Helping to clean up the burned rubble after the whole Tunnelsnake incident was not exactly high on Roscoe's 'want to do' list when it came to chores, he'd much rather work in the beast pens, which, while it might be equally dirty at least let you use tools to achieve the job. Picking up the burned up rubble on the other hand often required a hand's on type of treatment..which in turn left him covered with sooty black streaks that he knew..just knew, were going to be murder to get off his clothes.
And he had little enough of those left that that was a genuine worry on his part. Still he had been given the job and he had never been one to shirk his duties - at this weyr or his old one - and so he had arrived and started attacking the blackened mess full force. The quicker he got this done, the quicker he could move on to something a bit more enjoyable.

Ahmenna had missed all the excitement of what was supposed to be some sort of celebration. Not that she cared, if it hadn't been for the green dragon and her rider insisting on her and Khar' coming, she would have been quite content with her life at Eron Hold. Still, once this hatching business was over and done with, and her life moved on, she would be happy to go back to fishing.
Hazel eyes scanned for her cousin and the other boy she was supposed to meet to do clean up. The dark skinned, muscled girl could only hope that whomever their partner was, he was willing to work as hard as they were at the task. If one thing annoyed her, it was laziness. ------- "Menna! Leaving without me?" Kharmeen caught up to his cousin and threw an arm around her shoulders, knowing it would be tolerated. Just a scant two inches taller than her, he was sure they made quite the pair. Today's task was to deal with that nasty after business of snakes and fire. The smell of burned wood, pottery and other offal still lingered in the air as they reached the place where they would be cleaning.
"Oi there! Are we to be cleaning with you today?" His tone was pleasant, the more social of the two. Dropping his arm, he moved forward to survey the rubbish. No shovels, no brooms... Not very efficient at all. At least they had baskets to dump everything in. "Name's Kharmeen and this is Ahmenna. Do we have any shovels or anything of the like about this place? While I love a good swim in the sea, I don't think I need to get any darker from soot today."

Roscoe glanced up as someone called out to him and wiping his hands on his pants to clear it of the worst of the soot he held out his hand to the male who had introduced himself and his companion. "Roscoe..and it looks like it. I was told to clear the larger pieces first..and a drudge will bring along some shovels as soon as they can be wrangled from storage somewhere for the smaller bits." He explained.
"Made quite the mess that fire." He stated with a sigh as he turned to look at the ruined building, and it had to be one of those ones they'd just rebuilt too - real shame that, all those hours of work gone, poof..just like that. "So your both candidates?" He asked in an attempt to start some small talk before picking up another chunk of charred wood and tossing it into a waiting bucket.

"Bloddy shards!" Ahmenna hissed as she kicked a charred remain. She put her hands on her hips in disgust and looked about the area. She didn't like work that was pointless or wasted time. And while cleaning up was certainly not pointless or wasting time, to just be picking up pieces and tossing them around was... "What do they expect us to do? Build a big pile just to burn it some more? A cart would have at least given us a place to put this rubbish and have it hauled off!"
Puffing her cheeks out, the girl nodded at Roscoe and walked over to a piece of something and held it up. "Really, Khar? If anything, a broom to shove stuff in one direction." Contempt fueling her movements, she tossed it into the already growing pile and moved on away from the boys.
```````````````````
"Eh, sorry about that. Menna can be very short tempted with what she considers failed logic. A cart would have been very handy though." Giving a grin, at least they were with someone who was willing to work with them. "And I guess you could call us candidates. A dragon decided it liked her and I came along." He shook Roscoe's hand firmly, calluses and work scars marring his hands before letting go and grabbing what looking like melted dishes.
Good glows, he was going to be three shades darker than nightfall with all this mess. And Kharmeen wasn't exactly a light skinned fool to begin with! Still, it was work and he was helping rebuild the weyr... Sorta. Had to clear a mess before starting a new one. "You work like this often?"
Roscoe quirked an eyebrow slightly as the young women went off on a rant but he wisely kept his mouth shut. Women in a mood were difficult and to be frank he would rather his ire be directed towards their chore rather then towards him. As long as she was working while she complained he didn't really care.
"I think the point was simply to sort through what is trash and what is salvageable, hopefully someone else will be given the chore of shoveling the trash piles into a cart for disposal" Was the only comment he made on the subject before smiling in an eh, what can you do? Sort of way to Kharmeen. "Lately it seems like it." He stated with a sigh, although he personally had been laid up for a great portion of Trines recovery and rebuilding he had recovered enough to help near the tail end and such efforts were the majority of the chores he had been assigned. He wasn't alone though - everyone had been put to work cleaning up the mess the fighting had left behind. "But normally? Before all the fighting started..no, the worst there was to do then was peeling tubers or cleaning herdbeast pens. If we impress we'll be too busy with our hatchlings to do much though - so hopefully we won't have to do this sort of thing for long." He added with a grin.
Ahmenna snorted as the boys stood there talking. Typical men. Picking up some twisted piece of something, she chucked it into the pile and continued to move through the rubbish. "At least peeling tubers or cleaning the herdbeast pens serves a purpose. This? This is all rubbish, nothing to safe. They should just come along and burn it even more so it's easier to get rid."
Long legs helped her jump over odd pieces as she continued to move through and discover nothing of use.
````````````` "I guess as long as it gets done, that's all that matters." Khar replied. He heard Menna make some rude comment and gave a sheepish grin. Moving over to what appeared to be a large beam, he motioned to Roscoe. "Nothing can be worse than having to muck up fish innards rotting on the deck. Bleh, what a horrible smell!"
He lifted the end up and found it wasn't too hard to move if he wanted to drag it. But lifting and tossing it would be easier. "A hand?"
