Appearance: Alter is a tall muscular man with spiky black hair and dark blue eyes. When acting as a doctor or when experimenting, Alter is usually seen wearing a white lab coat under his haori but over his shinigami uniform((not seen in the pic)) however, it is barely noticeable as one needs to get really close up to notice it. He has the appearance of a young teenager, as noted by his pears.
As a Shinigami, he wears the standard Shinigami shihakusho, along with a tattered Captain's haori, worn like a sash and fastened over his left shoulder. The Division insignia cannot be seen as the haori is worn presently. He haves a habit of sometimes lying about his rank to new comers for no apparent reason.
Personality: Alter appears like a laid back and flamboyant man, evident in his style of dress and general attitude, and he is rarely seen without a smile. In his off time, he occasionally drinks sake in bars and naps. Other times, he likes to test experimentation's wither they be illegal or legal. Alter tends to use a more familiar speech style than many other captains. He generally refers to his fellow captains and Shinigami by their first name and even nicknames others.
Alter is a researcher and personifies the stereotype of "looks can be deceiving". By his early actions during his testing almost right after he gained his captaincy, he is secretly displayed as sadistic and cruel. He sees everyone and everything not as a living beings, but as objects that he can manipulate to his whims. He's true personality shows he has little respect or regard for most others, and was even willing to turn his own squad members who were not aware of his plans, into living bombs for his experimentation, spreading a certain type of liquid with would of caused dozens of tumors to infinitely grow until they literally popped. He also held back vital information about the parasitic hollows from the other Shinigami in order to capture one as a research subject for himself. However, while he usually shows his "happy" regard for life, and somethings his cruel or sadistic regard, he has been known to warn people of possible dangers when they present themselves.
One of his free time activities is "Stalking" around the Sereitei, examining and plotting mischief for his own amusement or even illegally capturing live citizens to test his experimentation's on, though he once got in trouble for doing so when he was a lieutenant but despite that, he never stopped doing it since he never got caught after.
In battle, Alter likes to toy with his opponent, torturing them little by little until they can hardly stand. This was shown in his early recruitment of his shinigami occupation when he killed the third seat and took the position then later did the same with the lieutenant and secretly promoted by his captain by that time. Every time he fights he uses it as an experiment testing himself and his opponent little by little. He also uses it as an opportunity to test certain machinery or other things in case it "doesn't work like it is supposed to." Before engaging, though, he will make extensive research on his possible opponents to tilt the chance of winning in his favor, usually by stalking their battle with others. It is seen that, after his captaincy, he is busy reading in the library with a note on the door saying, "Enter and NEVER walk again" which demonstrates his possible violent nature. He's shown to be doing this every time before he fights, somethings provoking the wrath of other captains.

He, other than that, is loyal, calm-headed, never loses his temper, calm, analytical, intelligent and always tries to convince Alter to do what he believes is right, sometimes even suggesting Alter should do the right thing which is ironic since Alter usually only wants self-gain or could care less about others.

Description: Having replaced both his arms with artificial ones, the fake ones stores a lot of Alter's poisons, and they can protect from most damages as well as shoot out "spikes" to try and poison the victim. To Alter's favor, the blood inside these are not blood, they are a special poison which can dramatically overloads ones ability of reiatsu sensing, after a few seconds, completely severing their ability to sense reiatsu for about two posts. After this, they are immune to the poison---for only two posts afterwords.

Description: When Alter was a lieutenant, he heard about a story that at one time in the past, all of the zanpakutos left their shinigami and rebelled against them, and the shinigami lost all of their zanpakuto abilities. Alter, much like Mayuri, deslikes disobedience. He has modified his zanpakuto to literally self destruct or "blow up" if it ever does any kind of damage to Alter. Alter also uses a "replica" of his zanpakuto, should it be broken beyond repair, he may use the original as a last defense. Though once, someone asked if he can replicate other zapakuto's but Alter claimed it was impossible and that his relationship with his zanpakuto has "opened up this door" for him, meaning that replicating it is unique only to Alter.

Alter grew up very happy. He's father spent as much time as he can with him, playing with him and his mother was the same. Alter was not fond of not being the baby anymore but he over came this. His brother, Altoire, was four years younger than him and Altoire did not mind after while, even going on to say that he((Alter)) was his((Altoire)) bodyguard. They both played a lot together and lived an ideal life, being spoiled endlessly but never acting spoiled themselves.
When it was Alter's seventh birthday, however, everything would go downhill. Soon, Shikushen would become a drunk, eventually hitting and abusing the kids in any manner possible when Altoire was five. Kujiyashi would not support this and would suffer abuse from him as well. Kujiyashi claimed that she would never let anything happen to them, she sworn it as a mother. While they were celebrating Altoire's seventh birthday-without Shikushen, they were all very happy for the first time in two years.
Later that day, all three of them went into the forest while unaware it was a former battleground filled with traps. Both Alter and Altoire were playing and Kujiyashi told them to stay where they were when she would go and find some snacks for them. Altoire rebelliously wondered off, ignoring Alter's warnings. Alter, holding the title of Altoire's "guardian" went after him. Suddenly a large explosion occurred and Alter ran after Altoire but found him stuck inside a cage bounded beneath the ground.
Altoire was wounded and it started raining. The rain threatened to drown Altoire if Alter could not find help in time. Panicking, he ran to get help but he was too slow. Realizing he could not find any one to help he went back only to hear the forgiving words of Altoire. Altoire then died, he had frozen to death in cold rain water.
Mourning his death and losing all hope. Kujiyashi finally found the boys but cried at the loss of her youngest. Shikushen still being the "worthless father he is", drank even more than before.

AFTERMATH

After the death of Altoire, Alter awakened his zanpakuto's spirits or the "inner demon" as he referred to it. He became increasingly violent, asocial, and distant. His parents and him had moved to district 12 two years later, then Kujiyashi inevitably divorced their father. She was acting happy but Alter knew she was empty inside. He enrolled into academy, a few days later, he found his mother dead in the house, hanged by a rope.
She had no doubt committed suicide, but Alter was indifferent to it, blaming himself for everything that occurred. He then went to his father, but being the drunk he was, refused to let Alter stay with him. Full of rage, he slapped the bottle out of Shikushen's hand and declared that everything that happened up to this point was his fault, before leaving. Shikushen, feeling enough guilt as it was, being hated by his entire family had pushed him over the edge, Shikushen then dranked himself to death, with his kidneys and livers giving out. Alter then graduated the academy, getting a A in every subject.
He then worked his way up the ranks until he became a captain, having a long history of illegal testings. Something unique about Alter was that he is one of the very extinct few captains that became a captain without showing his bankai to central 46, some believe dirty politics was behind this, however up to this current point, he's bankai has never been seen by any one other than Alter himself.
