tell her a poem. She likes to be praised." Niyx whispered low to her friend even as she tried to decide which egg to greet next.

Ailin
When he opened his eyes he blanched, seeing the massive dragon glaring at him. "What...did I do?" He whispered back at Niyx as his mind raced through the songs he knew. His talents lay in notes, not words though. Still, a short poem came to mind that might appease her.
"In idle dreams of long ago, I imagined my true love; A perfect match, a soulmate, A dragon flying o've.
Now you’re here, and now I know Our love will stay and thrive and grow."
He gave her another bow. His curly hair, too long for his tastes, fell into his face.

Thrarothar
His next egg of choice was the purple Head First Egg. Thrarothar plodded through the sands to reach it. His hand pressed against the shell. He wrinkled his brow as the personality within felt like it was jumping him. What was its problem? The comment about runs made no sense that he could tell. Weird egg.
That was it for the larger eggs. He gazed around at the smaller eggs left in the clutch. Well he supposed; they were the gold’s eggs after all. The dark blue of Circles-Within-Circles was mesmerizing. He rested his hand on it and blinked at the playfulness. That was…. Odd. It wanted to look through his memories? Mostly it’d see him winning competitions. Thrarothar moved to the Play Nice Egg nearby. It was nearly as dark as the previous one, but in green. When he touched it he nearly startled as it felt like the egg was touching back. He frowned at the disapproval. What did an egg know about competitions anyhow?!
Well he was done with that one! The only ones left were on the other side of the clutch. He moved around the edge of the clutch until he reached the Slender Egg. It was kinda of a funny shape wasn’t it? Still it was a perfectly smooth shell. He wondered if he could get that perfect in wood. Shaking his head he touched it and grinned. This while small, was more his type of egg. He could easily see the dragon inside helping him to best Muburine.
Reluctantly he moved on. The dull Brown Egg was next. He slowly reached out, and was left wanting. Pretty slow egg. With nothing to linger on he moved to the Languid Egg. It was by far the smallest, and he had little hope for it. “Hello,” he muttered. No he really didn’t want to stay sorry. Opportune Moment Egg was the last of the gold’s clutch. He was curious when the egg wanted to find his motivation. Well to win of course. Thrarothar moved away then hesitated. Did he really want to bother with the crimson’s clutch? Obviously it would be better if he Impressed to one of the gold’s offspring, but crimsons could have browns too. Slowly he followed some other candidates down the tunnel

Muburine
Leaving Self-Absorbed to itself, he headed to Head First Egg. He patted it then laughed softly at the random remarks. Nothing like eave dropping. Feeling it tremble for the next candidate, Muburine moved on. The rocking of the Swelling Egg surprised him, and he glanced at the dragons present. It wasn’t hatching time already was it? But no they seemed calm. He thanked it for its support and moved on.
Circles-Within-Circles came next. The playfulness of the egg was delightful and made him grin. This felt like a fun dragon. He let it poke around in his memories until it was happy and went back to moving again. Slowly he made his way over to Pacifist Egg. He noted the way it leaned, and liked it. When he touched it he liked it even more. He could certainly use someone to keep Thrarothar off his back. Muburine gave it an extra pat before moving on.
He only had a couple more in this clutch. Play Nice Egg was first. Muburine was surprised as the gentle return touch. Of course the dragons would be as curious about him as he was about them. He was alright for now, but thanks for asking. That left Jitterbug Egg. Even though everyone said it was a gold, it seemed wrong not to at least say hi. He gave it a quick pat as he went to leave the Sunnath’s clutch. She certainly seemed the talkative one, as he got a sense of the questions she posed. Now he was off to the crimson.

Hekate and Devith
"Well they're half Malvren. You've as much a say in it as she does not to mention they've been laid on Trine sands." Hekate argued keeping her tone low as she glanced out at the eggs. Who knows how many countless atypicals had perished on Benden sands left to die in their shells. The mere thought made Hekate shudder and reach out for the warmth of her lifemate's mind.
I would have struggled free if it meant being with you Mine. Devith gently assured his rider their bond swelling with love. As if a mere shell would have kept him from His.
They seem to be a rather lively bunch of eggs. Do you think they will hatch soon? He questioned glancing up at his companion and back at the clutch and the many twitching eggs that he could see.

Z'fer
Calanoth peered thoughtfully at the eggs. ~ They are not ready yet though I wish they were. ~ He knew he'd seen many hatchings but he couldn't recall any of them to memory. Whether his eggs were more active than others he couldn't say. He felt, as his strong, perfect hatchlings, that they were.
"I heard Benden had one atypical." Z'fer mused. "A Crimson. Rumor has it the hatchling Impressed before even hatching and the candidate smashed the egg open herself. I don't know how far I believe that. If Impressing in the egg were possible then we'd have ages to trot candidates up and down the clutches until one took. Would be nice to never lose a hatchling between though."
He gave her a squeeze. "Abigail and Narisa won't let any die." he said confidently. "and even if they cave to her you know Calanoth wouldn't stand for it." He grinned. "No. Any atypicals in THAT clutch are hatching whether they like it or not."

I am sure they will be here soon and we will be here to greet them. Devith rumbled warmly at his friend as he peered at the eggs wondering just how soon his estimate of soon would be. He hoped soon in this case was less then a seven day since there was no real telling how long Calanoth and he could wait.
"All too true. It's hard enough just collecting a decent batch of candidates from what I've heard then add in the chance of a stands impression and complications in the egg and it's amazing some impress at all. I know I very easily could have been stuck in the kitchens and lost Devith all together. However I didn't. Here's hoping they all hatch whether certain party's like it or not strong and healthy." Hekate replied giving him a slow warm smile as she reached out taking Z'fer's hand and giving it a squeeze.
"Besides we can't have Calanoth upset. I think he'd throw a fit if someone so much as got a smudge mark on one of his eggs." She joked flashing the wingleader a bright grin as she watched the two dragons peer at the clutch.
"I swear they're as bad as the mothers." Hekate sighed good naturedly at the bronze and silver's antics. She had no doubt had Sunnath probably not taken kindly to it that Calanoth would be down on the sands arranging and cooing over the eggs and Devith probably would be with him coaching on how to arrange them in the most handsome ascetically pleasing way possible.
