I'm Catholic, but in world history, we are covering how the Islamic faith was started and some of the customs. I have a few questions:
1) If Muhammad believed that Jesus was a prophet, then wouldn't what Jesus said be regarded as truth? And yet Muhammad then goes to discredit almost everything Jesus said.
2) What is the basis for the statement that Jesus was not crucified?
3) Regarding the Caliphate, how many Caliphates are there supposed to be at one time?
4) Why is there a pilgrimage to Mecca to see a meteor in the middle of the dessert? I know there is more to it than that, but it seems this meteor is really important as well. What is it's origin and why is it so important?
~Thank you so much for your help! I simply want to understand.~

I think the general idea is that Jesus didn't lie, but that over time his teachings became corrupted, distorted or misunderstood.
